  • Patent number: 11911878
Abstract: A ratchet wrench (1) has a flexible clutch ring (500) that forms the mid part of a laminate-like structure comprising a wrench head (200), the clutch ring (500) and a drive element (40). When under load, the compression forces applied to the clutch ring (500) are substantially dissipated around its circumference (508) and inner surface (509), this inward force clamping upon the inherently strong drive outer surface (45). The laminate-like construction enables a reduction in the width or depth of the wrench head without a loss in strength.

  • Patent number: 11806844
Abstract: A flexible head joint for a tool, such as a motorized ratcheting-type tool. The flexible joint also allows an output mechanism of the tool, such as a ratchet head, to be disposed at an angle with respect to a housing to the tool, which houses a motor. For example, the first shaft is pivotably coupled to a first connector, which may have a tongue shaped portion. The second shaft is pivotably coupled to a second connector, which may have a slotted portion adapted to receive the tongue portion. This provides two pivot points that have parallel axes.

  • Patent number: 7121169
Abstract: A ratchet useful for wrenches is provided having a pawl and a main gear that reside in a case, wherein the pawl is biased to engage teeth of the main gear to permit rotation in a selected direction. According to an aspect of the invention, a biasing mechanism is housed within the pawl and acts outwardly from the pawl against one or more ramped surfaces formed in the case, thereby biasing the pawl rotationally. For example, the biasing mechanism may be a coil spring housed within a bore extending through the pawl, aligned parallel to an axis of rotation of the pawl. The spring is compressed between two ball bearings, urging the ball bearings axially outwardly against the ramped surfaces. The ramped surfaces are shaped so that a component of the force of the ball bearings creates a rotational moment on the pawl.

  • Patent number: 7111527
Abstract: There is disclosed a selective one-way screwdriver and, more particularly, a selective one-way screwdriver that includes a long handle and can easily be operated. It includes an elongated handle formed with at least one head formed at an end. The head defines a space for receiving an annular gear formed with a toothed wheel portion on the external side. The annular gear includes a recess in an end in order to receive a bit. The head further defines a cavity near the handle and a channel between the cavity and the space. A switch is put in the cavity. In the channel are put two pawls one of which can selectively be engaged with the toothed wheel portion of the annular gear under the control of the switch. Thus, the handle can drive the annular gear in selective one of two directions. The length of the handle is perpendicular to the axis of the bit so that a user can easily use a small force in order to a large torque through the selective one-way screwdriver.

Abstract: A ratchet wrench including a hollow handle, a handle sleeve fitted on the handle, a transmission rod fitted in the handle, a driving head mounted in one end of the handle and a transmission mechanism. The transmission mechanism is arranged in the handle sleeve and coupled with the handle sleeve. The transmission mechanism is also drivingly connected with the transmission rod. When rotating the handle sleeve relative to the handle, the transmission rod is driven via the transmission mechanism. The transmission rod further drives the driving head to output torque for wrenching a work piece.

  • Patent number: 6786114
Abstract: A hand operated device and method for assisting a user in driving the device's shaft to impart driving force to a fastener more than conventionally accomplished in a fixed period of time. The device has a first member and a second member gripped with the user's first hand, while a handle of the shaft is held with the user's second hand. The user then turns the second member in a first direction, while still gripping the first member, so as to rotate the shaft. Next, the user releases grip on the second member while rotating the first member in a second direction, freely, without the first member ever rotationally engaging the shaft. Simultaneously, the user grips and rotates the handle in the first direction so as to continue to rotate the shaft. The user then repeats the aforementioned steps to drive the shaft as desired so that the first member never rotationally engages the shaft.
