Processes Of Treating A Reaction Product Of A Solid Polymer And Ethylenic Reactant; Or Compositions Therefore E.g., Graft- Or Graft-type Polymer, Etc. Patents (Class 522/149)
Abstract: A liquid jet recording head, having a liquid passage communicated to the discharging outlet of the liquid provided on a substrate surface, said passage being formed by subjecting a layer of a resin composition curable with an active energy ray to a predetermined pattern exposure with the use of said active energy ray to thereby form a cured region of said resin composition and removing the uncured region from said layer, said resin composition comprising (i) a graft copolymerized polymer, (iii) an epoxy resin comprising at least one compound having one or more epoxy groups in the molecule and (iv) a polymerization initiator capable of generating a Lewis acid by irradiation of an active energy ray.
Abstract: A radiation curable pressure-sensitive adhesive composition comprising a liquid oligomer having one or more acrylic double bonds in its molecule, a chain transfer agent and an aliphatic polar monomer having a carboxyl group can give an adhesive tape excellent in rubber-like properties, high in cohesive force and good in adhesiveness at low temperatures.
Abstract: A method for the manufacture of a reactive polymer, which comprises causing (A) a polymer containing a free carboxylic group in an acid equivalent in the range of 0.01 to 5 milliequivalent/g and (B) an unsaturated aziridine compound possessing one aziridinyl group and at least one radically polymerizable unsaturated group in the molecular unit thereof to react with each other in proportions such that the amount of said unsaturated aziridine compound falls in the range of 0.05 to 1.2 mole per 1.0 mole of said free carboxylic group of said polymer at a temperature in the range of 40.degree. to 150.degree. C., and the reactive polymer obtained by such method.
Abstract: For the production of printing plates, in particular lithographic printing plates by exposing a photopolymerizable recording material imagewise to actinic light and then effecting development with an aqueous alkaline developer, it is proposed to use photopolymerizable recording materials possessing a photopolymerizable copying layer (L) applied on a dimensionally stable base, where, in addition to containing ethylenically unsaturated photopolymerizable low molecular weight compounds, one or more photoinitiators, dyes and/or pigments, and, if required, further additives and/or assistants, the said copying layer (L) also contains, as a binder, one or more oligomeric and/or relatively high molecular weight copolymers which are soluble or dispersible in aqueous alkaline media and are based on cyclic dienes, in particular unsubstituted or substituted cyclopentadiene or unsubstituted or substituted di- or tricyclopentadiene.

Abstract: The invention relates to acrylic telomers with grafts which can be cross linked by light, methods of synthesizing them and their applications. The telomers comprise a telogen of the mercaptan family, in particular dodecanethiol, and links of a taxogen of the acrylic family, some of which are grafted. The telomers are synthesized semi-continuously by radical initiation in the presence of initiators such as azobisisobutyronitrile, at a temperature below 75.degree. C., making it possible to obtain a number of links adapted to the desired applications. Grafting is carried out by means of glycidyl and aziridinyl groups.

Abstract: Provided is a method for producing and a soft-rubbery matrix material composed of 0.3-70 micron particles of a 50,000-300,000 molecular weight cross-linkable polymer dispersed in a fluxable elastomer where the polymer's softening point temperature exceeds the elastomer's fluxing temperature and the polymer and elastomer are combined and mixed at a temperature maintained above the fluxing temperature of the elastomer but below the softening point temperature of the polymer.
Abstract: Novel polymeric photocleavable photoinitiators are prepared by the hydrosilation reaction of an organosilicon hydride grafting agent which has a photoinitiating aromatic-aliphatic ketone derivative of at least one organo group, with a polymer having a plurality of unsaturated olefinic or acetylenic sites in the presence of a hydrosilation catalyst. Preferred polymers are butadiene or alkyl substituted butadiene polymers and copolymers and vinyl functional polyorganosiloxanes. The grafting agents have the formula (hv)--R.sup.8 --R.sup.5 --H wherein (hv) is a photoinitiating aromatic-aliphatic ketone group, R.sup.8 is selected from alkylene, alkenylene, alkylenoxy and oxy groups, and R.sup.5 is selected from ##STR1## the R.sup.6 groups are the same or different organo or halo groups and n is an integer.
