Abstract: A motor vehicle window regulator includes a helically wound wire coil on a flexible lubricating core to form a flexible cable, and the cable is confined within an elongated guide tube having a longitudinally extending slot. The coil is moved longitudinally within the tube by a helical drive gear, and a lower end portion of the cable carries a window lifting bracket or T-bracket having laterally projecting wings. A clamp unit is mounted on each wing and includes a C-shaped clamp body defining a recess which receives a pressure block and a U-shaped gasket for receiving an edge portion of a glass window panel. A set screw threads through the clamp body and extends through a hole in the corresponding T-bracket wing for engaging the pressure block to clamp the edge portion of the window panel to the clamp body. Each clamp body comprises a short section of an aluminum extrusion and defines slots or grooves receiving edge portions of the gasket and the T-bracket wing.

  • Patent number: 6125589
Abstract: A window sliding mechanism such as that which is used in passenger car doors incorporates a system to reduce friction between a window and its respective seal. A channel provided with air holes is fitted along the window edges that ride within a conventional seal. Alternatively, the air holes could be provided in the seal itself. Air is supplied to the air holes by way of a reservoir or small pump attached to the window sliding mechanism. Controlled air flow reduces the friction generated during window travel. In another embodiment, the system to reduce friction is an oscillating device provided to a conventional window sliding mechanism. The oscillating device is powered by a low cost piezo device. A lower end portion of the coupling reinforcing member is coupled to the inner door panel via an adjusting bolt to make the lower end portion of the coupling reinforcing member adjustingly displaceable toward and away from the inner door panel. By adjusting the adjusting bolt, the coupling reinforcing member is angularly moved whereby the windowpane attaching plane of the middle door sash can be finely adjusted so as to match the windowpane attaching plane of the main door sash.

  • Patent number: 4999951
Abstract: A magnetic window seal assembly for frameless and full flush window systems of automotive vehicles comprises a flexible sealing strip having a compressible body portion with a first magnetic element embedded therein mounted to the vehicle body. A complementary second magnetic element is provided on the lateral edge of the window being sealed. When in sealing engagement with the windowpane and the vehicle, the body portion of sealing strip is compressively tapered along its length, being more tapered or compressed at the roofline than at the beltline of the vehicle. The tapered configuration of the sealing strip and its compressibility at the beltline accommodates transverse or lateral inward movement of the beltline edge of the windowpane to allow the opening of the window by a camming mechanism without undue compressive resistance to such action.
