  • Patent number: 8192528
Abstract: A method and apparatus for separating mercury and other undesired constituents from a natural gas stream includes passing the raw gas stream sequentially through a first separator, an amine treatment unit, a cooler, a second separator, a dehydrator, a cooler and a third separator. The first separator receives the natural gas stream and separates hydrocarbon and water condensates from the stream; the amine treatment unit removes acid gases; the cooler reduces the temperature of the gas stream to condense additional hydrocarbons and water that are removed by the second separator; and the dehydrator removes water vapor. Next, the temperature of the stream is reduced by the second cooler to condense the mercury and any remaining hydrocarbon vapors.

  • Patent number: 8182702
Abstract: A strainer is disclosed for filtering a flow stream passing therethrough, while reducing vortex shedding and related minimizing noise and vibration. The strainer includes an elongated member which defines a generally longitudinal axis, and having an opening at one end and a closed end at the opposite end. The opening has a greater dimension than the closed end. The elongated member includes a plurality of rows of apertures located between the opening and the closed end, with the apertures of each row being of generally equal dimension and located in a plane generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. The pluralities of rows of apertures are of distinct dimensions and form a semi-random pattern such that a flow stream passing therethrough causes distinct frequencies associated with each row, which frequencies generally reduce or cancel any pulsation resulting therefrom.

  • Patent number: 8182784
Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the recovery of sulphate of potash (SOP) from bittern. Kainite is obtained by fractional crystallization of the bittern. Kainite is converted into schoenite with simultaneous removal of NaCl and the filtrate (SEL) is used for production of KCl. Schoenite is reacted with aqueous KCl to yield SOP and the filtrate (KEL) is recycled in the kainite to schoenite conversion step. The production of KCl from SEL is carried out with the aid of dipicrylamine (DPA). Lime is treated with DPA in water for the production of highly soluble Ca (DPA)2, which in turn treated with SEL to produce insoluble K(DPA). K(DPA) is treated with HCl to produce KCl and insoluble DPA, which can be recycled for the production of Ca (DPA)2. The aqueous KCl thus obtained is treated with schoenite to prepare SOP. The KEL obtained along with SOP is recycled to generate schoenite.

  • Patent number: 8177103
Abstract: A container that dispenses a carbonated drink such as beer has a pressure regulator that controls the pressure of the dispensed fluid with a pressurized carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide is released to maintain the desired pressure by a pressure regulator that opens a valve when the pressure is too low in the dispensed fluid and closes a valve when the pressure is high enough in the dispensed fluid. The pressure regulator is easily adjusted without the use of a tool during operation by simply rotating the pressure regulator's cap on its threads.

  • Patent number: 8177512
Abstract: A hub-profile connection system for axial fan is disclosed, consisting of a hub to which one or more blades provided with an air displacement profile are connected, wherein one or more blades are attached in a flexible manner to the hub by means of two separate flexible elements, both fixed, reciprocally distinct, separate and overlapped one to the other in the fan axis direction on the hub side, to a fastening block and, on the blade side, to a corresponding fastening block. Compared with the known rigid, hinged and flexible constraint systems, the system of the present invention offers lower static and dynamic loads, as well as construction simplicity, with consequent cost saving and vibration abatement.
