  • Patent number: 6443039
Abstract: A wrench having two driving stems pivotally connected with each other. One of the driving stems has a main stem and a female joint protruding from a rectangular or cylindrical section of the main stem with a hole at a center thereof. The other driving stem has the other main stem and a male joint projecting out of the center of a rectangular or cylindrical section of the main stem. The male joint and the female joint are engaged with each other via a coupler such as a roll pin. • Patent number: 6412374
Abstract: Multisection wrench including a stem body and at least one jaw member or socket member connected with one end of the stem body for wrenching a screwed member. The stem body is composed of a predetermined number of identical connecting blocks which are longitudinally pivotally connected with each other. Each of opposite ends of two adjacent connecting blocks has at least one outward extending lug positioned side by side. A predetermined number of pivot pins are fitted in through holes of the side by side positioned lugs to pivotally connect the lugs, whereby the two adjacent connecting blocks are rotatable about the pivot pin to curve the stem body. The lateral sides of the side by side positioned lugs keep attaching to each other without departure. A predetermined number of resilient members are positioned between the contacting faces of the side by side positioned lugs to provide a resilient retaining force for the adjacent connecting blocks and achieve a locating effect.

  • Patent number: 6343532
Abstract: A cross-bar socket wrench with a rotatable gripping handle at one end and a socket-engaging tip at the other, and with pivotally mounted torque bars arranged in oppositely disposed relationship intermediate the ends. The torque bars are secured within the driving hub and adapted for rotation between an inwardly retracted stowage disposition and a radially extended drive disposition. In their radially extended working disposition, the torque bars are at an oblique angle of between about 94° and 98° relative to the axis of the shaft so as to effectively elongate the working disposition of the device and to assist in retention during high torque operation.

  • Patent number: 6260451
Abstract: A tool for removing and installing an oil plug of an internal combustion engine comprising a handle, a drive shaft and a tool head. The drive shaft comprises a flexible material suitable for providing improved access to hard to reach oil plugs. The flexibility of the drive shaft also provides a means for limiting torque transmission between the tool and the oil plug, thereby preventing accidental overtightening, and consequent damage to the oil plug. A multitude of tool head designs are also envisioned by the inventor. Each tool head is designed to frictionally engage and retain the oil plug within the tool head during the installation and removal process allowing for easy, single-handed use of the tool during the servicing and repair of an internal combustion engine.

  • Patent number: 6257103
Abstract: A wrench assembly includes two arms pivoted at the middle by a connection device. The connection device includes a bolt extending through two cross-bores in the two arms and a stem is biased received in a recess in the bolt. A button connected to the stem and has a rod extending perpendicularly therefrom. The first arm has a hole and the second arm has a concavity which is in alignment with the hole. A block and a spring are received in the concavity. The rod extends through the hole and compresses the block. When the block is located between the first arm and the second arm, the two arms are not pivoted with each other. When the block is pushed into the concavity by pushing the button, the two arms can be pivoted about the bolt.

  • Patent number: 6250187
Abstract: A screwdriver includes a handle in which a chamber and a recess are respectively defined in two ends of the handle. An annular flange with a passage extends radially inward from an inside of the handle. A block and a spring are received in the chamber, and an impact rod with a spring mounted thereto is received in the recess. A tube extends from the handle and a shank is movably received in the tube so that on end of the shank contacts the impact rod and the other end of the shank contacts a bit engaged with a distal end of the tube. The block is pushed to compress the spring when the bit is pushed onto an object. When the impact rod drop into the dent, the block hit the impact rod and the bit exerts a sudden and large force to the object.

  • Patent number: 6233769
Abstract: A hand tool such as a knife or a combination tool includes multiple blades, each independently rotatable on a common axle between a closed position within a handle of the tool and an open position extending from the handle. Each blade is positively but releasably locked into its open position. Those blades which remain closed are biased toward the closed position when the opened blade is locked into position and also as it is opened and closed. • Patent number: 6219870
Abstract: A lock release mechanism for a folding combination tool having a plurality of supplemental tools (e.g., a knife, screwdriver, can opener, etc.) mounted at the free end of a generally U-shaped handle for rotation from a storage position within the handle to an extended “in use” position outside the handle. The locking mechanism is characterized by a leaf spring formed at the free end of the handle that lockingly engages the mounting end or shank of one or more of the supplemental tools when such tool is rotated from the handle to its fully extended position for use. The lock release mechanism preferably includes a bulge, formed on a different supplemental tool, that extends outside the handle so that the bulge may be depressed into the handle by a user.

  • Patent number: 6216567
Abstract: A ratcheting tool includes a head including an end with an arcuate toothed face and a handle having an end defining a compartment for pivotal connection with the end of the head. The handle includes a longitudinal hole having an inner end and an outer end communicated with the compartment. The handle further includes a transverse hole communicated with the inner end of the longitudinal hole. A catch is mounted in the longitudinal hole and includes a first end with an arcuate toothed surface and a second end. A push button is mounted in the transverse hole and includes a stem, the stem including a relatively higher portion and a relatively lower portion. An elastic member biases the push button to a retaining position in which the second end of the catch engages with the relatively higher portion of the stem such that the arcuate toothed surface of the catch is biased to engage with the arcuate toothed face of the head, thereby retaining the head in an angular position relative to the handle.

  • Patent number: 6186033
Abstract: A wrench with interchangeable, pivotal, rotatable tool pieces on at least one end. A snap-on tool piece, preferably a wrench, fits into a pivotal end piece which is pivotably held to an extension arm by a toothed pin in toothed apertures. The extension arm is pivotably attached to a rotating shaft by toothed pins. There may be another pivotable snapon connection for a tool piece at the opposite end of the shaft. As an alternative, the tool piece fits into a pivotable end piece which is positioned at the end of a pivotably segmented shaft which fits inside the casing and handle of the tool. The location of the tool piece in relation to the handle may be easily set and secured. The multiplicity of possible tool pieces and positions makes this tool highly versatile and capable of reaching into hard-to-reach areas. Thus, bolts in car motors may be reached without having to partially dismantle the motor.
