Abstract: A male incontinence device includes a receptacle formed of a shape-retaining material, and having a first open end adapted for receiving the penis of a user and a second end defining a urine discharge port. The discharge port is adapted for being located forward of the penis. A back flow chamber is formed with an interior of the receptacle, and is adapted for capturing urine flowing backward towards the user and away from the discharge port. A collection bag has a mouth communicating with the discharge port for collecting urine discharged through the receptacle. A support harness is adapted for being worn by the user to support the receptacle in an operative position during use.

Abstract: Novel component devices for urine management systems including a novel collection device, a novel conveyance tube, and a novel storage container. The collection device, a novel male catheter, comprises a waterproof, thin-walled conduction tube surrounding the penis, having wettable internal walls and containing a spacing wick. At one end, the conduction tube is connected to, or surrounded by, an elastic compression tube that provides a uniform compressive force around the girth of the penis for attachment and liquid seal to said penis, and at the other end is attached to a fitting that connects to the conveyance tube. The elastic compression tube is radially expanded prior to donning and, when in place over the penis, is allowed to elastically retract, providing radial compression for comfortable, and leak-free fit and use.

Abstract: A retractable and disposable urinal which can be retracted, can be directed and can be joined with a plastic conveyer to the male or female organ and comprises: a plastic retractable tube formed by a plurality of convolutions, having at its bottom a closed convolution and at its top a hollowed neck closed at its bottom side where an absorber polymer is put, the conveyer entering the neck opens the protection film and the membrane of the neck allowing the polymer to fall down the tube, this polymer when is in contact with the urine absorbs it and transforms it in gel.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a container device (1) for collecting urine. The container device comprises a holding member (5), a flexible container (1), connected to the holding member (5), which is arranged to receive the urine and a superabsorbent powder (4) enclosed is said flexible container, (1) and arranged to make the urine congeal. Said superabsorbent powder (4) is enclosed in the flexible container (1), in a package (3) which is manufactured in a urine soluble material.

Abstract: The invention provides male external catheters having kink-resistant drainage stems as well as methods for making male external catheters having kink-resistant drainage stems. Specifically, the invention provides male external catheters having a drainage stem designed to reduce or prevent kinking that can occur during use when a drainage hose fitting and drainage hose are attached to the catheter. The invention also provides male external catheters having skin-friendly compounds and methods for making male external catheters having skin-friendly compounds. Specifically, the invention provides male external catheters designed to have skin-friendly compounds that contact the user's skin when the catheter is being used.

Abstract: There is disclosed herein a male incontinence device comprising a form of brief having a waistband adapted to be worn around the waist of a male wearer, a reservoir assembly having an upper end securely attached to the waistband, and a penis condom having an upper end portion. The incontinence device includes a unique quick release and locking mechanism for the upper end of the penis condom to allow the same to be firmly attached to any size penis of a wearer of the device. The penis condom has a lower opening communicating via an anti-siphon valve with the reservoir. A drain assembly is coupled with the lower end of the reservoir to allow selective drainage of the reservoir, and the drain assembly has one or more fluid locking devices, to lock the drain assembly and prevent accidental drainage of the urine reservoir.

Abstract: An elastomeric composition includes a single S-EB-S block copolymer having at least about 15 weight percent of styrene end blocks, wherein the weight average molecular weight of the styrene end blocks is at least about 7,000 Daltons and the weight average molecular weight of ethylene-butylene midblocks is at least about 60,000 Daltons, and a plasticizer in an amount sufficient to provide tactility in products made from the composition. To prepare articles such as medical film protective devices, the elastomeric composition is dissolved in a sufficient amount of a solvent to permit dip forming. A form having the shape of the desired product is dipped into the solution to build up a film of the elastomeric composition on the form. The dip-formed elastomeric films are free of pinholes and resistant to oxidative and ozone attack. The films are particularly suitable for use in products such as examination, surgical, and industrial gloves and condoms.

Abstract: The present invention is a male urinary incontinence management device comprising a base support portion, an external condom catheter portion, and an adjustable strap portion. The base support portion has a periphery of generally uniform thickness, a concave rear surface, a stiffened central support portion, and an aperture which passes through the central portion. The external condom catheter portion is attached to the base support portion and is in fluid communication with the aperture. An adjustment means is carried by the base support portion. The adjustable strap portion releasably and adjustably attaches to the base support portion at the adjustment means. The base support portion can be used with either conventional external condom catheters or external condom catheters according to the present invention.

