Abstract: Apparatus (2) is provided, including a heartbeat measurement device (3), which senses a cardiac parameter of a patient and generates a cardiac parameter signal responsively thereto. An optical measurement device acquires data by emitting towards tissue of the patient 400-1000 niti light, and receiving light reflected from the tissue. An integrator unit (10) receives the cardiac parameter signal and, in response thereto, actuates the optical measurement device to acquire the data.
Abstract: New bifunctional chelation complexes are described. These are based on the structure of the so-called “TAME-HexA” molecule. The compounds are especially useful for forming chelation complexes with metal ions, including radioisotopes.

Abstract: A lighting keyboard includes a keyboard unit, and a combined circuit and lighting unit. The keyboard unit has a keyboard base, press keys mounted on the keyboard base, and an elastic layer disposed between the press keys and the keyboard base, and having elastic members disposed beneath the press keys. The combined circuit and lighting unit includes a membrane circuit substrate underlying the keyboard base, a first light-blocking layer disposed on top of the membrane circuit substrate, a first reflecting layer underlying the membrane circuit substrate, a backlighting module, and a second light-blocking layer. The backlighting module underlies the first reflecting layer, and cooperates with the first light-blocking layer, the membrane circuit substrate, and the first reflecting layer to define a light passage. The second light-blocking layer underlies the backlighting module. Light generated from the backlighting module is transmitted toward the press keys through the light passage.
Abstract: The invention relates to a dummy bar (1) for a continuous casting installation for casting a metal strand, including a dummy bar head (2), a transition piece (3) and a link chain (4), wherein the transition piece (3) and/or the link chain (4) are made of a plurality of links (5, 6) that are connected to each other in an articulated manner, and wherein the links (5, 6) can be pivoted relative to each other about a transverse axis (Q) extending perpendicular to the longitudinal axis (L) of the dummy bar (1). In order to particularly prevent internal stresses in the dummy bar when replacing parts of the dummy bar, the invention provides for at least one articulated joint (7) to be configured between two links (5, 6) that are connected to each other in an articulated manner, such that said joint allows a relative pivoting movement of the links (5, 6) about the transverse axis (Q) that is greater than any pivot angle (?) occurring during the use of the dummy bar (1).
Abstract: An auxiliary handle for a hand-held power tool (7) includes a lockable lag hinge (46) provided between the clamping section (21) and the gripping member (34) and having a pivot pin (47), a tensioning member (51) for tightening and loosening the clamping section (21) and arranged on an end (48) of the pivot pin (47) of the lag hinge (46), a locking device (41) for locking and releasing the lag hinge (46), and an independent from the tensioning member (51), unlocking device (56) for releasing the locking device (41) and having an actuation member (62) upon actuation of which, the locking device (41) is displaced from its locking position in which the lag hinge (46) is locked to its release position in which the lag hinge (46) is released.
Abstract: Membrane body (1) comprising at least one pair of panels (10, 11) connected together in an adhesive manner and for each pair of said panels (10, 11), at least one flexible sheath (15) arranged stably according to a set pattern to resist membrane stress acting on the panels (10, 11); each sheath (15) housing a respective tie rod (16), connected to the panels (10, 11) in an end position in a set manner in such a way as to be suitable for resisting normal stress to free the panels (10, 11) from the respective membrane stress, thereby maintaining the group of the panels (10, 11) flexible and maintaining the corresponding production method.
Abstract: A system and method perform structure-preserving smoothing (SPS) using a data adaptive method for smoothing 3D post-stacked seismic attributes which reduces random noise while preserving the structure without prior computation of its orientation. The data is smoothed within a neighborhood sub-window along a set of predefined orientations, and the best smoothing result is then selected for output. The orientation corresponding to the best result often approximates the true structure orientation embedded in the data, so that the embedded structure is thus preserved. The SPS method can also be combined with median, alpha-trim, symmetric near neighbor, or edge-preserving filters. The SPS method is an effective way to reduce random noise and eliminate noise footprints, and to enhance coherence and curvature attributes.
Abstract: The present invention provides a fuel saving apparatus that provides information, such as vehicle speed, a fuel injection period, fuel efficiency and engine load, to a driver in real time, thereby enabling the driver to develop economic driving and economical driving habits.
Abstract: This exercise device of the present invention is a comfortable, portable, flexible, travel friendly, light weight device that a user can use in a variety of situations or locations, without being confined to a gym or home. It is also practical for a user who is confined to a wheel-chair or a bed, as the user can exercise and stretch while seated and/or lying down. With the exercise device of the present invention, a user has the ability to exercise and/or stretch in a multiple of different ways, working multiple areas of the physique.
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a structure for fixing screen bars of a screening apparatus, which is installed in a wastewater treatment plant to remove impurities contained in wastewater and includes a screen panel formed by arranging the screen bars parallel to each other to have gaps ranging from 1 mm to 10 mm therebetween. The screen bar fixing structure of the present invention is constructed such that screen bars, which are thin and long shapes, can maintain the straightness and gaps therebetween constant even though the screen bars are not welded to support bars provided on the rear surfaces of the screen bars, thus solving the problem in which impurities such as hairs, which are relatively long, are wound around the support bars, with the result that rakes undesirably flip or are damaged, or the gaps between the screen bars become clogged.
Abstract: A plinth constructed of plastics material including a platform; a continuous side wall depending from said platform and adapted to rest on the ground, said side wall including one or more peripheral portions and one or more divider portions, each of said one or more divider portions dividing the platform into at least two load bearing sections and each divider portion including two spaced apart divider wall portions joined by a bottom wall adapted to rest on the ground so as to support the adjacent load bearing sections of said platform, said platform, said divider wall portions and said bottom wall providing a continuous top face.
Abstract: A method is provided for controlling blood flow through a blood vessel of a subject. The method includes implanting a pump outside of the blood vessel and placing within the blood vessel an expansion element that is capable of expanding the blood vessel subsequent to compression of the blood vessel by the pump. Other embodiments are also described.
Abstract: A crash barrier system is provided that generally includes a hydraulic actuator driven piston operably connected to a hydraulic circuit and the crash barrier. In general, the hydraulic circuit includes a normal-UP and normal-DOWN section, an emergency-UP section, and an overpressure relief sub-system. In order to automatically provide corrective action in the event of an overpressure condition, the overpressure relief sub-system includes an external pressure relief valve that is connected to the hydraulic circuit. Upon occurrence of condition that causes the hydraulic fluid pressure to exceed a predetermined value, hydraulic fluid is released through the pressure relief valve to maintain the pressure at or below the predetermined value.
