Reciprocating-cutter Type Patents (Class 56/158)
  • Patent number: 4081946
Abstract: A crop harvesting machine has a crop harvesting header, a mobile frame and improved header suspension and lift means. The frame includes an upper transverse elongated member and a pair of spaced apart side members fixed to the upper member proximate its opposite ends and extending downwardly therefrom. A pair of wheel arms extend rearwardly from the respective side frame members and are mounted to respective lower portions thereof for vertical swinging movement about a generally horizontal transversely-extending axis. Each wheel arm has a ground-engaging wheel rotatably mounted thereto. The improved header suspension and lift means includes an upper link pivotally interconnecting an upper portion of the header to the upper frame member and a pair of elongated lower members respectively extending forwardly of the wheel arms.

  • Patent number: 4044535
Abstract: A non-soil penetrating sugar cane harvesting blade assembly adapted to be connected to a tractor tool bar and consisting of top and bottom circular housing members with a rigidly-connected central shaft on which is journalled a disc member extending beyond the rim portion of the housing members and having cutting blades secured to its periphery. A ground-engaging skid is secured to the bottom housing member and maintains the cutting blades at a constant cutting height. A hydraulic motor is mounted on the top housing member and is drivingly connected to the disc member. The disc and housing members are linearly guided for upward and downward movement relative to the tool bar, and are biased downwardly by a spring acting between the top housing member and the tool bar and supported on an upstanding post member secured on the top housing member. One or more shock absorbers cushion relative movement of the cutter housing assembly with respect to the tool bar.

  • Patent number: 4041678
Abstract: A "short turn" vehicle having front and rear, centerline mounted, power driven, steerable wheels, and a pair of outrigger stabilizing wheels that are mounted on a rigid frame which is restrained against all but vertical movement relative to the frame. The vehicle is capable of zero radius turns under full load. The vehicle is ideally suited as a conveyance of rotary mowers since the vehicle's wheels "guard" the rotary mowing unit and three preferred arrangements thereof are shown and described.

  • Patent number: 4031965
Abstract: A wing folding or lift kit adapted to be easily installed on the central frame members of foldable, multi-sectioned earthworking implements to selectively move pivotally mounted side sections or wings. A centrally mounted floating hydraulic cylinder has linkage arms hinged on the ends thereof, with the outer ends of said arms attached, by lost-motion links, to cross members of the wings. In cylinder-extended position, the wings are free to follow ground contour without "working" the cylinder. Upon contraction of the cylinder, the wings are rotated or folded.

  • Patent number: 3995411
Abstract: A four point mounting system for a header type implement mounted on a support vehicle or tractor in which the lower support or push arms are solid and of a greater length than of the upper arms which are telescopic and provided with knuckle joints or dual pivot couplings on either end of the telescopic parts connecting the tractor and the vehicle. This provides for a greater range of oscillation of the implement relative to the support vehicle for traversing uneven terrain.

  • Patent number: 3977166
Abstract: A rake comprising a frame, a plurality of rake wheels rotatably journalled by the frame and three members for fastening the frame to the three suspension rods of a tractor is simplified due to the fact that the fastening members are arranged on the three ends of a T-shaped frame tilted over an acute angle.

  • Patent number: 3961464
Abstract: A cutterbar control system for an agricultural or highway mower having a longitudinally rotatable pull bar connecting the tractor hitch frame and the drag bar. The cutterbar gag link is connected to the pull bar at a point removed from its axis of rotation and a float spring and lifting chain are mounted to the pull bar to rotate it against the load imposed by the cutterbar gag link. The pull bar is extendible in response to overloads imposed on the cutterbar.

  • Patent number: 3959957
Abstract: A crop harvesting machine has a mobile frame adapted to move across a field, an elongated crop material harvesting header and an improved pair of assemblies laterally spaced apart along the frame for suspending the header from the frame. Each of the assemblies includes a lower link pivotally interconnecting a lower portion of the header and a lower portion of the frame and an upper link pivotally mounted on an upper frame portion and having front and rear portions which respectively extend forwardly and rearwardly from the location of pivotal mounting of the upper link on the upper frame portion. The front portion of each upper link is pivotally connected to an upper header portion.

  • Patent number: 3958399
Abstract: A crop harvesting header and power unit or tractor of a self-propelled windrower incorporate improved structure for attaching the header to the tractor. The improved structure includes a saddle bracket fixed to an outer end of each of a pair of laterally spaced apart lower lift arms pivotally mounted on the forward end of the tractor and a spacer sleeve mounted to each of a pair of correspondingly spaced apart lower portions of the header. Each header sleeve may readily be seated within a respective one of the saddle brackets on the lower lift arms by the tractor operator manipulating the position of the lower lift arms and maneuvering the tractor. The improved attaching structure further includes a front lip formed on each saddle bracket which will overlie a retaining pin insertably mounted in each respective lower header portion by the operator adjacent each header sleeve after the sleeve has been seated in its corresponding lift arm saddle bracket.

  • Patent number: 3955344
Abstract: A pitman mower has a hitch frame, a drag bar, a cutterbar pivotally attached to the drag bar for pivotal movement in the transverse vertical plane and a drive mechanism for the cutterbar mounted on the drag bar. A pair of fore-and-aft extending links interconnect the hitch frame and drag bar in a generally horizontal four bar parallel linkage, the left link being resilient in the transverse direction, preferably comprising a leaf spring, having one end rigidly connected to its adjacent member. The right link comprises a breakaway pull bar assembly rotatable about an axis generally longitudinal thereof and has a float spring and lifting chain connected thereto and disposed to rotate the pull bar against the load imposed thereon by a gag link connected to the pull bar away from the axis of rotation thereof and extending to the cutterbar to control its rotation about the drag bar.
