Abstract: A method for manufacturing a seamless pipe, capable of preventing the carburization phenomenon that occurs in a manufacturing process of pipe and simplifying an elongation rolling process, is provided. In this method, after piercing in the piercing rolling process, rolling is performed without using an inside regulating tool in the elongation rolling process, or without performing the elongation rolling followed by reducing rolling in a reducing rolling process, and thickening is then performed by use of a cold mill or cold draw bench in a cold rolling process. According to this method, the trap of graphite fine particles in the inner and outer surfaces of the pipe that took place in the conventional elongation rolling process can be minimized to prevent the carburization of the pipe. The method of the present invention is effective, particularly as a measure for preventing the carburization of an ultra-low carbon stainless steel or high alloy steel.

A helical thread is obtained by moving the wall of revolution (10) in relative manner along its axis (X.sub.2) relative to the knurling tool (11).

Abstract: The invention relates to a process for controlling a rolling mill having oblique rolls which is used for rolling metal rods or tubes, and to the rolling mill for carrying out the process. The rolling mill according to the invention comprises at least three rolls distributed round the rolling axis, each of the rolls having a profile generated by revolution of decreasing cross-section, the roll axes not intersecting the rolling axis, and each of the rolls exerting on the product a pressure which permits helicoidal rolling to be carried out. The process involves controlling the forward feed while keeping the angle of inclination of each of the axes of revolution of the rolls constant relative to a secant straight line, the so-called control axis, which is a straight line perpendicular to the rolling axis and intersecting said rolling axis and which traverses the zone of contact between the roll and the product to be rolled.

  • Patent number: 4388818
Abstract: An approximately shaped or formed gear is fabricated in any desired way and is then corrected by means of substantially ring-shaped rolls or rolling tools performing striking or hammering operations in the tooth gaps of such gear. The rolls rotate in a planetary fashion in revolving rolling or roller heads. Such rolling heads are advanced to a maximum radial penetration depth of the rolls which is governed by a stop and are then retracted, if necessary. The advance or feed is preferably performed by a hydraulic drive, the pressure of which is regulated electro-hydraulically by means of a template or the like. The hydraulic drive acts against the action of a spring. The approximately formed teeth, which are thus rolled in an overlapping manner, are produced by the addition of material per tooth flank. Preferably, such material addition amounts to at least twice or three-fold the summation pitch error according to DIN 3960 to 3962 (German Industrial Standard 3960 to 3962).

Abstract: A method for manufacturing a seamless pipe, capable of preventing the carburization phenomenon that occurs in a manufacturing process of pipe and simplifying an elongation rolling process, is provided. In this method, after piercing in the piercing rolling process, rolling is performed without using an inside regulating tool in the elongation rolling process, or without performing the elongation rolling followed by reducing rolling in a reducing rolling process, and thickening reducing the wall thickness is then performed by use of a cold mill or cold draw bench in a cold rolling process.
