Abstract: A system for maintaining medical devices includes: a computing device including memory and a processor that, when executing instructions stored on the memory, creates a user interface including: a health module providing a summary of a maintenance status of the medical devices; a location module providing a summary of a location of the medical devices; and a maintenance alert module providing a list of the medical devices needing maintenance, the list including a type of maintenance needed for each of the medical devices in the list.

Abstract: Techniques for providing contextually-relevant content include monitoring interaction with content objects accessed through a portal by a user, at least a portion of the content objects presented to the user in a list through a graphical user interface (GUI); determining that the interaction with a particular content object of the content objects by the user exceeds a threshold interaction criteria; and updating the list of content objects presented to the user through the GUI with the particular content object based, at least in part, on the interaction with the particular content object exceeding the threshold interaction criteria.

Abstract: Methods and systems that facilitate rapid response to critical changes in a patient's condition. The disclosed techniques and structures may facilitate rapid input of data (e.g., observed conditions) by a nurse or other clinician, and may provide clinical decision support information based on the input data. In some cases, a user interface that dynamically updates a list of possible causes (e.g., medical conditions) in response to each received input may be provided. In some cases, a user interface presents input selection controls in a check list-type format, and allows a nurse to answer all, or only a subset, of the input selections, in any order.

Abstract: A user interface (UI) system calculates movements in a multi-layer graphical user interface. The UI system receives user input corresponding to gestures on a touchscreen. The UI system calculates a movement of a first layer in a first direction (e.g., a horizontal direction) at a first movement rate. The UI system calculates a movement of a second layer substantially parallel to the movement of the first layer, at a second movement rate that differs from the first movement rate. The UI system calculates a movement (e.g., a vertical movement) in a direction substantially orthogonal to the first direction, in a UI element of one of the layers.

Abstract: An object tagging method includes causing, in a user interface displaying managed objects, a display of a plurality of user defined classification controls proximal to the objects. The classification controls are caused to be displayed such that user interface actions can visually link any plurality of the managed objects to any given one of the classification controls. A user interface action visually linking a selected one of the objects to a selected one of the classification controls is, and the selected one of the objects is tagged with data corresponding to the selected one of the classification controls.

The controller may also be configured to display the first page with a scrollable cursor thereon, and wirelessly download a second page based upon the scrollable cursor being positioned at a threshold number of selectable files in the first page.

Abstract: A method for generating multiple windows frames, an electronic device thereof, and a computer program product using the method are provided. In the present method, first, a touch trajectory generated by continuously touching a touch panel of the electronic device is detected, wherein the center of the touch panel is a display area, and a non-display area surrounds the display area. Then, whether the touch trajectory is started from one side of the non-display area and passed through the display area to be extended to another side of the non-display area is determined. If so, the display area is split according to the touch trajectory to display at least two windows frames. As a result, an intuitional and convenient method for generating multiple windows frames in the display area is provided, and the operation of the electronic device is made very convenient.

Abstract: A method generates electronic folders to efficiently classify and store icons and an electronic device therefor. The method includes allowing a user to select any one of a plurality of displayed icons, verifying that the selected icon is clicked for a set time or more, and generating the electronic folders for storing the selected icon.

Abstract: A hierarchical grid (H-Grid) is used to select a customer name after preliminary navigation has been performed. The preliminary navigation serves to identify an action, category or type of page to process or display data associated with the selected customer name. The H-Grid can be used in various ways as a replacement for, enhancement or addition to, key or query-based searching to retrieve a page or perform an action. In a particular example, the H-Grid includes customer names that have data available for display according to a form associated with a selected action or category. When the user clicks a customer name in the H-Grid a current form is populated with the customer's data. Subsequent navigation to other pages of data are populated with the currently selected customer name. This approach can replace the requirement of having the user to perform a search or query to identify the customer name or record.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a method and computer program product for the proactive completion of input fields for automated voice enablement of a Web page. In an embodiment of the invention, a method for proactively completing empty input fields for voice enabling a Web page can be provided. The method can include receiving speech input for an input field in a Web page and inserting a textual equivalent to the speech input into the input field in a Web page. The method further can include locating an empty input field remaining in the Web page and generating a speech grammar for the input field based upon permitted terms in a core attribute of the empty input field and prompting for speech input for the input field. Finally, the method can include posting the received speech input and the grammar to an automatic speech recognition (ASR) engine and inserting a textual equivalent to the speech input provided by the ASR engine into the empty input field.

