Abstract: What is shown is a spinning device (1) and a method for spinning up a spinning device (1) for the continuous extrusion of molded bodies (3) from a spinning solution (6), as well as a spin-up device (11) for the execution of the method, in which method the molded bodies (3) are extruded from the spinning solution (6) through spinnerets (7) of the spinning device (1) in the form of a loose spinning curtain (2), the molded bodies (3) of the loose spinning curtain (2) are, after the extrusion, combined into a molded body bundle (4), and the molded body bundle (4) is, in a further step, fed to a draw-off member (10) of the spinning device (1) in order to start a continuous extrusion of the molded bodies (3). In order to make the method for spinning up the spinning device (1) simpler and more reproducible, it is proposed that the molded bodies (3) be combined into the molded body bundle (4) by twisting the spinning curtain (2) around a torsion axis (20).

  • Patent number: 6560954
Abstract: A high-speed binder application device for wrapping binder material about a bundle of buffer tubes that contain optical fibers includes a pair of opposite facing binder heads mounted on a pair of hollow shafts, each shaft being driven in rotation by a concentric drive. Each binder head includes a light-weight synthetic guide drum that dispenses binder material from a reel and onto the bundle of buffer tubes as it is advanced through the hollow shafts. The lightweight and high strength of the synthetic guide drums allows the drums to be rotated at speeds in excess of 4000 RPM. Each drive is concentrically mounted on its respective shaft which reduces or eliminates the shaft bending loads associated with prior belt-driven binder devices, and thus reduces vibrations at higher rotational speeds.

Abstract: The present invention proposes a twisting device having enhanced productivity. A pair of fiber cakes are simultaneously hung on a transversely hung creel. The pair of fiber cakes respectively unloosen two fiber strands downwards during the rotation process of the creel. Each of the two fiber strands passes through a strand-cut sensor and then enters a balloon control ring. Through the guide of an oil ring, each of the fiber strands is twisted and then wound around a bobbin driven by a spindle motor. The pair of balloon control rings and the pair of oil rings are simultaneously driven by a ring rail to move upwards and downwards on the bobbin. Therefore, a pair of fiber strands and a pair of bobbins can use the same creel, thereby doubling the productivity per unit time per unit ground area.

  • Patent number: 5657622
Abstract: A yarn twister mechanically twists a filamentary yarn prior to take-up so as to improve filament-to-filament cohesion. The yarn twister most preferably includes an annular housing defining an annular race in which a follower element is orbitally movable. Pressurized fluid (e.g., air) is introduced substantially tangentially into the race so as to propel the follower in an orbital path along the race. The follower includes a yarn guide element which radially extends through an annular slot in the housing into the housing's cylindrical interior region. The pressurized fluid is discharged through the slot into the cylindrical interior region of the housing so as to provide a fluid bearing for the follower. In use, the traveling yarn will thereby be guided through the yarn guide so that orbital movement of the follower will responsively impart a desirable twist to the yarn so as to increase the filament-to-filament cohesion of the yarn.

  • Patent number: 5647195
Abstract: A method for twisting a pair of moving strands uses a winder assembly 510, which is mounted on a first shaft 140 and rotates around a cylindrical drum 110. Twisted wire is wrapped in adjacent convolutions around an exterior surface of the cylindrical drum, which is mounted on a second shaft 150. The exterior surface is energized to advance the convolutions from its input end to its output end; and an unwinder assembly 520 is mounted on a third shaft 160 at the output end of the drum. The shafts are coaxial with each other and each is capable of independent rotational movement. The volume of strand material stored on the drum may be varied by changing the relative rotational speeds and directions of the different shafts. A twist in one direction is imparted onto the strand pair when the number of convolutions stored on the drum is increased; and a twist in the opposite direction is imparted onto the strand pair when the number of convolutions stored on the drum is decreased.
