  • Patent number: 6748713
Abstract: A suspended ceiling provides horizontal areas of different elevation and a transitional area between the horizontal areas. The ceiling comprises a grid of horizontal intersecting supports and panels received by the supports. The transitional area is constructed by inclined supports connected to the horizontal supports by clips of special design. In a situation where three supports converge, a clip is provided having three channels diverging at appropriate angles. In a situation where four supports converge, a clip is provided having four channels diverging at appropriate angles. The clips include tabs which are crimped over the horizontal supports and the inclined supports of the transition area. The clips are of metal and of sufficiently thin gauge so they can be bent to provide the angles necessary in the transition area. An important feature of the invention is the ability to make modules comprising the grid for transition areas on a jig in a shop and transport it to a job site for installation.

  • Patent number: 6729096
Abstract: A system for installing suspended ceilings in large commercial buildings employing t-shaped main and intersecting branch ceiling joists. The main joists are suspended from the purlins of the building by upper brackets that secure to the purlins and by lower brackets that secure to the joists. Rods that are adjustable in length attach the upper brackets to the lower brackets to thereby suspend the joists below the purlins. To install the joists, the rods are adjusted in length so that all the joists are level and are suspended at the desired height within the building. The main joists are spaced approximately 8 feet apart from each other, and the branch joists are spaced approximately 4 feet apart from each and attach to the main joists at right angles so as to form a plurality of frames for supporting 4×8 foot sheets of insulated ceiling board.

Light black granules and light red granules are filled respectively in the outer and inner forming spaces 95, 96. Then, the partition wall 84 is taken out from the die 91, and lining granules are filled over the colored granules. Thereafter, they are pressed into one body and burned.

Abstract: A handrail assembly and a handrail system incorporating the assembly. The handrail assembly includes a handrail which is a formed structure with an inner channel, and a mount structure accommodatable within the channel and having opposing substantially parallel members each having handrail engagement support members pliantly couplable with engagement support member acceptors within the channel. The handrail system incorporates the assembly and a base support structure extending from the mount structure. An expansive fill material can be introduced into the channel to substantially encapsulate the mount structure within the channel and provide protection from the environment. The handrail assembly provides a handrail structure and a mounting structure whereby the mounting structure is pliantly expandable and contractible to accommodate expansion non-compatibility of the mounting structure and the handrail structure due to temperature change.

Abstract: The present invention provides a method of reinforcing a concrete made construction having the step of fixedly securing a grating member acting as a reinforcement onto a surface of a concrete made construction with a fixture so that the fixture imparts tension force to the grating member in a plane of the grating member. The fixture comprises, for instance, an anchor and a pin. The anchor includes an insertion portion to be inserted into a concrete made construction, the insertion portion being formed at a distal end thereof with an expanding slot, an arc-shaped head portion, and a tapered portion connecting the insertion portion to the head portion and having a cross-sectional area increasing from insertion portion towards the head portion, a through hole being formed axially through the anchor. The pin is to be inserted into a concrete made construction through the through hole.

Abstract: This invention relates to a new method for constructing of a building composed of combination of frame members, at an architectural spot, and aims to not only improve the efficiency in construction, but also to realize high insulation and airtightness in the building. Airtight lubricant is smeared on a frame member to be connected to a established frame member at its fitting end. The frame member is connected to the established frame member by dropping or heading, for example, reducing frictional resistance during fitting or connecting process due to the existence of the airtight lubricant. The process realizes high insulation and airtightness in the structure at the joint portion due to the existence of the airtight lubricant.

Abstract: An integrated system of components to completely reface a conventional suspended ceiling. The components are manufactured in discrete sizes and shapes to cover the grids and all grid intersections so that all installed components lie contiguously in the same plane to maintain the original appearance of the ceiling but with a fresh face. The components are designed to be snapped onto the grids using minimal upward force so as not to cause distortion or misalignment of the suspended grids. The installation can be accomplished expeditiously. The only cutting necessary is to adjust the components at the peripheral areas where the precut pieces will not fit the spaces remaining. Very little skill or special tools are required. Complementary panel cover sheets are provided to complete the refacing. The system can be constructed in a variety of colors and textures to blend with or enhance many different styles and modes of decoration. The components can be removed if another refacing is later desired.
