  • Patent number: 7530040
Abstract: A technique will automatically route interconnect of an integrated circuit while taking into consideration current density rules. In an implementation, the technique uses a shape-based approach where a grid is not used. Based on data input including current density and a frequency of each net, the technique will determine the current requirements for each net. In an implementation, the technique forms a Steiner tree for a net, and routs using the Steiner tree. The technique widens nets having greater current requirements; adjacent wiring may be pushed aside to create sufficient space for wider nets.

  • Patent number: 7512336
Abstract: Systems and methods for evaluating an optical communication link are provided. The evaluation is based on a polarization analysis of received optical power. Such an analysis is able to differentiate between received noise and received optical signal power, even for typical multi-channel signals. By appropriately analyzing the polarization of received optical power, the link quality can be evaluated. Failures may be detected and optical signal to noise ratio may be measured.

  • Patent number: 7509438
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for enabling a protection path within a network to be monitored are disclosed. According to one aspect of the present invention, a method for sending traffic on a path within an optical network system that has a plurality of nodes and a plurality of fibers includes identifying a circuit path within the optical network system which is associated with a first node and includes at least one fiber. The method also includes sending a signal that includes embedded path trace information on the circuit path from the first node on the fiber, and determining when the signal is received from the first node by a second node over the fiber. Finally, the method includes broadcasting path trace information to the plurality of nodes when it is determined that the signal is not received by the second node over the fiber.

  • Patent number: 7506194
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for efficiently enabling routing states to be recovered after a failover or during a software upgrade in a system which supports graceful restart and stateful switchover are disclosed. According to one aspect of the present invention, a method for restarting a network device which has a plurality of routers and is in communication with a first peer being arranged to support graceful restart and a second peer includes performing a graceful restart with respect to the first peer. A peer transparent failover is performed with respect to the second peer. The graceful restart and the peer transparent failover are performed in response to a failure associated with the network device.

  • Patent number: 7506311
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for enabling the framework and the application code associated with an application programming interface (API) to be efficiently and comprehensively tested are disclosed. According to one aspect of the present invention, a structure that defines an API test in declarative metadata includes an entity to be tested, a first metadata arrangement, and a second metadata arrangement. The first metadata arrangement includes any data to be used when the entity is tested, and the second metadata arrangement includes any expected outputs associated with testing the entity.

  • Patent number: 7500162
Abstract: An integrated circuit with a multiplexer system and a control circuit is described. The multiplexer system has an output terminal connected to an output pin of the integrated circuit and input terminals connected to internal nodes of the integrated circuit. In a normal mode the control circuit generates the control signals so that any one of the internal nodes is connected to the output pin so that the integrated circuit can function flexibly. In a test mode so that a different internal node is connected to the output pin in each cycle of a test clock signal.

  • Patent number: 7500004
Abstract: A method for tracking digital files transmitted over the Internet by placing certain identifying indicia within a file, and monitoring selected sites through which Internet traffic is transmitted, to determine the source and destination of a transmission containing a file with particular identifying indicia. Identifying indicia (‘ID’) is placed in the header of each digital file whose transmission over the Internet is to be monitored. A data communications monitoring device is installed at a Internet service provider's (ISP's) facility. The monitoring device intercepts packets received by the ISP. These intercepted packets are then examined to determine whether they contain an ID of interest. If a sought ID is found within the packet, the source and destination fields in the Internet Protocol (IP) header are logged, along with the ID and other information, in a database.

  • Patent number: 7490165
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for defining an alternate circuit path within a network are described. According to one aspect of the present invention, a device for computing circuit paths between a first node and a second node within a network that has a plurality of elements includes a route generator and a list mechanism. The route generator computes a primary circuit path between the first node and the second node such that the primary circuit path includes a first element. The list mechanism identifies the first element as being inaccessible to an alternate circuit path. Using the list mechanism, the route generator computes an alternate circuit path that does not include the first element identified by the list mechanism. In one embodiment, the first element is a link. In another embodiment, the first element is a node.
