Abstract: A safety assembly for an actuating linkage of a metallic casement window or door includes an ā€œLā€ shaped guiding body fastenable on the exterior of the movable frame of the window or door, a first and a second slidable member mounted slidably on the guiding body, a flexible element that interconnects the slidable members, and a safety block. A bolt is mounted in the block and is slidable transversely relative to the direction of motion of the first slidable member and against the action of a spring. The body has two transverse guides between which the safety block is inserted. The first member has two segments with different heights and the safety block has an opening oriented towards the body and directed in the longitudinal direction of the first slidable member to prevent motion of the safety block.

Abstract: A cam mechanism has different portions thereof arranged on a main unit and on a door. When the door is closed, a hinge pin is locked at one end of a hinge groove, keeping the cam mechanism in a first locked position. As the door is opened, the hinge pin is guided by the hinge groove and a guide pin is guided by a guide groove, permitting the door to rotate and slide. Thus, the hinge pin is locked at the other end of the hinge groove, bringing the cam mechanism to a second locked position. A boss slides on a rib and thereby maintains the second locked position, permitting the door to rotate about the hinge pin. This structure helps realize a door opening/closing mechanism with enhanced operability at reduced cost.

  • Patent number: 5361538
Abstract: A gate for a check-out aisle, which displays point-of-purchase merchandise when the gate is in both open and closed positions. The gate has an outer frame that is hingedly mounted along one edge to an edge of the check-out counter, enabling the gate to swing open adjacent to the check-out aisle, or closed across the check-out aisle. An inner frame comprising a lattice face for hanging the point-of-purchase merchandise is pivotally mounted to the outer frame so that the inner frame will rotate about a vertical axis within the outer frame in order to display the merchandise to customers when the gate is both open and closed. The second embodiment provides for a pair of such gates which are hingedly mounted adjacent respective check-out counters so that they can be moved to lie across a double check-out lane that is between the counters.

Abstract: A window system is proposed in which windows (41) which can be both locked and tilted mechanically are connected via microprocessors (43) to a monitoring center (49) which can display the locking and closure status of the individual windows (41) via visual display units (51, 57). The microprocessors (43) are located in the vicinity of the windows (41) and connected to the receiver (61) of a radio-controlled remote control unit by which the windows can be remotely controlled. The windows (41) can also be controlled via an operating unit (65) in the monitoring center (49). The remote control unit may involve either portable transmitters (63) or transmitters with a fixed location (67) which control the windows (41) via sensors (69) as a function of ambient air parameters, such as the relative air humidity, temperature or the CO.sub.2 content of the air in the room. The windows (41) have a locking drive integrated in the handle and a separate tilting drive.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a device for the shutter-like and tilt-down opening, with respect to a fixed frame, of a window or door-window composed of an upper cross-member and a lower cross-member connected by a pair of uprights on one of which handle is rotatably associated. The peculiarity of the device consists in the fact that it compirses box, arranged on one of the uprights, which is provided with means, actuated by the handle, for tensioning at least one traction element such as cable. This at least one traction element can be advantageously constituted by a first and second cable which actuate a plurality of pins for the temporary closure of the window onto the fixed frame and for coupling to an upper hinge for shutter-like or tilt-down opening. The device furthermore comprises a lower spherical hinge which is provided with a friction action for shutter-like opening and with an articulation action for tilt-down opening.
