Abstract: Compounds of Formula I, and their N-oxides and agriculturally-suitable salts, are disclosed which are useful for controlling undesired vegetation ##STR1## wherein: ##STR2## T is O or S; W is a single bond, O, S or NR.sup.6 ;X is N or CH;Y is N or CH;Z is N or CR.sup.7 provided that when Z is CR.sup.7, then Y is N;R.sup.6 is H, CH.sub.3 or OCH.sub.3 ;m is 1 or 2; andR.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5, and R.sup.7 are as defined in the disclosure.Also disclosed are compositions containing the compounds of Formula I and a method for controlling undesired vegetation which involves contacting the vegetation or its environment with an effective amount of a compound of Formula I.

Abstract: A class of 2-aryl-5,6-dihydropyrimidinones and compositions thereof which are useful in the control of weeds is of the general formula ##STR1## wherein Ar is a substituted or unsubstituted aryl or heteroaryl;R.sup.3 is an optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl or alkynyl;R.sup.5a and R.sup.5b are each independently a hydrogen atom, halo, cyano or an optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxy or alkylthio;R.sup.6a and R.sup.6b are each independently a hydrogen atom, halo, cyano, an optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxy or alkylthioalkyl, cycloalkyl, optionally substituted aryl, aryloxy, heterocyclyl or aralkyl, alkylamino, dialkylamino or dialkylaminocarbonyl;R.sup.5a and R.sup.6a taken together with the carbon atoms to which they are attached may form a fused 4-7 member ring containing 2-5 methylenes; andX is an oxygen or a sulfur atom.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are cyanoketone derivatives of the following formula (1) ##STR1## such as 1-cyano-1-piperidinocarbonyl-3-[4-(2-chloro-4-trifluoromethylphenoxy)pheno xy]-2-butanone, 1-cyano-1-piperidinocarbonyl-3-[4-(3-chloro-5-trifluoromethyl-2-pyridyloxy )phenoxy]-2-butanone, 1-cyano-1-(N-methyl-N-dichlorophenyl)aminocarbonyl-3-[4-(2-quinoxalyloxy)p henoxy]-2-butanone, 1-cyano-1-(N,N-dibutyl)aminocarbonyl-3-[4-(3-chloro-5-trifluoromethyl-2-py ridyloxy)phenoxy-2-butanone, and the like, which are characterized by excellent herbicidal activity and effectiveness against a variety of gramineous weeds.

Abstract: A condensed heterocyclic derivative of the formula (I): ##STR1## (wherein R is a hydroxyl group, R.sup.3 or R.sup.4 is an alkoxy group, W is an oxygen atom, Yn is a hydrogen atom, Z is a methine group, and A is a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring which may be substituted, and a herbicide, are presented. When used for paddy field treatment, upland soil treatment and foliage treatment, the condensed heterocyclic derivative of the present invention exhibits excellent herbicidal activities against gramineous and non-gramineous weeds without adversely affecting crop plants.

Abstract: The invention relates to certain substituted fused compounds of Formula I ##STR1## which are useful as herbicides, and their agriculturally suitable compositions, as well as methods for their use as general or selective preemergent or postemergent herbicides or as plant growth regulants.

Abstract: The invention relates to novel compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 have the meanings given in the description, to enol ethers and salts thereof and their preparation, to weed control compositions that comprise such compounds as active ingredients, and to the use of the compounds or compositions to control weeds. The invention relates also to certain novel starting materials and to the preparation thereof.

Abstract: The invention provides compounds of formula I ##STR1## wherein W, D, R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, x, m, n and p are as defined in the description. The compound have valuable pesticidal activity especially against fungi, insects, nematodes, acarids and weeds.

Abstract: The invention is concerned with compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, R.sup.5 and R.sup.6 have the significances given in the description, as well as enol ethers and salts thereof and their manufacture. The compounds have herbicidal properties and are accordingly suitable as active ingredients of weed control compositions. The invention is also concerned with weed control compositions containing one or more of such substances and with the use of the substances or compositions for the control of weeds.
