Gas Force Responsive Patents (Class 55/313)
  • Patent number: 10737209
Abstract: Systems and methods for detecting a missing coalescing element in a CV system are described. In some arrangements, the described systems and methods prevent the assembly and/or re-assembly of the CV system without an appropriate coalescing element positioned within the CV system housing (e.g., during a coalescing element service operation). In some arrangements, the coalescing element depresses a spring-loaded component of a shaft that provides flow of bypass gases to the CV system. If the spring-loaded component is not depressed, significant restriction is introduced to the CV system, and an on-board-diagnostic system may detect high-crankcase pressure through existing crankcase pressure sensors and de-rate the internal combustion engine. In other arrangements, a spring-loaded mechanism within the shaft prevents a housing cover (e.g., a lid to the housing of the CV system) from being repositioned when a coalescing element is not installed within the housing.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a coupling head for coupling a towing vehicle to a trailer. According to the invention, in the coupling head a filter element is used. The filter element is bypassed by a continuously open by-pass. Preferably, the path through the by-pass has at least one redirection in the region of an undercut. As a result of the redirection, contaminants in the compressed air are not or not fully transferred through the by-pass. The by-pass might also ensure a supply of compressed air to the trailer, for example, when the filter element is at least partly blocked due to the contaminants. According to the invention, a valve element used to open the by-pass in the case of increasing blockage of the filter element is not required.

  • Publication number: 20110286167
Abstract: The present invention relates to an air cleaner for the removal of pollutants from an air flow by a filter module, the filter module of which comprises at least one permeable filter layer for the accumulation of pollutants on the filter layer. According to the invention, a bypass channel will be provided and established such that part of the unfiltered air flow may bypass any filter layer. Surprisingly, such a bypass channel does hardly compromise the cleaning effect of the filter module, at least as long as the filter layer has not yet been clogged with pollutants since in this case the biggest part of the air flow will take the major path through the filter layer due to lack of resistance. Only if the filter layer is clogged and if resistance for the air flow increases, air will obviously flow through the mentioned bypass channel.

  • Patent number: 4945722
Abstract: A soot filtering unit in the exhaust gas system of a diesel internal combustion engine that includes at least two parallel soot filters. For regeneration, a regeneration device, having at least one burner and control flap, is provided upstream from the soot filters of the soot filtering unit. The burner(s) provided in the soot filtering unit supplies high temperature gases for the regeneration of the soot filters, and exhaust gas from the exhaust gas pipe is fed thereto as an oxygen carrier for the combustion process. According to a first embodiment, a single burner is provided for all soot filters to be regenerated and the burner does not lie directly in the pipes of the exhaust gas pipe that conveys exhaust gas to the soot filters. Preferably, exhaust gas is supplied to the burner(s) through separate exhaust gas feed pipes but, alternatively, a separate burner can be located directly in each branch of the exhaust pipe upstream of the respective soot filter provided therein.

  • Patent number: 4502875
Abstract: An air intake for a helicopter mounted gas turbine engine comprises two intake portions which comprises vortex separator panels. One panel is generally forward facing while the other is generally sideways facing. A panel is pivotally mounted between the separator panels so as to pivot between a first position in which it obturates the generally sideways facing panel and a second position in which it obturates neither of the separator panels. The arrangement is such that when the helicopter is in fast forward flight, the pressure of the ram air flow through the generally forward facing inlet panel causes the pivoted panel to pivot to the position in which it obturates the generally sideways facing inlet panel.