Abstract: A method is provided for reducing a number of keys that a user is required to depress on a device having a keyboard with a limited number of keys when the user enters a password. The method comprising the following steps. A subset of characters used to define the password is determined. A filter to apply to the keyboard is determined in accordance with the determined subset of characters. The filter is applied when the user depresses the keys. Devices and computer readable medium for implementing the method are also provided.

Abstract: A method, apparatus, and article of manufacture provide the ability to define a floodplain encroachment. River reach and station information are received into a geographic information system (GIS). Floodplain encroachment values are defined using a graphical user interface (GUI). The GUI provides a simultaneous view of station identifiers for each station for which the floodplain encroachment is to be defined, profiles defined for each of the station identifiers, a method identification corresponding to each of the defined profiles, and a target water surface elevation change for each profile. The values are provided to a HEC-RAS engine which outputs analysis results that are simultaneously displayed in the GUI with the other information. The analysis results include a water surface elevation change, a top width, and a velocity for each profile-station pair. Users can modify the values and dynamically view the results from HEC-RAS in the GUI.

The parsed information is stored in a template including at least one named data element and at least one custom event describing the graphical interface using a markup language. Updated data element or custom event information is received from an application through an interaction interface. The template is updated with the received updated data element or custom event information. The template is rendered as the graphical interface wherein the graphical user interface presents one or more data elements from each application is rendered.

Selection is accepted for particular navigational area branches. The selected particular navigational area branches are prevented from collapsing upon exceeding a predetermined maximum number limit, by collapsing other navigational area branches to maintain the predetermined maximum number limit. The predetermined maximum number limit represents a limit of navigational area branches allowed to remain in an expanded state.

The backstack comprises a list of application that have been recently used or otherwise invoked by the computing environment or the user via the computing environment. In one embodiment, the computing environment comprises a graphical user interface (GUI) in which the user may engage in deliberate gestures to interact with applications, including the re-launching of killed or otherwise terminated applications. Upon a user command intending such relaunching, the computing environment may present to the user a temporary UI screen associated with the killed application and present a more fully functioning screen upon a commit signal to execute the killed application.

Abstract: Optical storage media often contain data structures for a menu suitable for selection of a title, a chapter, a parameter or others. Such menus usually comprise a number of buttons to be displayed, with each button having a state. Possible states of buttons are e.g. “unselected”, “selected” or “activated”. According to the invention, the menu may contain buttons that can be selected through the keys on the remote control, but that don't have any images or text associated. This allows creating “invisible buttons” that automatically execute commands upon selection. Further, a sound or sound sequence, e.g. melody or click, may be associated to a buttons state, and may be played back when the button enters this state. Such menu data may be stored e.g. on a Blu-ray disc.

Based on the dimensions the size of a thumbnail section is determined, the thumbnail section displays a plurality of thumbnail editions associated with each magazine edition. Based on the size of the thumbnail section and a number of magazine editions, a layout of the plurality of thumbnail editions on a display screen is determined.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus for providing a local coordinate frame user interface. A local coordinate frame user interface is described that may be used in conjunction with other tools provided by an application such as a graphical input and editing application. A user may draw or modify graphical objects using strokes applied with a brush or other tool, or perform other input and editing operations of the application, with one hand. While performing these various operations with one hand, the user may invoke and manipulate the local coordinate frame user interface with the other hand. Using this combined graphical input and editing method, a user may quickly adjust various attributes of selected tools and/or drawn objects, switch drawing tools or modes, and perform various other adjustments and actions via the local coordinate frame user interface with one hand while performing other actions with the other hand.

