Abstract: A user interface includes menu items arranged in a flower-like configuration. A number of menu items are peripherally arranged around a central item and mapped to selectable elements of an input device. Then, a display image including the menu is transmitted to a display. Subsequently, in response to a received selection, a corresponding action may be performed such as execution of a task, modification of the display image, and so on. In certain implementations, the menu items may be selected utilizing a cursor. The menu items may include a smaller portion located closer to the central item and a larger portion located further away. In still other implementations, the menu may also include a number of menu items that are not peripherally arranged around the central item. In response to a received selection, the menu items which are peripherally arranged around the central item may be altered.

Abstract: A reproduction device including a reproduction unit configured to reproduce content data including at least one of audio, video, and text for which attribute data is assigned for each of a different plurality of attributes; a display unit; and a control unit configured to make the display unit display a playback screen containing at least one attribute data among the plurality of attribute data assigned to the content data when reproducing the content data and, when one attribute data among the attribute data composing the playback screen is selected, switch the display content of the content from the playback screen to the list relating to the selected attribute data.

Abstract: Computerized systems and methods are provided for automatically providing order and details suggestions to healthcare users. Healthcare users such as physicians often place the same small number of orders with the same details over and over again. A usage pattern warehouse may be employed to track and determine the user's order patterns. The usage pattern warehouse may assign a weighted score to the agent orders based upon volume and recency. User text input is matched to agent orders within the historical order information and a listing of most likely agent orders is provided to the user.

Abstract: An electronic device can play back media items using a random playback mode. To ensure that related media items are played back in a proper order (e.g., live music is played back in concert order), the electronic device can define metadata or other data coupling related media items in a predefined or preset sequence. For example, related media items can include metadata tags identifying the previous and next media items to play back in the sequence. As another example, the electronic device can store a listing of media items of a sequence and the order in which to play them back. When the electronic device reaches a media item that is part of a preset sequence during random playback, the electronic device can identify at least the subsequent media items in the sequence, and insert the subsequent media items in the playback queue. The electronic device can then play back the entire sequence before moving to the next media item in the playback queue.

Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for a user interface that provides active assistance to discover, investigate, refine and save multiple topics of interest, i.e., a topic incubator where user interests are discovered, quickly developed to maturity and preserved. Each topic may have an independent topic interface with independently suggested topics. In each topic interface, users may control topic development by selecting saved topics, dynamically suggested topics and manually entered topics. Suggested topics may be based on saved interests, related interests and/or browsed content. Suggested topics may differ between topic interfaces and may change with topics. Suggested topics may be continuously refined or updated based on existing topics, changed topics, selected suggested topics and selected content. Users control treatment of selected topics individually or as refinements of (combinations with) other topics to create compound topics.

Abstract: Electronic device with the user interface in which selectable items are shown on the display and can be selected by a user via an input component. A processor unit in the device organizes the selectable items in groups with a predetermined static sequence. The processor unit also maintains dynamic subgroups of preferred items. When the items in a group are being displayed in an available display area, the processor unit shows the subgroup of preferred items before the group of standard items. The first item in the group of standard items is highlighted and the user can either scroll towards the items in the subgroup of preferred items or to the standard items in the group.

Abstract: A method for providing a mechanism by which relevant content can be determined and/or presented may include receiving an indication of a touch event at a touch screen display, determining context information associated with a device employing the touch screen display, determining relevancy information for a plurality of content items based on the context information, and causing provision of a set of relevant content items according to a selected presentation paradigm based on the relevancy information. A corresponding apparatus and computer program product are also provided.

Abstract: A method creates cover pages for news themes, topics, and stories, with elements to allow viewing more information from the theme, topic, or story. A database of stories is provided, comprising text, images, and possibly other web-accessible content. For a theme-based cover page, a theme is selected, and topics relevant to that theme are chosen. Search strings generated from the topics are used to search the database for matching stories. Representative images for the matching stories are then chosen from the database, and headlines are created based on the story content. For a topic-based cover page, a topic is selected and is used to search the database for matching stories. The cover page, comprising the image and information about the theme, topic, or story, is then created and displayed, with clickable elements to view more information about the theme, topic, or story.

