Patent number: 5173607Abstract: A method for correction of the counting error in liquid scintillation counting in the attenuation of light passing through a sample solution is measured before or after the actual liquid scintillation counting takes place. By means of the attenuation measurement the error in the liquid scintillation counting result, caused by the colorness of the sample solution, and/or by the counting apparatus, is corrected. The apparatus has a liquid scintillation counter provided with cylinder shaped optics. A photometer is incorporated in the liquid scintillation counter. By means of the photometer, the attenuation of light passing through the sample solution is measured before or after the actual liquid scintillation counting measurement, where said attenuation is caused by the colorness of the sample solution and/or due to features of the apparatus.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 1991Date of Patent: December 22, 1992Assignee: Wallac OyInventors: Tapio Yrjonen, Jan Ostrup

Patent number: 5170873Abstract: In a twin clutch, a positioning member 23 and a reverse movement obstruction member 21 are installed on an outer periphery of an intermediate plate 11. Projections 32 extend from the positioning member 23 and elastic lingual pieces 29 extend from a reverse movement obstruction member 21 respectively. A movement of the positioning member 23 to a pressure plate 5 side relative to the reverse movement obstruction member 21 is obstructed by an engagement of the elastic lingual pieces 29 with the projections 32. A movement of the positioning member 23 relative to the reverse movement obstruction member 21 is allowed only to the flywheel 5 side. Therefore, a force can be minimized which is required to move the positioning member 23 to the flywheel 5 side according to a wear of the first clutch disc 15, and a load reduction under a clutch engaged state can be decreased preferably.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 1991Date of Patent: December 15, 1992Assignee: Kabushibu Kaisha Daikin SeisakushoInventor: Yoshinobu Fukuda

Patent number: 5171997Abstract: The counting error due to variations in the counting efficiency as a function of the volume of the sample is corrected. The sample is placed into a sample container which is placed into a vertically positioned cylinder shaped counting chamber. Photomultiplier tubes are disposed on the opposite ends of the counting chamber. At least two of the following spectra are measured in the coincidence counting: the sum spectrum q observed by both of the photomultiplier tubes, the spectrum q(y) observed by the upper photomultiplier tube and the spectrum q(a) observed by the lower photomultiplier tube. The counting error is corrected by the correction coefficient obtained from these spectra.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 1991Date of Patent: December 15, 1992Assignee: Wallac OyInventors: Kauko Lehtinen, Tapio Yrjonen

Patent number: 5172100Abstract: A prism is installed at a lower part of the windshield near the dashboard with a first surface of the prism directed toward a viewing point of a driver and a second surface held in contact with the inner side of the windshield. The first or second surface of the prism is made a reflecting surface. The third surface is formed with a dark paint layer. The apex of the prism where the first and second surfaces join is tilted toward the driver seat in such a manner that the second surface becomes a total reflection surface for light from the third surface with respect to the viewing point of a driver. The display image of an indicator installed in the dashboard below the prism is reflected either by the first or second reflecting surface of the prism toward the driver's viewing point. Light from the dark third surface of the prism is totally reflected by the second surface toward the driver to provide a dark background for the display, enhancing the display contrast.Type: GrantFiled: May 16, 1991Date of Patent: December 15, 1992Assignee: Yazaki CorporationInventor: Tadashi Iino
