Return Envelope Or Message Card And Main Envelope Patents (Class 493/216)
  • Patent number: 4860945
Abstract: A fan-folded form set comprising a plurality of joined coupon/envelope members which are severable from adjacent coupon/envelope members along lines of perforation, and which coupon/envelope members are separable from each other. Each coupon/envelope is associated for a use, and each of the coupon/envelope members are related to the others in the set. The coupon/envelope members may be largely related in sequence. A method of producing the fan-folded form set and successive such form sets is described.

  • Patent number: 4731048
Abstract: A method for producing mass quantities of discrete envelope and letter assemblies in a continuous operation, each of which includes an envelope and a separate letter having a business-fold disposed within the envelope, both formed from the same single sheet of material, and enabling the producer to print a personalized letter upon the sheet prior to the formation of the envelope assembly. The highly desirable end result which is attained is that the completed letter is in a business-letter-fold and the sheet moves continuously forward as the assembly is formed, such that the salutory heading of the letter opens to view when the letter is withdrawn from the envelope, and the signatory panel is folded between the salutation panel and the intermediate portion of the letter. The method is capable of continuous operation inasmuch as each sheet continuously moves in the same direction throughout each of the steps of the method.

  • Patent number: 4731142
Abstract: The subject invention provides a method of making a pocket folder having a plurality of page inserts from a pre-printed web. A first fold line is provided along a first transverse line which divides the web into integral folder and insert sections. A second fold line is provided along a second transverse line adjacent an end of the folder section opposite the insert section, thereby forming a folder pocket member. A third fold line formed along the longitudinal midline of the folder portion divides the folder portion into first and second cover sheets. The insert section is cut inside of and parallel to opposite longitudinal edges of the web to form lateral marginal portions. The insert portion is also cut adjacent to and parallel with the longitudinal center line to form a pair of insert pages separated by a medial marginal portion. The lateral and medial portions are removed and the insert pages are folded along the first transverse fold line to superpose the folder cover sheets.

  • Patent number: 4668211
Abstract: A mailer is prepared using laser electronic printing with variable data and digitally stored data. The sheet fed Xerox 8700 and 9700 laser printer, for instance, is limited to a width of 11" which necessitates a prefolding of the mailer blank to a length of 14", passing the prefolded blank through the laser printer with the longitudinal axis of the blank extending laterally of the path of feed, arranging the blank such that the 11" printing area will effectively cover the area of the blank to be printed using the digital data and the variable data. A computer communicates with the laser printer for providing individual variable data and form-type digitally stored data. A folder and gluer is provided for folding the blank into a suitable mailer.

  • Patent number: 4545781
Abstract: A combination of a self-opening shopping bag and a coupon packet is disclosed together with apparatus and a method for making same. A flat coupon packet containing coupons is affixed to the front panel of the bag. The coupon packet is sized and positioned widthwise between the side gussets of the bag and spaced apart from the bottom of the bag so that, when the bag is folded flat, only the front and rear panels of the bag underlie the packet. The coupon-applying apparatus is designed and positioned to apply coupons at the beginning of the bag-making procedure. It includes a glue applicator mounted adjacent the former of the bag-making machine for applying a strip of glue to a side of the continuous sheet opposite the forming means, the strip extending lengthwise of the sheet in a predetermined lateral position. A packet feeder is mounted on the former just downstream of the glue applicator for feeding coupon packets lengthwise of the paper flat onto the continuous sheet upon the strip of glue.

Abstract: Envelopes and letter sheets are mounted on a continuous carrier in such a manner that they alternate and are continuously shingled. The envelope flaps are first affixed to the carrier sheet, with the envelopes in an open position and with their flap folds adjacent and parallel to infolds between carrier sheet panels. The letter sheets are then affixed to the same panels, with the free end of each sheet extending across both an outfold and the next infold. When the carrier sheet is fanfolded, each envelope closes over the top margin of the following letter sheet, and the lower margin of each letter sheet extends across the upper margin of the following envelope.