Abstract: The present invention generates a color template design to format a presentation. According to one aspect, a plurality of template designs are provided on a visual display. A selection of one of the plurality of template designs is received from a user. A plurality of source images that are separate from the plurality of template designs are provided on the visual display. A selection of a color from one of the plurality of source images is received from the user. Colors of the selected template design are automatically adjusted to contrast with the selected the color from the source image. The selected template design may include framing, mat, background, and foreground portions, at least one of which is adjusted. After automatically adjusting the colors, the selected template design may be displayed and/or stored for use as a template.

Abstract: A method of controlling a mobile terminal and includes displaying on a display of the mobile terminal a list having a plurality of items, identifying a selected item of the plurality items of the list, and detecting movement of the mobile terminal. The method further includes displaying on the display a menu having a plurality of items that are each associated with a function which can be performed based upon information associated with the selected item, wherein the displaying of the menu is in response to the detecting of the movement of the mobile terminal.

Abstract: A system level search user interface that includes both a data entry portion and a search identification portion is displayed. Data input by a user as a search term is displayed in the data entry portion, and identifiers of each of one or more scopes on the computing device that can be searched using the search term are displayed in the search identification portion. Search results based on a selected scope are displayed in a search results portion of the system level search user interface. A set of keyboard shortcuts allow users to quickly search using any of the scopes, and see previews of a number of results that each of the scopes return. Additionally, the system level search user interface allow users to easily focus on different search result entries, and efficiently change scopes for searching.

Abstract: Context menus are described. In one or more implementations, an option is displayed in a user interface by a computing device, the option selectable to cause a representation of an object to be added to a context menu. In response to selection of the option, the context menu is configured by the computing device to include the representation of the object such that the representation of the object is selectable to launch the object by the computing device.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for providing a user interface. The disclosed systems and methods may include receiving a request to initiate an application program configured to generate a data file. The property panel may be configured to receive meta-data to be associated with the data file generated by the application program. Also, the property panel may be configured to provide the only place to receive the meta-data by the application program. Abstract: Methods of and devices for inserting a pictorial artifact into a text document are described. A relational database is used to link possible text-entries with pictorial artifacts. A pictorial artifact has a meaning that corresponds to its linked possible text-entry. When text is entered, the database is searched to determine whether a match exists between the entered text and one of the possible text-entries in the database. If a match is found, the linked pictorial artifact is provided to the user for selection and entry into the text document. The pictorial artifacts may be modified, and modified artifacts may be used in a search of the database to locate linked text-entries, in order to permit the user to select alternate text.

Abstract: An input apparatus and method using optical masking which enable a user to intuitively manipulate a menu by mapping light sources of an optical masking sensing unit and icons displayed on a display panel to corresponding positions. A multiple menu comprises a menu panel with two or more selection regions, each of which is associated with a base menu. A user requests the menu panel without selecting a menu object displayed on a display unit, such as by right-clicking. The menu panel is displayed along with one base menu, and other base menus are displayed by the user moving the cursor to another selection region. The user selects a menu item from a base menu to cause the application to execute the function associated with the menu item. The selection regions of the menu panel do not include information describing the content of the associated base menus. By arranging the base menus around the menu panel, cursor movement is minimized to improve user efficiency in using the application.

Each subsequent selection will modify the attribute further, allowing the user to identity that the object was selected a number of times. In one embodiment, the attribute will continue to be modified until a specific expiration limit has been reached.

Abstract: A smart search menu is displayed on a video display unit, wherein the menu includes an accumulated search criteria list and a results list. A user's selection is input from the menu as a selected element, and, if the user has selected an element of the search criteria, then the information is output to the video display unit. By accumulating the search criteria as a list of search criteria, the user is less likely to be “lost” within the search menus, and may therefore more quickly find desired content within a content database.
