Directly Acting Dog For Exterior, Manual, Bolt Manipulator Patents (Class 70/467)
  • Patent number: 5666830
Abstract: A security lock having a main locking bolt connected to a U-shaped tail member slidably mounted in a housing secured to the door. The U-shaped tail member has an upper branch engaged by a turnable driving arm for movement between a retracted unlocked position for the main bolt and an extended locked position therefor. A spring biasses the driving arm to move the U-shaped tail member to the extended locked position. A key cylinder and an interior handle are connected to the driving arm to turn the arm and unlock the bolt. A spring-loaded latch is biassed to engage the lower branch of the U-shaped tail member in the retracted unlocked position. In the closed position of the door, the latch releases the U-shaped tail member which, under the action of the spring, drives the main bolt to its locked position. The latch can be operated when the door is open to release the U-shaped tail member so the main bolt extends from the lock.

  • Patent number: 5511401
Abstract: A combination lock/deadbolt assembly connection technique is disclosed for connecting the bolt of the combination lock to the deadbolt of the deadbolt assembly to provide a lost motion connection while at the same time to retain the ability to position a magnetic anti-attack interlock within the bolt of the combination lock. A connecting shaft is disposed between the bolt and the deadbolt and a spring bias force introduced between the two bolts. The shaft may be attached rigidly at one end to either the lock bolt or deadbolt. The opposite end is loosely attached by retaining rings or retaining rings to accommodate the movement of the loosely attached bolt with respect to the shaft thereby providing a lost motion connection. A compression spring is disposed intermediate to the lock bolt and the deadbolt to provide a separating or extending force.

  • Patent number: 5257519
Abstract: A dead bolt assembly for use with a combination dial lock assembly includes a housing structure adapted to receive a combination dial lock assembly. The housing structure includes a bolt hold back assembly which prevents extension of a dead bolt into a door strike. The bolt hold back assembly is operable from the inside of the door preventing manipulation of the combination dial on the outside of the door. Arranging the bolt hold back assembly in the housing permits ease of replacement and/or repair of standard or off the shelf type combination locks with the dead bolt assembly. The dead bolt assembly also includes a spring loaded pin arrangement which avoids a lockout situation. The housing structure includes a slot in the back plate which facilitates installation and/or removal of a combination dial lock assembly by permitting the lock shaft to slide into the housing structure without requiring removal of the combination dial or lock casing.

  • Patent number: 4852922
Abstract: A sort of tubular door lock whose inside knob or outside knob can be forced to rotate by each other's rotation and force a rotating unit to turn pushing and overpassing a projection of a knocking spring to get the knocking points at its both ends to knock on a bell for ringing. In addition, when said inside knob is locked up, the outside knob has no supporting force for making the latch rotated but can give an idle turning only.

  • Patent number: 4741190
Abstract: A lockset for a door comprising a latchbolt assembly including a bolt movable between a fully extended deadbolt locked position, and a retracted position. A spindle extends through the latch assembly in a direction transverse of the direction of movement of the bolt. Rotation of the spindle results in the bolt moving between its positions. The lockset further includes an operating assembly comprising a hand operator having a lock therein, a first plate mounted for linear movement in a direction transverse of the axis of the spindle, an actuating member connected to the hand operator for moving the first plate, a second plate having linear movement transverse to the axis of the spindle and adapted to be moved by the first plate, and rotatable drive member attached to the spindle and adapted to be rotated by the second plate. The second plate is movable between bolt retracted, and fully extended positions.

  • Patent number: 4736970
Abstract: A latch bar is connected to the plunger of a solenoid and is movable endwise to release an exterior knob spindle to enable the spindle to actuate a latch bolt retractor. A latch carried by the latch bar is held by the retractor to maintain the latch bar open until the retractor is later actuated by the spindle, thereby enabling a single electric pulse to effect release of the lock bar.

  • Patent number: 4590777
Abstract: A key operated doorlock, which may incorporate a deadbolt, has a bolt housing that is mounted on the exterior of the door and is held there by being fastened to a spacer disposed within the door and a mounting plate at the interior side of the door. The main bolt is locked in place with a secondary locking apparatus which may include a barrel lock which operates a bolt which cooperates with a keeper opening in still another bolt. The latter engages a keeper opening that forms part of the housing. A lever system is provided which permits operation of the third bolt when permitted by the state of the second mentioned bolt.

  • Patent number: 4572556
Abstract: An improved mortise lock includes a case, a latch bolt including a tailpiece, and a retraction lever for retracting the latch bolt. The retraction lever includes a nose portion in engagement with the tailpiece to define a tailpiece contact point, a pivot portion pivotally mounted on a pivot in the case, and a mid-portion intermediate the nose and pivot portions. The mid-portion includes spaced apart side walls defining a yoke. Inside and outside operating hubs are mounted in the case for independent rotation and are aligned in coaxial relation. Each operating hub is rotatable in at least one direction toward a rotated position and is formed to include a hub camming surface. The mortise lock further includes a cam follower for riding on the hub camming surfaces during rotation of the hubs to cause the retraction lever to pivot and retract the latch bolt in response to rotation of either the inside or outside operating hub.

  • Patent number: 4427223
Abstract: The device comprises a latching assembly enclosed within, and translatable relative to, a centercase housing; the housing is mounted on a chassis. The device is adapted for cooperative engagement with a locking cylinder, for actuating the latching assembly, and for operation of a thumbpiece lift, by an ancillary, external, trim linkage, for translating the latching assembly. The latching device has a master, locking cylinder cam or dowel, the latter having a removable screw, which (through a locking cylinder) either operates a night-latch cam plate, to translate the latching assembly or, upon removal of the screw, allows the cam or dowel to translate a tumbler which, in turn, frees a thumbpiece lift, for operation (then) of the latching assembly by the lift, instead of by the cam plate. Accordingly, with the drive screw in place, the external, operating trim linkage can not operate the device; it must be unlatched, externally, by a key in the locking cylinder.

  • Patent number: 4287737
Abstract: A lock mechanism operated by a slidable non-rotating perforated plate key having perforations disposed at random points thereon. The lock mechanism employs a slidable lock bolt controlled by a rotatable handle. A transversely slidable control rod is engageable within a groove formed in the lock bolt for holding the latter locked in its latched position. The control rod slidably extends through an opening formed in a transversely movable operating rod, the latter being spring-urged into a position of engagement with the control rod to normally maintain the control rod in its position of engagement within the groove. The plate key slidably coacts with the operating rod to displace same whereby it releases the control rod, whereupon the control rod is spring-urged downwardly through the opening in the operating rod so as to withdraw the control rod from the groove, thereby unlocking the lock bolt.
