  • Patent number: 7197964
Abstract: A wrench (1) is disclosed having a handle (3) mounted pivotally with a head portion (2) for engaging a drive socket to tighten or slacken a fastener such as a nut, bolt or screw, and a resilient split ring (5) as operative portion intermediate the handle (3) and head portion (2). The head portion (2) has an aperture into which the split ring (5) is sprung to define a radial gap in the split ring (5) and a camming arm (33, 34) extending radially outwardly from each end of the split ring (5) respectively. The split ring (5) also has stops (37, 38) engaging the head portion under the natural resilience in the split ring (5) to prevent undue rotation of the ring in the head portion.

  • Patent number: 7178429
Abstract: A ratcheting tool includes a handle and a head extending from the handle. The handle includes a compartment communicated with a hole of the head. A drive member is rotatably mounted in the hole of the head and includes teeth on an outer periphery thereof. A pawl is slidably mounted in the compartment of the handle. The pawl includes teeth on a side thereof for engaging with the teeth of the drive member. An anchor is mounted in the compartment of the head. An elastic element is attached between the pawl and the anchor for biasing the teeth of the pawl to engage with the teeth of the drive member. A protruded portion is integrally formed on a wall defining the compartment of the handle for positioning the anchor in place, thereby preventing the anchor from moving out of the compartment of the handle.

Abstract: A ratchet wrench includes a handle, a drive head, a ratchet wheel, a pawl member, a control knob, a positioning plate, and an urging spring. Thus, the ratchet wrench includes a positioning plate to push the pawl member, thereby reducing the volume of the ratchet wrench efficiently. In addition, the urging spring is supported and guided by the guide shaft of the positioning plate, so that the positioning plate is not easily deformed, thereby facilitating movement of the urging spring in the positioning plate.

Wedge guide grooves are formed on the inner circumferential surface of the ring portion. Each of the wedge guide grooves has a free region which maintains the corresponding wedge member in a free state, and left-hand and right-hand wedge regions each of which maintains the corresponding wedge member in a caught state. The wrench is provided with a changeover mechanism for moving the retainer to a position at which the wedge member faces the corresponding free region, a position at which the wedge member faces the corresponding left-hand wedge region, or a position at which the wedge member faces the corresponding right-hand wedge region.

  • Patent number: 6862955
Abstract: A wrench comprises an enclosed box portion comprising an opening having an upper groove, an internal crescent cavity adjacent a handle and being in communication with the opening, a positioning mechanism including a ring disposed in the opening and a spring urged against a wall of the cavity, a pawl in the cavity leaned against the wall of the cavity, a ring member having an annular recess, a flexible C-ring put on the recess, and a ratchet wheel in the opening and having an upper portion with the ring member fitted therearound so that the C-ring can be disposed in both the recess and the groove. Counterclockwise rotating the wrench will transfer exerted force to projections on an inner wall of the opening since the pawl is prevented from rotating about the ratchet wheel. Clockwise rotating the wrench will disable the projections for enabling an angle adjustment of exerted force.
