Abstract: Sewing apparatus for automatically feeding individual belt loops to a folding mechanism where opposite transverse ends of each of the belt loops is folded back upon itself. The loops are then delivered in tandem to a tacker where the folded ends are automatically stitched to a garment.
Abstract: To locate potentially hydrocarbon-bearing subsurface formations, tiltmeters measure the time of arrival and the apparent direction of a lunar/solar induced earth tide at an array of points on the earth's surface. The measurements are combined to determine the shape of the tidal wave in a region of interest. The shape is indicative of subsurface viscosity in the region. Subsurface formations having an abnormally low viscosity are considered potentially hydrocarbon bearing.
Abstract: This invention pertains to means for trimming tree branches. Spaced cutting collars with sharp teeth at one end are crimped upon a flexible cable. Lead weights, sand bags, etc., are attached to and carry the flexible cutting cable into position over the branch to be cut. The cable and cutting collars are oscillated to saw the branch.
Abstract: A low cost skylight which can be provided in kit form for installation includes at least two rafter bow members. Each of these members has a convex upper edge and a straight lower edge. The straight lower edge of each bow member rests on a rafter at the edge of a roof opening. The skylight includes a sheet of flexible, light-transmitting material which overlays the rafter bow members. Fasteners, such as round head wood screws, are used to fasten the upper and lower edges of the flexible sheet to the roof surface. Gaskets and flashing members are disclosed for establishing watertight seals at the edges of the skylight.
Abstract: Paper containing three module staffs of contiguous, distinctly shaded bands of equal width are printed with non-photographically reproducible ink on a planar sheet. The bands of each module are spaced from a similar module by a band of non-color and an uncolored area is provided about the periphery of the sheet. Letters are printed or written commencing in the space of the middle one of shaded bands of each module to teach writing in an area rather than on a line. The ascending and descending portions of the letters are formed on the upper and lower bands to teach proper proportioning of the letters and the words formed on any one staff are spaced from words on an adjacent staff and the periphery of the paper by the non-colored areas to stimulate proper spacing and margination. Because of the non-photographically reproducible ink used to form the bands, the paper may be photographically reproduced and the writing compared with that on unlined paper to determine the progress of a student.
Abstract: A skateboard including a brake assembly for slowing and stopping the vehicle. A pivotal member on the rear of the board is provided with a depending rubber stop for engagement with the ground surface when the member is tilted by the heel of the shoe of the skater. The member is normally maintained in a raised position by a spring hinge.
Abstract: Belt loop plies cut from the same area of a fabric lay are stacked in individual stacks in the order which they are cut and each stack is formed into a chain of belt loops. Each chain is separated into individual loops while collating the individual loops to form groups of loops in which each loop has been cut from the same area on a fabric lay. The individual loops in each group are collated from each chain in side-by-side relation on a conveyor belt in the reverse order in which they were cut from the fabric lay and wound into a bundle so that the first group cut from the fabric lay is on the exterior of the bundle. The collated loops in the bundle can be removed and sewn to garment pieces cut from adjacent areas on the lay to maintain the same shading characteristics of the component pieces of the garment throughout its construction.
Abstract: A universal size woman's garment pattern and the method of customizing and shaping the pattern to the individual figure dimensions of a woman is disclosed.

Abstract: A variable picture frame assembly in which adjacent frames are joined together by snap-on clips which fit over and engage the sidewalls of the frames. Two types of clips are described, one that is U-shaped for connecting adjacent frames in a planar array and another that is double U-shaped for connecting adjacent frames in an angular array. The clips and frames in unassembled form are enclosed for display and merchandising in a blister package in which the base card has cuts formed on it defining backings for the frames.

Abstract: A door latch including a two part keeper element and a latch element. Each part of the keeper element is L-shaped. The longer legs of each part are secured to the edge of a door and door frame, respectively, in back to back relation so that when the door is closed, the shorter legs of each part are in abutment in a vertical plane parallel to but spaced from the door. The latch element includes a hollow sleeve slid over the keeper element parts to retain them together precluding the door from being opened unless the sleeve is removed.
Abstract: A portable book rack including a pair of side bars having facing surfaces joined together at their ends by a pair of cross bars. A bookend is pivotably and removably connected between each end of the side bars so as to pivot from a substantially upright position supporting a plurality of books therebetween to a flat position for storage and/or shipping substantially coplanar and between the side bars. The facing surfaces of the side bars are provided with one or more pairs of facing and aligned vertical slots for receiving one of the bookends to adjust the relative distance between the bookends. Alternatively, an additional bookend can be used as a divider between the first pair of bookends by insertion between one pair of the facing and aligned vertical slots formed in the side bars.
Abstract: To permit a cook to easily adapt an existing recipe, a calculator includes logic circuitry for calculating and storing the ratio of servings desired to servings stated in the recipe. The calculator also includes a keyboard for entering the quantity of each ingredient stated in the recipe. Desired units of measure and stated units of measure can be entered through marked keys. The calculator converts a stated quantity in the stated units to the amount required for the desired number of servings in the desired units of measure. The results are displayed on a visual display.
Abstract: An electrical connector comprising a male plug is assembled in a housing which is permanently secured to a wall outlet, the male plug being movable forwardly in the housing into engagement with the terminals of the wall outlet, the housing having a key-operated lock arranged to lock the male plug in its forward position in the housing.
Abstract: Pet feeding apparatus including a plurality of food-containing tubes, each of which is opened at spaced time intervals by a trap door held closed by the retractable plunger of an electrical relay connected in electrical series to an electrical timer. Upon receiving a signal from the timer, the plunger of the relay is retracted to allow the trap door to open by gravity to dispense pet food in one of the food tubes. Simultaneously, a solenoid valve is opened for a fixed time interval to drain water from a water tank to mix with the pet food and to supply drinking water for the pet.
Abstract: A book copier attachment for a copy machine supports a plurality of books which are to be copied. The device comprises a support frame removably mounted on a copy machine. A platform for holding the book is hingeably joined to the support frame. A paper holding element is removably mounted on the support frame. A clip board is removably mounted to the paper holding element.