Abstract: An external urinary catheter for the relief of male urinary incontinence is provided. The catheter comprises a contact member which is adapted to be engaged with at least the extreme portion of a penis, said contact member being connected to a discharge conduit via an opening in the distal end section of the contact member. The catheter is provided with an aperture. A membrane, which is capable of selectively passing gases but retaining urine, is fastened to the surface surrounding the aperture. The membrane is at least partly protected by a shield. At least one vent for allowing gases to be in substantially unhindered contact with the external surface of the membrane is arranged in the catheter.

Abstract: The urine collecting assembly is provided having a urine receptacle and a urine collector. In the provided assembly, the urine receptacle has a male organ enclosing case with an outer vertical flange, an inner vertical flange and an outer horizontal flange. The urine receptacle also has a catheter connected to the case of the receptacle with its inner horizontal flange, this inner horizontal flange being mounted on the outer horizontal flange means of the case. The urine collector of the present invention has a collecting compartment and is connected to the catheter of the receptacle with a connecting tube. The outer vertical flange of the case of the receptacle is supporting the male organ of the patient so that the inner vertical flange of the case and the inner horizontal flange of the catheter are preventing the flow-back of the urine, thereby keeping the pubic area of the patient free of moisture.

Abstract: An article, particularly a glove or condom, of polyisoprene that is cross-linked with a curing package that comprises diisopropyl xanthogen or xanthogen disulfide. The glove or condom surface is smooth, continuous and defect-free as viewed with a scanning electron microscope. The articles demonstrate improved latex stability over polyisoprene articles currently in use.

Abstract: The invention is of a male urinary system which, at its heart, includes a penis/urinary collection interface unit of a design which both collects urine without significant backflow during or after use and is sized and shaped for easy maneuvering into position, even when encountering restrictive spaces caused by body casts, braces, etc. Because the penis/urinary collection interface unit does not itself serve as the urine collection receptacle, but is merely in fluid communication therewith by a length of conduit, the collected urine will, if the system is used as intended, sit safely at a distance on the floor next to the patient's bed, or suspended from a hanging device or bracket attached to the patient's bed.

The composition contains a reactive monomer cross-linker, that facilitates cross-linking of the reaction product upon contact of the cross-linker-containing composition with a particle beam from a radiation source.

Abstract: In a method for manufacturing a thin-walled, skin-contacting elastomeric article to be worn over a human body part, an article-shaped form is dipped into a latex composition that has been mixed with the extract of the plant Aloe vera forming the article. The article is processed and cured so that the extract is present within the article as one or combination of a polymer, co-polymer and filler of the article. An Aloe vera coating may be applied to at least one surface of the article.

Abstract: A urine absorbent pouch for male incontinence which completely surrounds the patient's penis, thereby minimizing the patient's exposure to wetness. The pouch is constructed from a piece of material which has a hole portion and a continuous portion, the hole portion containing a hole which is adapted to receive a patient's penis. A plurality of sealing means are located along the edges of the hole portion so when the sealing means are sealed onto the continuous portion, there is minimal contact between the sealing means and the patient. Additionally, a urine absorbent pouch for male incontinence can be created from a commercially available baby diaper by cutting a hole in the diaper and attaching additional sealing means to the portion of the diaper with the hole.

Abstract: A disposable absorbent shield for men which arranged to be worn in an undergarment to trap and collect small amounts of leaking urine. The shield has a flexible chassis and a pair of side-by-side adhesive stripes on it to releasably mount it within the undergarment. The adhesive stripes are initially covered by a removable release strip until the shield is ready for use. The chassis includes a front portion arranged to be located over the penis and contiguous lower abdominal region and a crotch portion arranged to be located in the crotch and between the legs. The chassis is made up of an outer cover, an inner liner and a liquid absorbent core interposed therebetween. The chassis is a very thin planar flexible structure having a modified T-shaped periphery including an upper transverse portion forming the upper portion of the chassis and a downwardly extending longitudinal portion forming the crotch portion of the chassis.

The male incontinence device includes a housing that has a front wall and a back wall defining an interior of the housing. The back wall of the housing has an access opening for providing access to the interior of the housing. In one embodiment of the present invention, the end of a penis is inserted into the interior of the housing through the access opening. An intermediate wall is mounted in the interior of the housing dividing the interior into an upper compartment and a lower compartment. In one embodiment of the present invention, the end of the penis is positioned in the upper compartment such that urine flows from the penis into the lower compartment of the housing.

An elastomeric tube open at both ends is adapted to slide within the frame ring portion with an end portion of the elastomeric tube stretched and pulled outwardly around the frame ring portion whereby the ring portion is retained within the folded portion of the elastomeric tube. The other end portion of the elastomeric tube is fixed to the attachment means of the frame. A replaceable semen collection bag is also provided in the form of an elongated generally cylindrical thin, flexible plastic member having a closed end and an open end.

