Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein generally relate to a slit valve door assembly for sealing an opening in a chamber. A slit valve door that is pressed against the chamber to seal the slit valve opening moves with the chamber as the slit valve opening shrinks so that an o-ring pressed between the slit valve door and the chamber may move with the slit valve door and the chamber. Thus, less rubbing of the o-ring against the chamber may occur. With less rubbing, fewer particles may be generated and the o-ring lifetime may be extended. With a longer lifetime for the o-ring, substrate throughput may be increased.

Abstract: The invention relates to a sealing profile (27) which is used as a seal on the window (4) of a vehicle door and which consists of a fastening section (28) to be put onto a ridge (13) and a sealing section (30) designed to rest against the window (4) when the latter is closed. The sealing section (30) is characterized by at least one sealing lip (32) onto the free end of which a section (32?) is molded which is bent in the direction of the fastening section (28). Said bent section is deflected in the direction of the lower side (31?) of an additional sealing lip (31) when the window (4) is closed and defines therewith a closed space (33) that is open in the open state of the window (4). The space (33) formed by the sealing lip (31) being rolled up results in favorable damping properties and reduced closing forces as compared to a classical hollow profile, owing to an increased supporting effect on ventilation.

The chimney block impedes or substantially reduces the vertical movement of air through the jamb channel. The reduction in air movement improves the insulating properties of the window and minimizes the amount of dust and fine dirt that might otherwise enter the jamb channel resulting in a progressively increasing force required to move the sash through the jamb channel. It consists of a vertical structural element which is secured to a planar sealing element that conforms to the cross section of the jamb channel. Legs or struts are attached in proximity to the other end of the vertical structural element to insure that the chimney block essentially remains in the same position to provide an air block.

  • Patent number: 7021006
Abstract: Disclosed is a window assembly for use in mass transit vehicles which allows the quick and easy removal and replacement of transparent sacrificial glazing panels which protect the glazing of the window from vandalism and wear. The window assembly utilizes a sacrificial protective panel and mounting arrangement which allows quick and easy replacement of protective panels on one or both sides of the window assembly, but inhibits removal by non-maintenance personnel such as vandals. The frame of the window assembly incorporates one or more retainers which fit into slots along the interior sides of the window frame and sandwich the glazing between the frame and the retainers. In turn, the retainers are essentially “locked” into position in the frame by an inner protective panel, which significantly inhibits the removal of the retainers from the window assembly when the protective panel is in its desired position against the windowpane.

  • Patent number: 6996936
Abstract: A window sealing and guiding channel for a window frame carried by a vehicle door is arranged to match the sharp angle at the corner of the frame. A distal lip of the wall of the channel on the inside of the window is severed from the remainder of the channel side wall from a point on one side of the sharp corner, through the sharp corner to the end of the channel, and this lip is bent into a smooth curve to bridge across the sharp corner. The lip on the other channel side wall is also severed from the remainder of its side wall at the sharp corner. In addition, the lip of the other channel side wall is cut through to form a mitered joint matching the angle at the sharp corner. The remainder of the channel side walls is removed at the sharp corner and replaced by a previously molded insert having a channel-form at the sharp corner and an extended wall portion filling the gap where the lip of the inside channel wall bridges across the corner.

  • Patent number: 6878428
Abstract: Weatherstripping is provided having a backing which a composite portion is either integral with or adhered to for reducing stretch and shrinkage in the weatherstripping. The composite portion is composed of strand portion, preferably a plurality of strands, embedded in a matrix. The strand portion may be fibreglass and the matrix may be polypropylene. The composite portion is bonded to or integral with the weatherstripping backing along its length such that the strand portion is oriented linearly in the same direction as the backing. The strand portion has a higher tensile modulus than the backing and thus provides resistance to stretching induced by pull forces during installation. The strand portion also tends to resist shrinkage in the backing.

Abstract: A door seal structure for sealing between a door opening portion of a vehicle body and a door frame of a vehicle door. The door seal structure has a protrusion formed in the door frame and protruding inwardly of a glass run holding part for holding a glass run, and a cover member for covering the protrusion and concealing it from a vehicle compartment when the vehicle door is closed. The protrusion has a longitudinally extending depression near a protruding wall of the protrusion, and an inner end edge of the cover member is seated in the longitudinally extending depression. When the vehicle door is closed, the protrusion of the door frame is not seen from the vehicle compartment, and the inner end edge of the cover member does not contact a tubular seal portion of an opening weather strip attached along the door opening portion to prevent wear of the tubular seal portion. Accordingly, the appearance and durability around the door frame are improved.

  • Patent number: 6711858
Abstract: Pile weatherstripping is provided by a flat pile of strands which are tensioned to spring outwardly to straight condition to provide a pile weatherstrip, when bent and inserted into a T-slot or other kerf in a member such as a window or door frame or sash. The tendency of the bent parts of the pile to spring away from each other facilitates retention of the pile after insertion into the slot. A locking fin, more rigid than the pile, is preferably used. This locking fin engages steps or edges in the throat of the slot thereby impeding withdrawal of the weatherstripping from the slot. One or more barrier fins may also be assembled with the strands constituting the flat pile. The pile can be operated in bending mode or in columnar compression (crushing mode). Bending mode operation can be over a bending range so as to accommodate a large range of clearance between a sash and a frame or other members which are sealed by the pile weatherstripping.
