Abstract: A propulsion unit comprises an elongated chamber having a front closed end and a rear open end with a side opening having a decreasing cross section inwardly of the chamber and directing incoming fluid tangentially of curved internal chamber walls for imparting a spin motion to such fluid for immediately redirecting fluid motion into an inwardly spiraling and longitudinally spreading flow outwardly of the open chamber end to propel the chamber forwardly. The unit operates with random wave motion as well as with expanding gases from a combustion chamber.
Abstract: A low cost insulating panel for covering walls of existing structures has an expanded cellular core having complementary stepped side edges of differing width to define depressions in a combination of two panels. The panel has thin flat reinforcing strips along side edges extending upon a front face of the panel and therefrom into the stepped configurations at most to come in contact in the depression formed by two mating panels without extending to a back face of any panel.
Abstract: Four orthagonally oriented rigid blades are fixed together along a side of each and taper to a common pointed bottom with a rigid top plate affixed across the top of the blades and a steel tube extends upwardly from the plate to receive and support a post such as a sign post, fence post or the like extending upwardly from the device. The invention is adapted to be driven into the ground to support and anchor posts. The invention also includes a "break away" embodiment incorporating a thick high density rubber retainer atop the rigid plate about the tube which has a flanged bottom beneath the rubber retainer and a rigid centrally apertured plate is bolted onto the top plate to hold the rubber retainer and tube on the top plate. A heavy blow to a post mounted in the tube will tilt the tube to pivot the flange thereof to deform the retainer and allow the tube and flange to flip out of the upper apertured plate as a break away feature without damage to the invention.
Abstract: A free flying magnetic levitator that is self stabilized and fully maneuverable for magnetic structure establishing an odd number of poles for interaction with another magnetic field having an even number of poles to produce linear motion instead of rotation without a guideway. Longitudinally wound coils produce the odd pole magnetic field for maximizing coupling with an even pole field such as the magentic field of the earth.
Abstract: In an automated multilevel rotary parking system double flow through vehicle paths including endless conveyors and elevators together with rotary parking platforms maximize vehicle handling capabilities. Vehicle flow paths are particularly arranged to facilitate vehicle movement in a rapid and orderly manner.
Abstract: A system for thermally decomposing chemical materials efficiently and controllably heats input feed materials to very high temperatures for decomposition in the presence or absence of oxygen by heating means that may be disposed peripherally or intermediately of reaction zones may be of the protected type and may include preheating of feed material and process gas.
Abstract: A tufting machine feeds upholstered female and male button parts into drive mechanisms above and below a central table for receiving a cushion to be tufted. A retractable needle drive assembly forms an aperture through a cushion on the table along a drive axis of the machine, and, following retraction, a male button driver moves a male button part into the aperture and holds this button part on the drive axis while an upper drive mechanism drives a female button part onto the male button part to lock the parts together to complete a single tufting operation. Safety means prevent damage to elements and mechanisms of the tufting machine by possible malfunctioning or improper operation.
Abstract: An enclosed newspaper vending machine has a double front door with a paper access door mounted in a security door carrying coin actuated release mechanism for the paper access door and a key operated pin lock fits within a surrounding guard on the front of the security door for locking engagement with a rod or pin extending forwardly from an interior wall of the enclosure.
Abstract: A unitary limitedly flexible retainer for the legs of eviscerated poultry has multiple straps for engaging the creases in the poultry hocks together with an improved lower strap, together with a locking tab provides for positive locking of poultry legs of varying sizes and lengths for trussing poultry.
Abstract: A removable sander attachment is formed as a flat plate with upstanding sides and a limited length for fitting under the forward portion of a belt of sandpaper or the like on a portable vibrating or oscillating sander with the sides of the attachment engaging the sides of the sander cushion to provide a short or limited sanding surface for sanding small areas of extended surfaces.
Abstract: A poultry or meat cooking timer has a hollow barrel with an open top slidably receiving a stem with an inner end immersed in a fusible holding material in the barrel to normally hold the stem within the barrel against the force of a spring in the barrel urging the stem outwardly therefrom. The stem has an integral tapered flange thereabout that is force fitted through an inner barrel ridge near the top of the barrel bore and the stem has a large top with a substantially flat surface for engaging a barrel flange for positively sealing the stem and barrel in normal retracted stem position to prevent intrusion of foreign substances into the barrel bore prior to stem release by the fusible material at a predetermined temperature.
Abstract: The present invention provides a unitary flexible retainer for holding the legs of eviscerated poultry tightly against the body of the fowl over the rear body opening and includes a central locking member cooperating with straps for positively securing the poultry legs tightly against each of the hocks thereof, together with anchors into kidney openings in the poultry backbone.
Abstract: A system for enhancing the testability of functional electronic circuitry may be provided as a separate device or incorporated in circuits and includes serial or parallel control point input data capability applied through tri-statable output drivers to input nodes of circuit elements of functional circuitry without interference with such circuitry during non-testing situations and receivers for observing resultant logic states at output nodes of functional circuitry being tested.
Abstract: A thermal decomposition reactor accepts solid, liquid or gaseous waste products of industrial processes or the like and rapidly reduces same to substances such as carbon dioxide, water and glassified non-leachable ash without limitation by materials that may be commonly included in such waste.
Abstract: An endless train of dollies with means for continuously moving them in an oval path and in either direction, each dolly supporting a tray rack that in turn can removably support a plurality of trays in stacked relation. Bus boys load trays of soiled dishes into the tray racks at one station in the endless train of moving dollies. The endless train of moving dollies is positioned adjacent to a second endless train of moving dollies, each dolly in this second train supporting a basket for receiving soiled dishware and trays that a second bus boy standing in a second station positioned between the two endless trains of dollies transfers trays of soiled dishware with their trays from the tray racks to the baskets in the second endless conveyor. The tray racks are of novel construction and each one consists of a U-shaped casing in horizontal cross section.
