With Ball Or Roller Patents (Class 70/386)
  • Patent number: 5548982
Abstract: An improved locking bolt for a T-handle assembly is provided. The locking bolt has an associated security collar which encircles the bolt and prevents axial movement of the T-handle housing relative to the bolt when the threaded end of the bolt is threaded into the door frame of the closure. The security collar is held in place by a pin which extends through corresponding apertures in the collar and the bolt. A ball bearing is positioned in a recess formed in the bolt to prevent axial movement of the collar on the bolt in the event that the pin is defeated. The bolt and the security collar also act as a secondary locking mechanism by preventing rotation of the bolt when the lock is released, a special wrench being required to rotate the bolt after the lock is removed.

  • Patent number: 5544509
Abstract: A cylinder lock-key-combination, which comprises a lock body (5) having a lock cylinder (6) which is arranged to control a bolt element (4) connected thereto and which encloses a set of locking discs (7) provided with peripheral notches (13) and being symmetrical so that the cutting range of the peripheral notches (13) determining the opening combination of the lock is located on both sides of their axis of symmetry (A). A locking bar (9;10) which in its locked position is located partly in a groove (12) made in the inner surface of the lock body (5) and partly in a slot (17) in the lock cylinder (6) prevents turning of the lock cylinder (6) with regard to the lock body (5). The locking discs (7) can be turned by means of a key of the lock into a position in which the peripheral notches (13) thereof are located at the position of the locking bar (9;10) forming a uniform channel into which the locking bar (9;10) enters thereby releasing the lock cylinder (6) to turn with regard to the lock body (5).

  • Patent number: 5542273
Abstract: A barrel lock includes a cylindrical plug with a locking ball actuated by a positive acting threaded pin that is screwed into the plug. The plug slips into a mating cylindrical retainer and is locked in place by the pin forcing the ball to protrude beyond tile exterior of the cylindrical plug. An anti-rotation coupling that includes a key attaches to the plug which makes the barrel lock especially easy to install and operate. A threaded puller assures separation of the plug and retainer even when the barrel lock may be jammed due to earlier tampering. The simplicity of the invention provides for a rugged construction with positive sealing surfaces that protect against contaminants and corrosion.

Abstract: A locking assembly used to deny access to a nut or to a bolt head to prevent theft of an article that is bolted to a body such as a vehicle. The locking assembly includes a retainer through which the bolt passes and that partially surrounds the nut or bolt head that secures the retainer to the body. The retainer includes a groove that extends circumferentially around it. The locking assembly also includes a housing that fits over the retainer and that is selectively engaged to the retainer by a ball bearing that is pushed into the groove on the retainer when a key turns the shaft of a lock which turns a cam that pushes the ball bearing into the groove. The locking assembly has an exceptionally low profile, made possible by positioning the lock perpendicular to the axis of the bolt. Further strength is imparted to the locking assembly by the fact that the retainer is almost as deep in the axial direction as the housing, and the strength of the retainer reinforces the housing.

  • Patent number: 4909053
Abstract: A High Security Door Locking Device comprises a locking cylinder including a latch control cam rotatably operable by a properly formed key received within the cylinder. An electrical solenoid is inserted into the rear of the cylinder with a retractable core which interferes with the operation of the latch control cam when the solenoid is unoperated. A solenoid controller is connected to operate the solenoid in response to entry of a defined code into the solenoid controller to thereby permit operation of the latch control cam. The solenoid controller operates the solenoid only for a selected period of time in response to the entry of a defined code such that a valid code must once again be entered into the controller if the cylinder is not operated during the enabled time period.

Abstract: A steering shaft assembly being composed of an upper part and a lower part. The lower part is cylindrical in shape and is rotatably received by a cylindrical outer housing with the upper part fixedly secured thereabove on the outer housing. The lower part is integral with a steering shaft. An engaging block assembly is freely rotatable and is longitudinally slidable within the steering shaft assembly between an upper limit position and a lower limit position. The engaging block assembly comprises an engaging block and an actuating block. A number of balls are disposed between the steering shaft assembly and the engaging block assembly as well as between the engaging block and the actuating block for transmitting rotational movement. A steering wheel is fixedly mounted on the engaging block assembly by a lock assembly which further controls releasing and engaging between the engaging block assembly and the steering shaft assembly.

  • Patent number: 4807454
Abstract: Locking means for preventing displacement of a displaceable member relative to a stationary member by means of an armature operatively associated with an electromagnet, the armature having a bipartite structure: a locking pin member engageable with the displaceable member and a sleeve member coaxially surrounding the locking pin member located on an end of an armature extending from the electromagnet. A plurality of radially mobile balls interact within bores in a portion of the stationary member extending between the locking pin member and the sleeve member to engage grooves in the locking pin member to lock or secure same in a position in which the locking pin member is engaged with the displaceable member. Selective energization of the electromagnet selectively positions the sleeve member and a groove located within an interior wall of the sleeve member to selectively limit radial movement of the balls. In a deenergized state, the electromagnet permits axial displacement of the locking pin member.
