  • Patent number: 11338348
Abstract: Flanges formed on sheet metal parts to increase the part stiffness or create mating surface for further assembly are created in an incremental sheet forming process using forming tool and supporting tool that move along a specified tool path so as to gradually deform a peripherally-clamped sheet metal work piece into the desired geometry. With two universal tools moving along the designed toolpath on the both sides of the part, the process is very flexible. Process time is can also be reduced by utilizing an accumulative double-sided incremental hole-flanging strategy, in which the flange is formed in only one step.

  • Patent number: 8739591
Abstract: There are provided an electrode tip dressing apparatus and an electrode tip dressing tool for resistance welding, which are miniaturized by reducing a rotational driving-force of a dressing tool. By adjusting a curvature radius of a dressing portion 4 of a dressing tool 2, a contact width, wherein a top electrode tip 5 abuts to the dressing portion 4 of the dressing tool 2, is adjusted from a rotational center of the dressing tool 2 to the outer side of the dressing tool 2. Dressing work done with the dressing tool 2 is thus made to be constant at the whole area of the dressing portion 4, from the rotational center of the dressing tool 2 to the outer side of the dressing tool 2. Accordingly, excess dressing work, which brings decline of productivity, can be avoided, thus enabling to dress the top electrode tip 5 with the minimal dressing work. A rotational driving-power of the dressing tool 2 is thereby reduced, enabling to labor-save and miniaturize the electrode tip dressing apparatus.

To prevent excessive thinning of the pipe wall, the roller tools are offset from each other along their axes of rotation. The midpoint of facing circumferential surfaces on each roller tool serves as a measuring point for the relative offset.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a method for improving the formability of an aluminum alloy sheet by locally modifying the surface of the aluminum alloy sheet. The method comprises: a sheet fixing step of fixing a sheet to be locally surface-modified; and a local surface modification step comprising adhering a probe closely to a region of the fixed sheet, which is in need of surface modification, by the application of pressure, and then rotationally moving the probe on the region at high speed. According to the method, the region of the sheet in which a fracture can occur due to the concentration of strains and stresses during the formation of the aluminum alloy sheet into a product is subjected to local surface modification so as to improve the formability of the aluminum alloy sheet compared to the parent metal, so that the aluminum alloy sheet can be easily formed into a product.
