Having Operator Access Patents (Class 57/407)
  • Patent number: 7111446
Abstract: An open-end spinning unit, which comprises a spinning rotor 1 that rotates during the spinning operation at a high rotational speed in a closed rotor housing 2. The spinning rotor is rotated by an individual electric motor drive 18 and supported in a smoothly running bearing assembly. When the drive is disconnected and the rotor housing is properly closed by a cover element 8, the spinning rotor is biased and rotated by an airflow resulting from a vacuum prevailing in the rotor housing and the motor drive operates as a generator. At least one of the electric quantities Pv, Gv which develop during the generator operation of the drive 18 is monitored, and upon exceeding a threshold value which can only be attained when the cover element is properly closed, a signal S is generated and processed in a control unit 30 to cause the cover element 8 on the rotor housing 2 to be locked, and thereafter the drive 18 is connected to its electrical supply to rotate the rotor at high speed.

  • Patent number: 6834490
Abstract: In an arrangement for application in open-end rotor spinning, an opening roller is housed in a swivel housing. The swivel housing can, together with the assembled opening roller, be removed from the arrangement for open-end rotor spinning when the machine is in operation. The opening roller, due to its mass, continues to rotate after it has been separated from the tangential belt which drives it. A locking device is provided which prevents the removal of the swivel housing when the opening roller is rotating. This results in the opening roller being at a standstill when the swivel housing is removed. The risk of injury caused by a still rotating opening roller is eliminated.

  • Patent number: 5640838
Abstract: In preparation of the piecing process in an open-end rotor spinning device, negative pressure is first applied in a housing containing the spinning rotor, and the rotor cover is brought from its operating position into a fiber evacuation position in which it is lifted off from the housing. Fiber feeding is then switched on. The fiber stream produced thereby, together with the air stream which conveys the fibers is deflected and is evacuated by means of the negative pressure prevailing in the housing over the open rotor edge from the interior of the rotor and from the housing, until the rotor cover is brought back into its operating position to convey fibers to the fiber collection groove.

  • Patent number: 5454219
Abstract: A housing encloses a rotor, an opening roller, and a conduit communicating between the rotor and opening roller for the feeding of fiber from the opening roller to the rotor. The housing forms a trash removal chamber below the opening roller into which trash is discharged toward the bottom of the chamber during operation of the opening roller; the area of the opening roller where the trash is discharged is the trash outlet opening. The rotation of the opening roller creates an air flow draft in the direction of rotation. This air flow draft, taken in combination with suction applied in the rotor of the open-end spinning unit, creates an air flow suction draft from the chamber through the conduit in the direction of the opening roller rotation. An air flow is provided in the trash removal chamber in and from the chamber in a direction counter to the direction of the air flow draft rotating with the opening roller in the region of the trash outlet opening.
