And Longitudinal Movement Of Work Patents (Class 72/95)
  • Patent number: 4361022
Abstract: Straightening apparatus includes opposed straightening rollers through which generally cylindrical elongated workpieces pass generally longitudinally. Opposite flat guide members extend between the rollers and have opposed front guide edges between which a workpiece is guided as it travels through the rollers. The side edges of the guide members extending generally perpendicular to the direction of workpiece travel are individually releasably clamped by clamping devices for providing adjustment of the guide members toward and away from a workpiece to facilitate initial adjustment and to renew the front guide edges as they become worn. Each individual clamping device is also independently adjustable in a direction generally perpendicular to the first adjustment direction for imparting curvature to the guide members extending between curved straightening rollers.

  • Patent number: 4322961
Abstract: A machine for the rolling of cylindrical forms such as threads, worms, serrations, and annular forms, using two cylindrical dies whose axes are parallel or slightly skewed with respect to the axis of rotation of the workpiece, wherein the dies are supported on pivoting arms whose pivot points are cooperatively adjustable about a fixed horizontal centerline to provide for work diameter and die size changes. Workpiece size adjustment is achieved by a micrometer drawbar which can be either fixed for thru-feed work or hydraulically or mechanically actuated for infeed work. The dies are cooperatively driven by a central gearbox consisting of a hollow distributor gear flanked by two spindle drive gears, said drive gears being connected to the ends of the die spindles by universal joints.

  • Patent number: 4312207
Abstract: A rolling mill is characterized in that three hydraulic actuators, positid in a mill frame and comprising yokes with attached rolling tools therein, are provided with a piston rod having two pistons. The outer piston co-operates with an external cylinder which is mounted on a body of the actuator by means of a threaded joint. The inner piston co-operates with an internal cylinder attached slidably within said body.At one end, the piston rod is provided with a thrust flange being in contact with spacer washers mounted on the external cylinder, whereas the opposite end of said piston rod includes a stop positioned in a seat of a slider, said stop co-operating with a shoulder on said slider. The slider is mounted slidably on a bottom of the internal cylinder, the end portion of said slider having a pressure flange to press down a tool yoke to the bottom of the internal cylinder during rolling operation.

  • Patent number: 4307592
Abstract: A cold rolling method wherein the workpiece is advanced along its lengthwise axis and rotated in pulsating fashion, in accordance with a sinusoidal-like rotational speed-time diagram, while its surface is machined during briefly effective individual rolling or generating operations by means of generating rolls seated in roller or rolling heads. Each rolling operation is accomplished when the rotational speed of the workpiece is at the lower reversal region of the aforementioned diagram. The cold rolling machine comprises a worm gear for rotating the workpiece together with its clamping or chucking device, the worm gear being seated upon the chucking device. The related worm is mounted in a displaceable carriage. This carriage is moved to-and-fro by an eccentric drive or equivalent structure, and the action of the worm is superimposed upon the worm gear and there is formed the sinusoidal-like course of the rotational speed as a function of time.

  • Patent number: 4206622
Abstract: Output shafts of a pinion stand are connected with rolls of a working stand by means of spindles provided with a shaft whose ends are formed with Hooke's joints. The angles of obliquity of the shafts of the spindles are similar for all the joints of the spindles. The axes of the output shafts of the pinion stand are equidistant from the axis of rolling. The angular space relationship of the pinion stand with the working stand, i.e. the angle of inclination of the plane, passing through the axis of rotation of the output shafts and through geometrical axis of the pinion stand, to the plane passing through the axis of rolling and through the axis of a variable angle of rolling, is determined by a formula.

  • Patent number: 4161872
Abstract: There is disclosed a rolling mill comprising a pair of generally discus shaped rolling heads affording opposed rolling surfaces, the rolling surface of each head being provided by its surfaces inclined at a substantial angle to the axis of rotation of the rolling head, the rolling heads being mounted so that their axes of rotation are in parallel planes spaced apart from one another, the axes of rotation of the rolling heads being inclined to one another, and drive means arranged to be capable of rotating the rolling surfaces of the heads in opposite senses relative to each other and at different speeds.

  • Patent number: 3998083
Abstract: Straightening apparatus with means for rotating an elongate work element and advancing the same along its longitudinal axis. A bending station is provided in the apparatus which bends the rotating work element when such is advanced therethrough. The bending station includes infeed and outfeed parts mounted for relative universal movement on a central confining member. A tapered work element is confined within a sheathing device to produce an assembly of uniform diameter for processing by the apparatus.
