Geneva Or Multilated Gear Drive Patents (Class 74/820)
  • Patent number: 4217809
Abstract: In a system which sizes and lubricates lead bullets, an indexing plate, being chain driven, and having an indexing post, is mounted horizontally and in such a manner that the indexing post engages indexing detents in a transfer plate, having a plurality of bullet receiving holes. The transfer plate also mounted horizontally, and which has circular scallops whose radii and centers of curvature are coincident with the contacting surface of the indexing plate, providing an indexing to the transfer plate and a positive lock in between index positions; and a lubricating mechanism using a harmonic motion thus providing a lubricating piston with a long time in which to exert nearly maximum pressure on the lubricant and thereby optimizing the lubricating stroke; all being properly timed with the proper movement of the punch; so as to provide simultaneous and high speed sizing and lubricating of bullets.

  • Patent number: 4116109
Abstract: An ammunition loading machine in which a drive chassis intermittently indexes an annular dial to transport empty shell casings to a series of loading stations, and reciprocates ram means to actuate tooling and fixtures for performing successive loading operations on the shells. The dial, ram means, tooling and fixtures are mounted on a base plate assembly to form a die set which is detachable as a unit from the drive chassis, and is easily replaceable by a different die set when ammunition of changed specifications is to be loaded. The drive chassis includes ram drive rods and a dial indexing mechanism which are readily separable from the ram means and dial to facilitate replacement of the die set. The bearings for the dial comprise roller means which also serve to form a separable driving connection with the indexing mechanism to rotate the dial.

  • Patent number: 4103133
Abstract: A dual switch actuator mechanism for coordinated actuation of two high-current switches, each of which includes a switch operator mechanism for opening and closing the switch in response to rotation of a switch operator shaft. The switches are mounted adjacent to each other with their switch operator shafts in aligned paraxial spaced relation. The dual switch actuator mechanism includes a rotatable main shaft positioned between and in aligned paraxial relation to the switch operator shafts. A Geneva drive plate having an arcuate bearing surface is affixed to the main shaft; two drive pins are mounted on the drive plate. Two modified Geneva follower plates are provided, each affixed to one of the switch operator shafts. Each follower plate has a drive slot for receiving one of the drive pins and an arcuate bearing surface which is complementary to the drive plate bearing surface.

  • Patent number: 4095489
Abstract: A vertical support shaft supporting a tool support is slidably and rotatably supported in a base. A gear member is rotatably but non-slidably mounted on the support shaft and is provided with a threaded portion threadedly engaged with the base. A sleeve member having a rack engaging with the gear member is moved axially to lift the tool support to an upper position for an index operation. The sleeve member is provided with a notch to receive a resiliently urged lock shaft for restraining the axial movement of the sleeve member when the tool support is moved to the upper position.

  • Patent number: 4080849
Abstract: A precision heavy duty indexer characterized in that the indexing member thereof is positively locked to the indexer housing in desired precise axial, radial and angular indexed position by interengaged gear means of said indexing member and said housing, and is unlocked for indexing movement by disengaging said gear means, the gear means of said housing being carried by the outer peripheral portion of a laterally flexible pneumatic or hydraulically-actuated diaphragm having its inner peripheral portion fixed to the housing.

  • Patent number: 4037493
Abstract: An apparatus is disclosed herein for driving and selectively stopping a platform at predetermined work stations which includes a frame rotatably supporting the platform and a index wheel coupled to the platform in fixed relationship therewith. A drive wheel of lesser diameter is offset from the index wheel so as to overlap edge portions thereof and further includes a pin carried on its edge portion slidably engageable with one of a plurality of slots provided in the edge marginal region of the index wheel. The drive wheel is powered so that the pin enters and leaves each slot in a driving relationship whereby the index wheel and the platform are rotatably moved thereby. A spring biased dog operated by a cam mechanism selectively engages with the index wheel to register the platform at each of the respective work stations.

  • Patent number: 3979966
Abstract: Perforated information-bearing media in strip form, for example film in cinematographic devices, is driven either intermittently or continuously. The normally used Geneva stop (Maltese cross), which is connected via an output shaft to the sprocket engaging in the film perforations, can be disengaged from the continuously rotarily driven pin disc by axial displacement of either the Geneva stop of the pin disc effected by clutch means. For rewinding or unwinding the film at continuous high speed simultaneously with said clutch-disengagement between Geneva stop and pin disc, clutch members of a continuously driven, on the output shaft axially displaceable and free running clutch disc, engage in the slots or recesses in the Geneva stop at the position of the Geneva stop which corresponds to the frame standstill.
