Diverse-type Brakes Patents (Class 74/823)
  • Patent number: 8878466
Abstract: An electro-mechanical linear actuator unit comprising an actuator housing that accommodates at least two electric drives, each of which, when actuated by a control device, sets an associated drive of a respective spindle drive into rotation for adjusting linear movement of the associated spindle drive in order to produce relative linear adjustment of a control rod. The two electric drives are located in the actuator housing in such manner that relative adjustment can be produced by simultaneous actuation of the two electric drives, as the sum of the adjustment movements of the associated spindle drives, or by actuating a single electric drive, as the adjustment movement of the associated spindle drive. A respective brake is provided, in an area of each of the two electric drives, which can be selectively actuated by the control device to then prevent the adjustment movement of the respective associated spindle drive.

  • Patent number: 8692492
Abstract: A method for setting a lead-angle value of a motor drive control circuit is disclosed. The motor drive control circuit energizes and drives the windings of a motor with an energizing timing based on a stored lead-angle value. The method includes the steps of: rotating a rotor at a given rpm (step S102), energizing and driving the windings during the rotation at the given rpm with the lead-angle value being switched (step S110); calculating an average value of current amount that energizes and drives the windings (step S114); calculating a total value of consecutive multiple average values for each lead-angle value (step S120); finding a smallest total value among the total values, and setting a lead-angle value corresponding to the smallest total value as a stored lead-angle value (step S122).

  • Patent number: 6367342
Abstract: Indexing drives associated with a transmission each include a housing having a plurality of guideways, actuators slidably mounted in the guideways and a carrier with follower elements. The actuators include drive elements which can extend to the follower elements. The follower elements are movable across the drive elements and the drive elements are movable toward and away from the follower elements. The drive elements include convexities and the follower elements include concavities. The concavities are spaced from one another and the convexities are spaced from one another such that when one of the concavities is fully engaged with one of the convexities, two other of the concavities and two other of the convexities are sufficiently aligned to be partially engageable. The follower elements are severally arranged to provide cylindrical surfaces with concavities, circular surfaces with concavities and longitudinal surfaces with concavities.

  • Patent number: 5044055
Abstract: A clamping mechanism is provided to prevent movement of the rotatable stock carrier of a multiple spindle bar machine after it has rotated into position for the machining operation. The clamping mechanism comprises a controllable locking pin to engage indexing pin slots on the stock carrier, a passive pressure brake located opposite the locking pin, and a hydraulically actuated pressure brake in the same quadrant as the locking pin. The hydraulically actuated brake clamps the carrier against the passive brake, and in combination with the locking pin holds the carrier against movements caused by the forces of the machining tools. The hydraulic brake is released by a programmable controller to allow intended rotation of the carrier to a new position.

  • Patent number: 4753162
Abstract: A multi-color printing apparatus for automatically screen printing workpieces in diverse colors. The apparatus has a plurality of printing units spaced about a central support. A number of radially extending support arms cantilevered from the central support carry the workpiece at their free end for movement between printing units. After being indexed to its approximate final position at a particular station, a brake is engaged to prevent rotation of the support arm and a lock engages the support arm bring the arm into a registered position for the duration of the printing operation, after which the brake and locking bar are disengaged, allowing the support arm to rotate to another printing unit.
