Interlocked Patents (Class 74/483R)
  • Patent number: 4821605
Abstract: A transmission shift control assembly has a rotary arm member to which a transmission shift control cable is attached. The rotary motion at the arm member translates to linear motion at the cable. A manual lever is pivotally mounted on the arm member for rotation therewith to permit operator selection of the desired transmission operating condition. The manual lever cooperates with a detent control member to position the shift control at the selected transmission operating condition. There is also disposed on the detent control mechanism an ignition interlock latching mechanism which is operable to prevent removal of the shift control mechanism from the "Park" position prior to unlocking of the ignition lock and to prevent locking of the ignition lock prior to the transmission control mechanism being placed in the "Park" position.

  • Patent number: 4739672
Abstract: A mechanical interlock is provided for a vacuum contactor assembly to insure that the second contactor cannot close after the first contactor closes. The interlock includes a support bracket, a cover plate and an interlock block which was first and second openings and is positioned between the support bracket and the cover plate. First and second ball bearings are positioned in the openings. The cover plate and interlock block are connected to the support bracket. First and second slide members each have an operating arm and a blocking arm with appropriate openings for cooperating with the ball bearings and interlock block openings. The operating arm of one slide is paired with the blocking arm of the other slide so when one operating arm moves the ball bearing it blocks the other slide from moving thereby preventing one of the vacuum contactors from operating.

  • Patent number: 4724722
Abstract: A gearshift lever and ignition lock mechanism has a flexible cable interlock connected therebetween. At the ignition lock end of the cable, a slide member is spring-loaded toward an unlock position. The gearshift end of the cable has a spring-loaded pawl disposed thereon. The spring load on the slide member is greater than the spring load on the pawl, such that the combination of these loads continuously urge the slide member toward the unlock position. The pawl is engaged by the gearshift lever when the gearshift lever is manipulated to the park position as controlled by a detent plate. A return spring on the shift lever moves the shift lever, pawl and slide member against the combined spring load in the flexible cable to a park position. In this position, the ignition key mechanism can be manipulated to the lock position for key removal; and a ramp on the slide member is contacted by a portion of the ignition lock to prevent the slide member from moving toward the unlock position.

  • Patent number: 4550628
Abstract: A transmission interlock system includes poppet interlocks and pins alternately disposed transversely through and between alignable pin bores in the shift rods. The interlocks define small and large diameter portions disposed for extension into the pin bores. • Patent number: 4549637
Abstract: A vehicle, such as a tractor, has a main change-speed gear with an associated clutch and a load shift gear coupled to a selector rod. The load shift gear can be shifted under load between a normal position and an under-speed position which produces increased tractive effort by reducing the speed by about 20%. This load shift gear can be operated by the same lever as operates the main change speed gear. In order to prevent simultaneous operation of the main gear and the load change gear, with corresponding interference with the synchronization of the main gear, an interlock device is provided. The interlock device includes a bellows which is connected into the hydraulic circuit for the clutch and, when the clutch pedal is depressed, the bellows holds a plunger in interlocking engagement with one of two grooves in the selector rod which is mechanically coupled to the load change gear. In other embodiments, a mechanical linkage between the clutch pedal and the interlock device is provided.

Abstract: The vehicle brake and transmission interlock system employs a right hand brake actuator and a left hand brake actuator tied to a cam plate having a formed opening, transmission control link has one end confined within the opening. Actuation of either the right or left hand brake actuator causes the cam plate to displace in a manner confining the travel distance of the transmission control rod which is tied into the transmission control system, thereby limited the output capabilities of the transmission. • Patent number: 4232571
Abstract: A manual shift control mechanism for a transmission has two drive transmitting cables which are connected to the steering column lock mechanism and the transmission control mechanism, respectively. The cables are interconnected by a pin which is connected through a leaf type spring to the manual shift lever. When the steering column lock mechanism is in the "Lock" mode, the cable attached thereto cannot move so that movement of the shift lever results in flexing of the spring and the pin and transmission cable does not move. Thus, when the steering column lock mechanism is in the "Lock" mode, the transmission control mechanism cannot be moved from the "Park" mode. When the steering column lock mechanism is in an operating mode other than "Lock", movement of the manual shift lever is transmitted to the transmission cable through the spring and pin to effect shifting of the transmission control.

Abstract: A rotating assembly (10) is associated with transmission and parking brake components (33,34) of a work vehicle or arbor and chuck components of a machine tool operation. The use of one component during operation of the other component can result in damage to the components. The rotating assembly (10) has a first member (12) and a second annular member (14). Rotation of each member (12,14) is associated with operation of a respective component, such as shifting the transmission (33) or applying or releasing the brake (34). Apparatus (38) maintains one of the first member (12) and second annular member (14) against rotation and frees the other of the members (14,12) for rotation at respective positions (40,42) of the apparatus (38) for selectivey interlocking the first member (12) relative to the second member (14). This prevents application of the brake (34) if the transmission (33) is not in neutral and prevents shifting of the transmission (33) from neutral before the brake ( 34) is released.

  • Patent number: 4033379
Abstract: A fluid-actuated interlock system for automatically controlling a plurality of remotely located valve assemblies. A fluid switch and a locking device are disposed for cooperation with each valve operator. The fluid switches are connected to a supply line for a pressure fluid, and the locking devices are connected to a manifold. Communication is permitted between the supply line and the manifold only when one of the fluid switches is moved into an open position. Each fluid switch is maintained in a closed position by its respective valve operator in a preselected position. When one valve operator is moved away from this preselected position, the associated fluid switch is opened whereby pressure fluid flows from the supply line into the manifold which in turn supplies pressure fluid to the locking devices associated with the remaining valve operators.

  • Patent number: 4031340
Abstract: An explosion-proof electrical enclosure has a body, switch mounted within the body, two threaded caps cooperatively engaging manually defeatable locking bolts in the body which prevent rotation of the caps and manually operated interlocking mechanism mounted in the body to actuate a switch and prevent unlocking of the bolts in the switch on position.

  • Patent number: 4020713
Abstract: A system is provided for controlling a motor and rudder of a power boat selectively from either of two remote stations, each of which includes means for producing linear input signals for motor shift and throttle control and for steering control. The system includes a steering input selector mechanism which is capable of transmitting the linear input signal for steering control from one of the stations to the rudder while isolating the signal from the other station. A motor input selector mechanism is capable of transmitting the linear input signals for motor shift and throttle control from one of the stations to the motor while isolating the signals from the other station. The steering and motor input selector mechanism may be actuated to facilitate the selection of one of the stations whenever corresponding linear input signals from the two stations are substantially equal.
