  • Patent number: 8517900
Abstract: A barbell positioning system featuring a frame with a set of weights attached to a pulley positioned in the back of the frame, the pulley extends forwardly and connects to two sliding bases slidably attached to the front posts of the frame. Two resting bases are temporarily attached to the front posts below the sliding bases. The sliding bases are adapted to pivot when the sliding bases come in contact with the resting bases. When a barbell is placed on the sliding bases, the sliding bases slide downwardly and contact the resting bases whereupon the resting bases pivot the sliding bases causing the barbell to be dumped from the sliding bases to the resting bases.

  • Publication number: 20130184123
Abstract: An exercise device comprises a rigid endless tubular ring having an internal bore, a handle element extending radially across a main aperture bounded by the ring, and a weighted freely movable element received in said ring for movement therearound. The handle element is attached to the tubular ring via first and second attachment portions which extend around the tubular ring for improved stability. By gyrating the exercise device to cause the ball to roll within the ring, a user is able to generate inertial resistance within the device and improve the strength in his or her wrist and other body parts. The exercise device is designed to be used in a one-handed or two-handed mode of operation. The attachment portions extending around the tubular ring stabilize the junction between the ring and handle, allowing greater ball weights and larger diameter rings to be used.

In another embodiment, an insert is located in the center bore hole of each weight plate to be mated to the insert from an adjacent plate. When the pivotal switch arm of any weight plate is rotated to a locked position, the curved fork is rotated with the switch arm into surrounding engagement with the center post or the insert.

Abstract: A weighted vest includes a pair of mirror image front panels joined to a back panel to form a sleeveless weight supporting vest. A plurality of pliable easily conformed weight packets are secured within the vest interior by fabric attachment pads together with a combination of elastic bands and belts. The vest provides weight distribution particularly suited to activities of substantial acceleration such as sprint starting, American football or the like. A porous liner and mesh outer layer over certain areas of the vest allow heat to be vented from the vest interior. A pair of variable spring rate expansion joints are coupled between the front panels and the back panel passing over the shoulder, neck and collar bone region of the athlete's body to provide reduction of localized stress upon the athlete.

Abstract: Systems and methods for functional training exercises having a function-specific user interface are disclosed. In one embodiment, an exercise assembly for performing a functional training exercise that simulates an activity involving a hand-held device includes a load, a support assembly, and a force-transferring assembly. A user interface includes a handle configured to resemble at least a portion of the hand-held device that is grasped by a user. An interface coupling assembly pivotably couples the handle and the force-transferring assembly. A training force applied to the handle by the user during movement of the handle along a functional training path induces an associated force on the load. In particular embodiments, the handle is configured to resemble a golf club, a baseball bat, a racquet, a hockey stick, and a sporting device configured to be thrown, such as a baseball.

Abstract: A dumbbell having adjustable inertial resistance load in the field of athletic sports devices is disclosed. The structure of the present invention is characterized in that the hand grip of the dumbbell is provided inside with a rotatable main shaft, the two swing hammer rods and the swing hammers at both ends of the main shaft constitute a normal pendulum, and the two pendulums at both ends of the main shaft are connected through the main shaft, so as to be functionally combined into the function of one eccentric pendulum. The main shaft, the two swing hammer shafts and the swing hammers constitute an eccentric pendulum. The two pendulums fixed at both ends of the main shaft may be adjusted at different angles. In case the angle between the two pendulums is zero degree, upon the rotation of the pendulums, the forces between the hand grip and the hand, besides the mutual force in the up-and-down direction, also include the periodic inertial force in the fore-and-aft direction.
