  • Patent number: 11952857
Abstract: A locking pin tool to facilitate removal and/or installation of locking pins of a well head assembly includes an elongated shaft and a jaw assembly configured for engaging an end of a locking pin. A hammer body is mounted on the shaft and is movable along the shaft. A hammer stop provided on the shaft engages the hammer body to absorb a striking force from the hammer body as the hammer body is moved along the shaft towards the hammer stop. By moving the hammer body along the shaft, the hammer strikes the hammer stop to impart a force on the locking pin to facilitate removal or installation of the locking pin.

  • Patent number: 9901335
Abstract: An apparatus and method for affixing soft tissue to bone is provided. The apparatus comprises first and second arms including first and second jaws on distal ends. The second arm is mated to the first arm at a hinge located between the proximal ends of the first and second arms and distal ends of the first and second arms. To enter into an engaged position, the first and second arms pivot around the hinge such that the distal ends of the first and second arms close towards one another, and the proximal ends of the first and second arms move apart from one another. The engaged position causes the first jaw on the distal end of the first arm and the second jaw on the distal end of the second arm to compress and hold soft tissue.

A locking assembly can include a pivoting lever, a locking pin and a blocking member. The pivoting lever can be pivotally coupled to the second lever. The blocking member can be coupled to the first lever. The pivoting lever can be movable between an unlocked position, wherein the first and second jaw move relative to each other and a locked position, wherein the first and second jaws are fixed relative to each other. In the locked position, the locking pin can be wedged against a contact surface of the blocking member precluding relative motion of the blocking member and the pivoting lever.

Abstract: The invention relates to pliers for changing the distance of two activation surfaces of a connection or fitting for conduits. The change of the distance correlates with an elastic or plastic deformation of at least one component of the fitting including a radial crimping process. The inventive pliers comprise two hand levers linked by a transfer mechanism with two spreading jaws. According to the invention, a closing movement of the hand levers results in a spreading movement of the spreading jaws. Such spreading movement of the spreading jaws is used for plastically deforming at least one of the components of the connection by a radial crimping process.

Abstract: A hand tool comprising first and second jaw members and first and second handle members, the first handle and both jaw members being cooperatively connected by a force multiplying linkage system. A force applied to the first handle drives the linkage system to close the jaws to crimp or cut a work piece. In one embodiment of the invention, a link in the linkage system has a first end movable between first and second positions relative to its first end pivot pin wherein the first and second jaw members close a first distance when the link first end is in the first position and close a second distance when the link first end is in the second position. Other embodiments comprise other step-wise changes in distance between force-bearing pivot locations in the linkage system to close the jaws progressive distances with successive closures of the first and second handles.

Abstract: A restricting member with an engaging structure for a pair of locking pliers comprises a first pivoting portion, a second pivoting portion and the engaging structure. The engaging structure extends out of an upper part of the restricting member, so that it can be positioned in a groove of a side handle, and makes a supporting portion of a linking member press against the groove of the side handle. The restricting member not only saves space and cost for it needs no additional subassemblies, but also makes the assembling work more convenient.

  • Patent number: 7444907
Abstract: The present invention is directed to an improved hand tool for using one hand to grasp a workpiece between a first and a second jaw of the hand tool and adjust the force applied to the workpiece. The hand tool includes a first arm and a second arm, the second arm operably linked to the first arm so as to cause relative motion of the first and second jaws upon motion of the arms. The hand tool further includes a control arm having a first end pivotably linked to the first arm and a second end pivotably linked to the second arm at a moveable pivot location. Movement of a force adjustor located on the second arm in a first direction moves the moveable pivot location so as to increase the level of force required on the second arm to move the control arm into an overcenter lock position.

One of the arms has a protuberance with a lateral channel that extends via one of the orifices, a pusher being located in the channel and having an inner channel that accommodates a spring that acts between the pusher and the arm. The articulation pin is joined by means of screwing to the pusher in the region of the lateral channel, a toothed claw being arranged coaxially therebetween with mechanical continuity. The pusher is continued as an extension located on the walls of the other orifice in the work position. Applicable to hand tools.

  • Patent number: 7434498
Abstract: A toggle locking tool is provided with an adjustment screw assembly comprising a force-enhancing shank that enables the holding force of the tool to be multiplied manifold. The adjustment screw assembly comprises an adjustment screw conventionally adapted to be fed into and to engage a threaded bore in the outer end of the fixed handle of the tool; however said adjustment screw itself comprises an internal, fine-threaded bore that extends through the length of said screw, and that receives a threaded force-enhancing shank having a head portion adapted for turning manually or with a turning tool. An end portion of said shank extends beyond the adjustment screw to form the bearing surface which, in a conventional toggle locking tool, is provided by the tip of the adjustment screw. Rotation of the adjustment screw provides rapid, low-force locking adjustment of the tool, and subsequent torquing of the force-enhancing shank results in the application of a multiplied locking force to the jaws of the tool.

  • Patent number: 7389714
Abstract: A locking pliers tool with an improved dual action driver handle comprising two intersecting handles and interacting jaws. When the user grips the handle forward the resultant force produces a locking action. Conversely, when a rearward gripping force is initiated, the tool releases its grip on the object. A limited amount of energy on the inventive handle produces free movement of the handle and gripping mechanism to lock or release. The system operates with a handle and stationary jaw in conjunction with a second pivotally secured jaw and internal adjustment bolt. A second lever handle rests against the adjustment bolt. An over center toggle link connects the second lever handle to the pivotally secured second jaw. A tension spring interconnects the first handle and the pivotally secured second jaw.

A rack of teeth includes first and second sets of teeth offset from one another by ½ of the pitch that may each be engaged by the teeth formed on pawl. A lever is attached to the fixed assembly and a linkage transmits a force applied to the lever to the jaws and locks the jaws in the clamping position. The linkage allows the angle between the links to be preset to thereby control the clamping force applied to the work piece. The movable jaw is selectively attached to the linkage in one of two positions such that the jaw span may be adjusted without affecting the geometry of the linkage.
