Variable Draft Patents (Class 57/317)
  • Patent number: 7721519
Abstract: A method which improves the correspondence between the produced fancy yarn and the predetermined configuration of said fancy yarn. The fancy yarn is guided through a sensor device in a spinning device after it is formed and the diameter of the fancy yarn is continuously measured by the sensor device. The fancy configuration of the produced yarn is determined on the basis of the measured values of the diameter and is compared with the predetermined fancy configuration. The comparison is carried out until sufficient correspondence between the predetermined fancy configuration and the fancy configuration of the optimized, produced yarn is achieved.

  • Patent number: 7043894
Abstract: For an air spinning frame, reluctance motors are provided for each spinning place to drive the pairs of rollers of the drafting unit, the drawing-off means, and the friction roller. Thereby, for the run-up of a spinning place, e.g., after a thread break, a specific frequency converter is provided. After reaching the stationary operating speed, a switch over onto a further frequency converter takes place, at which time, the corresponding reluctance motors of the other spinning places are driven in parallel. By the use of reluctance motors it can be done without a complex speed regulation means. A specific dimensioning of the reluctance motors permits a very fast run-up and a particularly good efficiency during the stationary operation.

  • Patent number: 6691501
Abstract: In a spinning position of a spinning machine a longitudinal fibre array first is refined in a drafting process, and the refined fibre array then is subject to a twist imparting process, and is taken off the twist-imparting zone as a yarn. In case of an interruption of the spinning process, the intake into the refinement zone is stopped before the delivery from the refining zone is stopped in such a manner that the longitudinal fibre array is severed between the intake and the delivery zones forming a free front end zone. The free end of the yarn, generated by the interruption of the spinning process, is treated in such a manner that a yarn end zone is tapered and is positioned upstream from the twist imparting zone. When the spinning process is resumed, the movements of the yarn end zone and of the fibre array front end zone for imparting twist are coordinated in time sequence in such a manner that these two zones overlap as they are subject to the twist imparting process.

  • Patent number: 6679043
Abstract: A spinning machine includes a plurality of spinning stations or places. Each spinning place includes a yarn formation mechanism that is supplied with staple fiber material in the form of a longitudinal object. Each spinning place includes a refining mechanism by way of which the longitudinal object is refined prior to the fiber material being supplied to a yarn formation mechanism. Each refining mechanism is independently drivable and controllable with respect to the other refining mechanisms. At least one sensor is disposed at each of the spinning places to detect at least one measurable property correlated with fiber mass per unit of length. A controlling monitoring unit is configured to receive and process data measured by the sensor. A control monitoring unit is configured with the refining mechanism at the associated spinning place for control of the refining mechanism as a function of the property detected and measured by the sensor independent of the refining mechanisms at other spinning places.

  • Patent number: 6536200
Abstract: A composite textured helically wrapped multi-filament yarn, made up of two or more continuous filament textured yarns, each of which is of different color or dyeability from the other, each yarn being pigmented in a melt-spinning process, pre-dyed, or undyed with different dye affinities which are subsequently dyed, by wrapping the colored textured yarns into a composite yarn having repeated color change alternating cycles along its length, and the alternating cycles having between them a lengthwise color difference of about 15-97% or more on the circumferential surface of the yarn in either the red, green or blue primary colors, as measured by spectral analysis, between immediately adjacent lengths thereof, and each adjacent color length being between about 4 inches to 144 inches.

  • Publication number: 20020124545
Abstract: In a spinning machine with a plurality of spinning places each spinning place is provided with a yarn formation means (6) and a refining means (1) which is disposed upstream of the yarn formation means. Every spinning place is supplied with a longitudinal object made of staple fibers which is refined by the refining means (1) and is spun into a yarn by the yarn formation means (6). Every spinning place is provided with sensor means (10, 11) for detecting the fiber mass in the supplied fiber material and/or in the produced yarn. Moreover, at least a part of the refining means (1) can be driven or controlled in each spinning place independent from the other spinning places. A control and monitoring unit (12) produces control data on the basis of the measured data which concern the fiber mass and are produced in a spinning place, which control data are for the independently controllable parts of the refining means (1), and controls the same accordingly.

  • Patent number: 6012277
Abstract: A yarn is spun by dividing a traveling fiber assembly into a plurality of fiber sub-assemblies, causing the sub-assemblies to traverse different paths and then recombining them, wherein the paths are sufficiently proximate for fibers to continuously transfer from one or more of the sub-assemblies and be drawn onto or into another or other sub-assemblies. Also disclosed is a method for forming a yarn comprising twisting a plurality of fiber sub-assemblies together at a convergence point to form a fiber assembly being a yarn, and further including cyclically altering the relative twist propagation in and/or into the sub-assemblies upstream of the convergence point. Still further disclosed are alternative methods involving cyclic variation of paths traversed by the sub-assemblies, and cyclic alteration of the relative positions of the sub-assemblies. Apparatus is described for carrying out each method.

  • Patent number: 4926626
Abstract: A method and apparatus for flamme fancy yarn manufacture for textile production of various number of effects along the length and in a given length of ready-made yarn, irrespective of the length of the fibres of the inlet product both from short staple and long staple material as the flamme fancy yarn is obtained by simultaneous feeding of two slivers with one and the same staple fibres length, as one of the slivers may not be subjected to a permanent force in the draft zone, it may be drawn normally without breaking to be used for the formation of a core thread. The apparatus for achieving the method has the advantage of an easy readjustable construction, and the ability to change the range of products without replacement of the performing elements.

  • Patent number: 4569192
Abstract: An apparatus for producing special yarn made of a fiber strand in which a number of fibers are randomly arranged along the lengthwise direction thereof, in which special yarn at least one of the yarn structural parameters, e.g., yarn count number or number of twist, changes along the lengthwise direction of the yarn.A pattern of change of the parameters of the yarn structure with respect to the length of the special yarn to be produced is stored in a central processing device, while a spun length of the special yarn is measured by a sensor. The yarn structural parameters are changed to correspond to the pattern set to the central processing device and the special yarn is produced by the yarn forming device using another central processing device of the spinning frame. This apparatus can be used for a ring spinning frame, an open end spinning frame, a fasciated yarn spinning frame, and the like.
