Abstract: A method of spinning-in yarn on an operating unit of a rotor spinning machine includes steps of yarn preparation for spinning-in, steps of spinning rotor preparation for spinning-in, and final spinning-in steps. The final spinning-in steps include at least the beginning of the sliver supply to the singling-out device, leading of the fibers from the singling-out device away from the spinning rotor for a predetermined time interval, letting the spinning-in yarn end get into contact with the collecting groove of the spinning rotor, and starting of the yarn draw-off and winding. At least some final spinning-in steps are time synchronized in relation to the closing of the spinning unit thus obtaining optimum piecer quality repeatedly at all operating units of the machine.

  • Patent number: 6553750
Abstract: A spinning rotor of an open-end spinning device is slowed down for piecing to a low rotational piecing speed and is then accelerated to the operating speed. For this purpose, the spinning rotor or an element in driving connection with it is presented a drive transmission device from a service unit by means of which the spinning rotor can be switched from normal production speed to a reduced piecing speed and back. In this process, the drive transmission device can be driven either by a driving apparatus installed on the service unit or by a drive belt extending within spinning machine. The driving apparatus mounted on the service unit is connected to a control device for the control of the evolution of the rotational speed of the spinning rotor. The spinning rotor is driven according to a rotational speed course controlled by means of a program applied by the control device during the time when its rotational speed deviates from its operating speed.

Abstract: A process and apparatus are provided for the manufacture of a composite fibrous strand comprising glass fibers. Glass fibers and an additive fibrous material (e.g., thermoplastic polymeric fibers) are each introduced separately into a substantially rotationally symmetric zone that is closed circumferentially except for a longitudinal introduction locale. The glass fibers and the fibers of the additive fibrous material are subjected to a vortex to form a homogeneous composite fibrous strand. Good admixture of the fibrous components is made possible thereby facilitating the ultimate production of composite articles wherein the glass fibers are disposed as reinforcement in a highly uniform manner. Such homogeneity and uniformity provides improved mechanical properties to the end user.
