With Means To Support And/or Rotate Work Patents (Class 82/101)
  • Patent number: 4007942
Abstract: This disclosure relates to a device for the uptake of capsule parts. The device may include a female member having an internal cavity defined by a contact surface which engages the outer surface of the capsule, or a male member having an outer contact surface which engages the inner surface of the capsule. In each embodiment of the invention the device includes at least one channel opening into the contact surface thereof for supplying a source of underpressure or overpressure to the capsule. The underpressure creates a suction which facilitates the uptake and holding of the capsule, while the overpressure ejects the capsule from the device.

  • Patent number: 3994251
Abstract: The trimmed edges of cylindrical metal bodies are freed of internal burrs by shifting the body axially on the support means to move the burr-bearing edge from the cutting element to a cylindrical surface portion, following which an ironing tool flattens the burr against the surface so as to effect its fracture and removal from the body.

  • Patent number: 3985051
Abstract: A portable frame supports a mechanism for cutting pipes of various sizes. The pipe can also be grooved or bevelled at the same time. Initially a cutter cuts through a portion of a held, non-rotating pipe. Thereafter the pipe is rotated, or rolled, about its axic to permit the cutter to pass through the remaining portion of the cross section of the pipe to be cut. A single revolution of the pipe accomplishes the cutting thereof. Grooving or bevelling tools can be used simultaneously with the cutter to effect the grooving or bevelling of the pipe.

  • Patent number: 3967516
Abstract: In a method and apparatus for trimming flash from blow molded articles with a rotating blade as they traverse a path of travel between a fixed guide and a rotary drive wheel, improvements are provided which include a mounting for the blade eccentrically offset from the axis of the drive wheel which allows the articles to be firmly supported by the guide and drive wheel before cutting commences, thereby improving the quality of the cut from the standpoint of reducing variability in planarity and in vertical position with respect to adjacent portions of the usable part of the article.

  • Patent number: 3962938
Abstract: In trimming moils from plastic articles with a blade interposed in a path along which the articles are moving while engaged with fixed and moving guides, the improvement downstream of the blade is provided of a rotatably driven moil discharge wheel and an opposite cooperating anvil forming a moil discharge path between them. The process improvements involve engaging the moil after cutting by the blade with the surfaces of the wheel and anvil and conveying the engaged moil along a path away from that taken during cutting by means of the revolving wheel.

  • Patent number: 3949628
Abstract: In trimming moils from plastic articles with a blade interposed in a path along which the articles are moving while engaged with fixed and moving guides, the improvement is provided of a retractable blade assembly movable between operative and inoperative positions by fluid motor power to permit passing articles through the path either while being trimmed or not, depending on up or downstream conditions. Means may also be included for shifting one of the guides, preferably the stationary one, into and retracted from its operative position on one side of such path.

  • Patent number: 3943806
Abstract: A tire truing machine that has a continuously orbiting band saw moving across a tool guide that has a plurality of adjustable guide members that can be shaped to the profile of the tire to be trued or contoured to a preexisting cam profile with the cumulative guide members defining an arcuately shaped recess or guide which positions the cutting edge of a band saw adjacent to the tread of a pneumatic tire in a precise profile control. The tire is chucked and rotated as the band saw operates on the tread surface or portions thereof to the profile set or adjusted.

  • Patent number: 3933063
Abstract: A multiple shaft, turret roll-slitting machine having a slitting knife mounted for movement along a path parallel to the axis of a roll to be slit and for radial movement into the roll at selected axial locations. The machine has at least two shafts upon which rolls of material are to be mounted and those shafts are movable from a cutting station to a loading and unloading station and are mounted on a turret to achieve such movement. When a first shaft is in the cutting station, it is oriented relevant to the slitting knife such that it can be slit into narrow width tape or ribbons by the slitter. At the same time, a second shaft is located in the loading and unloading station such that a previously slit roll can be removed and a new roll can be loaded into the shaft while the roll on the first shaft is being cut. The turret is then indexed reversing the positions of the first and second shafts.