Abstract: The external male urinary catheter assembly has a flexible moisture barrier sheet with a penis passage. The penis passage has a plurality of flaps, separated by radial slots. These slots are extended outward to adjust passage diameter. A liquid absorbent material pad has an absorbent material pad passage that is coaxial with the penis passage. A cup member has an inlet end flange that is held in alignment with the penis passage by a harness plate and harness. The absorbent material pad is compressed between the cup member flange and the moisture barrier sheet. The absorbent material pad absorbs liquid that is adjacent to the penis passage as well as liquid that passes between the cup flange and the moisture barrier.

The central opening is defined by first and second inwardly inclined walls extending from a first end of the body member toward a second end of the body member. The support section further includes a forward support surface adjacent the first end of the body member. The forward support surface has a forward end adjacent the base member and a rearward end adjacent the first and second inwardly inclined walls, wherein the forward support surface is generally horizontal and tapers downwardly as it extends toward the base section.

These pad sections are sealed together along one of the longitudinally opposite ends extending transversely of the bag and along adjacent side edge portions extending longitudinally of the bag and being contiguous to the one end. The pad sections are left unsealed along the other longitudinal end and along the remaining zones of the respective side edges extending adjacent the sealed side edge portions to define foldable regions. A guide structure for insertion of a wearer's penis is formed in one of the foldable regions.

The devices comprise a container that has an opening that fits on a glans of a penis, preferably only the distal portion of the glans, wherein said opening has an adhesive that detachably adheres the device to the penis. Preferably, the rear face has adhesive tape thereon for fastening the rear face to the front face to secure the sanitary device to the penis.

A retention strap attached to the front wall of the bag serves to hold the drain tube in its coiled condition against the bag's front wall.

The pouch is a sheet of material that is folded unto itself to form a tube. The tube has an interior surface, an exterior surface with an anterior portion, and is vertically-oriented and open ended for receiving and holding the penis in an up position and a down position depending upon user preference. The interior surface of the tube is lined with an absorbent material, while the anterior portion of the exterior surface of the tube has hooks of hook and loop fasteners thereon that cooperate with the posterior surface of the anterior portion of the crotch band which is not only of a material that is absorbent but is also of one that is cooperative with hooks of hook and loop fasteners.

A disposable, flexible and water tight pocket is removably retained in the cage and is also provided with a top opening that is secured for conforming to the top opening of the cage for protrusion of the penis into this top opening of the pocket.

In addition to the soft, flexible and ergonomic nature of the device, a slit or cut is provided through a portion of the device to facilitate the extraction of the male genitalia for urination purposes in an ordinary manner in conjunction with a fly opening of a traditional male undergarment.

The valve further contains a closing mechanism that automatically positions the flow restrictor to the closed configuration when a pressure in a fluid within the lumen is below a low threshold pressure, and an opening mechanism that automatically positions the first flow restrictor to the open configuration when the pressure in the fluid within the lumen is above a high threshold pressure that is higher than the low threshold pressure. The flow restrictor is preferably positioned outside the tube, although it may be positioned inside the wall of the tube, or even within the lumen of the tube. There may also be a second, downstream flow restrictor. The opening and closing mechanisms advantageously comprise a magnet or solenoid. The tube may comprise a catheter, and especially a urinary catheter.

The pouch is worn over the sex organs of a man under the underwear pant, which is adapted by an elastic waistband for compressively pinning the pouch in place. A top edge of the pouch provides access to an interior of the pouch of a hand and wrist of the wearer so as to facilitate insertion of the wearer's sex organs into the pouch through an aperture, which encircles penis and scrotum. The aperture elastically compresses between a top surface at the base of the penis of the wearer and a bottom surface at the base of the scrotum of the wearer. With the pouch in place, the wearer is able to facilitate the capture of body fluids without fear of the pouch moving away from its preferred position relative to the torso of the wearer.

Abstract: A catheter movement control device is presented having therein a resilient biasing member and a tube gripper which mount on a catheter tube. The biasing member and tube gripper are contained within a housing having a shoulder proximate the catheter tube. As the catheter tube is free to move in a forward direction through the housing, upon attempted rearward movement the biasing member engages the tube gripper causing it to pivot against a shoulder within the housing. Upon pivoting the tube gripper tightly engages the catheter tube preventing any further rearward movement of the catheter tube.

Abstract: A catheter movement control device is provided which allows forward, extending movement of the catheter tube contained within a flexible package to the exterior thereof as required during insertion. The method of use includes moving the catheter tube through the control device to exit the catheter package where it is inserted into the urethra.
