  • Patent number: 7513183
Abstract: A metal panel shear cutter is designed for metal panels which include support ribs. The metal panel cutter utilizes an anvil type cutting blade positioned at each side of a cutting base. Each cutting blade is pivotally connected to a cutting base in the vertical plane. The cutting base also includes supports for the ribs of the panels to allow for a smooth and clean cut of the panel. The cutting blades and a small portion of the cutting base are pivotally connected to the cutting base in the horizontal plane so they may be pivoted to the desired cutting angle while the metal panel remains fixed with respect to the base. This pivotal portion of the base includes additional supports for the ribs of the panel. These supports are adjustable to accommodate the various angles at which the panels are to be cut.

  • Patent number: 4660451
Abstract: The invention relates to a scrap shearer comprising a displaceable frame (1) and a pair of blade units (2, 3) shearing in a scissor-like manner, whereby the blade units are fastened on the frame (1) so that at least one of the blade units (2, 3) is pivotable. The object of the invention is to provide a scrap shearer which is displaceable to such large scrap objects as e.g. ships and which is capable of advancing within the scrap object, by means of which shearer the requirements of different kinds of scrap objects can be taken into account in the best possible way. This is achieved according to the invention in such a manner that fastening means (7, 8, 11) of the pivotable blade unit (2) are adjustable for the adjustment of the shearing gap and/or angle between the blade units (2, 3).

  • Patent number: 4385538
Abstract: A shear for cutting bar stock includes upper and lower cutting blade supports each having a cutting blade, and a hold-down member, all pivotally connected about a working bearing. This assembly is pivotally mounted about a second bearing or pivot axis on one end of a frame of the shear, and is height-adjustable by a lockable hydraulic actuator attached to the upper cutting blade support at the opposite end of the shear, to provide vertical adjustability of the cutting point with minimal horizontal or angular displacement thereof. Preferably, the two pivot axes and the cutting point are coplanar. The upper cutting blade support is pivoted relative to the lower one by a hydraulic actuator engaging the upper support at one upper part thereof which is not so coplanar, to provide both a relatively long lever arm and a relatively long cutting arm for minimizing arcuation of the cutting movement. One cutting blade is adjustable within its support for optimum positioning taking into account the shape of the stock.