Abstract: A method of displaying and navigating information using a hierarchical, spring loaded DHTML menu system that adjusts to fit the boundaries of a resizable, container. A set of standard HTML table row elements, having a hierarchical dependency, is consistently displayed as a web-page, under reasonable resizing. This is done using a strut row that produces the largest width requirement when the table structure is resizing to occupy a small width. Only the current row elements and the strut element are required in calculating table resizing to ensure that whichever data elements are displayed when a web-page resizing occurs, the browser auto-layout algorithm calculations will result in a resize attributes that enables all other row elements of that menu to be accommodated by the newly determined table width. As the row elements may themselves be table structures, nested menus of information may be displayed and navigated.

Abstract: Slicers are configured to filter tabular data arranged in columns. A user may use the slicers to filter tabular data from a client application and/or a server based application/service. Slicers may be created for one or more columns and for all/portion of the tabular data within a column. Selection of a slicer element filters the associated tabular data and updates a display of the other slicers. Interaction with the slicers may also update other user interface controls that filter the tabular data (e.g. selecting a slicer element changes a value of a filtering setting in a drop down menu and/or selecting the filtering setting in the drop down menu changes a state of a slicer element). A slicer element may be associated with other objects in the spreadsheet and/or included within one or more functions of a spreadsheet.

A disc viewer is configured to read at least one user interactive program on a high definition optical disc defining an original menu of a user interface. The user interface defines a plurality of event handlers for user interaction with the user interface. An express menu renderer is configured to generate a menu populated with a plurality of selectable elements that are responsive to interaction with a mouse and/or pointing device. The selectable elements correspond to user interactive features of the user interface and have a corresponding visual identifier.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for providing a user interface. First, a first input may be received and a currently displayed programming content may be shrunken. Next, the shrunken programming content may be displayed. Then, in response to the received first input and concurrent with the shrunken programming content, a media guide comprising at least three display elements may be displayed. Each one of the three display elements may include a first content element, a second content element, a third content element, a fourth content element, or a fifth content element. The first content element may display available programming channels. The second content element may display programs available on the available programming channels. The third content element may display description information. The fourth content element may display actions that can be taken. The fifth content element may display an advertisement or information relative to one of the actions.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide systems and methods for providing and using user interfaces for search and select forms on mobile devices. According to one embodiment, providing a user interface of a search function for an application can comprise generating the user interface including a plurality of controls. Each control can be associated with a search criteria and can provide for a selection of one or more values for the associated search criteria. The user interface can be provided to a mobile device. An indication of a selection of one of the controls can then be received from the mobile device. The user interface can be updated based on the selected control being associated with either a single-select criteria or a multi-select criteria. One or more values for the search criteria associated with the selected control can then be received through the updated user interface.

Abstract: A portable media playing device incorporating a menu structure. The device includes a display mechanism, a navigation database, including a navigation record with a navigation description, and an action database, including an action record with an action description. The action database is customizable. A display driver displays the navigation description. When the navigation description is selected, the display driver displays the action description. When the action description is selected, a digital synchronization system generates an extra action request (EAR) record that includes an action identifier and action data for storage in an EAR database. When the device is synchronized with a computer, a synchronization manager accesses the EAR database and updates the action database with any new action records.

Abstract: This document describes techniques enabling an autobiographical interface. These techniques permit a user to build an interface that represents how the user wishes to be perceived, such as with icons, information, and media selected by the user to represent himself or herself. The techniques permit users to quickly and easily build and alter the autobiographical interface, including to adding new representations or removing out-of-date or undesired representations.

Abstract: An electronic device includes a controller circuit that is configured to display selectable indicia on a touch sensitive display device. The controller defines a default size and location of a plurality of selection zones on the display device that are each associated with different ones of the displayed selectable indicia. The controller responds to a touch signal from the display device that identifies a first touch location of a user object by increasing the size of a first one of the selection zones that includes the first touch location. The controller responds to the touch signal identifying that the user object has ceased touching the display device at a second touch location, which is within the enlarged first selection zone but outside the default sized first selection zone, by outputting a first one of the selectable indicia that is associated with the first selection zone.
