At least a part of the organosilicon-containing substance is hydrolyzed. The reaction product is homogeneous and contains residual hydroxyl moieties from the hydrophobic polyol and residual moieties bonded directly to silicon which are easily displaceable. the reaction product is capable of self-curing, optionally with a catalyst, by reaction with moisture and/or with the residual hydroxyl moieties, of the residual moieties directly bonded to silicon which are easily displaceable.

Abstract: A process for preparing silyl maleates, fumarates, succinates and phthalates comprising reacting an olefinic containing maleates, fumarates, succinates or phthalates with hydrogenotrichlorosilane in the presence of the platinum catalyst and then reacting the product thereof with methanol wherein the methanol is added slowly over a period of at least 6 hours to the intermediate product such that it is introduced beneath and into the liquid layer of intermediate product where most of the HCl that is formed by the reaction is removed by azeotroping it out with the methanol and water along with the HCl dissolved therein and removing the azeotrope as it being formed.
Abstract: Monomeric polysiloxanes end-capped with activated unsaturated groups polymerized with acrylic acid and a comonomer comprising a polycyclic ester of acrylic acid or methacrylic acid to form a hydrophilic, water absorbing contact lens is disclosed. These polysiloxane polymer contact lenses are unexpectedly capable upon hydration of retaining from 1 percent to about 99 percent by weight of water, based upon the total weight of the dry, i.e., unhydrated polymer.

Abstract: A novel photocurable organopolysiloxane composition is proposed capable of giving a cured product having a very high anti-moisture resistance even at an elevated temperature to withstand a treatment in boiling water for 1 hour or longer without coming off from the substrate surface on which it has been applied and cured by irradiation with light. The composition comprises a specific acryloyloxy-containing organopolysiloxane as the base component, an epoxy compound and a photosensitizer. The composition is suitable, for example, for providing a moisture-proof overcoating on various electronic parts such as a capacitor.
