Abstract: This disclosure relates to a collar construction which is adapted to be secured to the neckline of a garment such as a shirt, sportshirt or the like. The collar comprises an elongated panel which includes pointed wings at opposite ends thereof, a free marginal edge and a connecting edge extended between said pointed wings. The connecting marginal edge is adapted to be secured to said garment. Furthermore, the collar includes a pair of slits, spaced apart from each other and symmetrically arranged along the elongated panel with respect to the middle portion thereof. A central inner rear portion is defined between the slits, whereby the pointed wings being movable independently one from the other and from the inner rear portion of the panel, particularly when the collar is used in an open fashion over the lapels of the collar of a jacket, while the inner rear portion will be partially hidden by the collar of said jacket encircling the wearer's neck.
Abstract: A glass break apparatus and method includes a pedestal which forms an airtight seal to a syringe and to the glass over the break. The flange on the pedestal enables the gripping and sealing.
Abstract: A stringed musical instrument such as an electric guitar or an electric bass guitar is balanced to render the instant comfortable to play, supported by a support plate at its center of gravity. The tuning machines are on the body for the purpose of balance. The neck should be of proper weight and rigidity to sustain greater tone and brilliance.
Abstract: A control system for an electronic music synthesizer includes a circuit responsive to the keying of a musical instrument for producing a binary coded signal. This signal is converted to an analog signal, for application to a music synthesizer. The analog voltage may be modified, for transposition or for portamento effects. The coding circuit may produce trigger and gate voltages for the synthesizer, whereby blowing of the musical instrument, if a wind instrument is employed, is not necessary. Alternatively, the trigger and gate pulses for the synthesizer may be developed from the output of the transducer coupled to the instrument.
Abstract: A volumetrically efficient solid electrolyte capacitor includes a metal container electrode with a capacitor chip sealed with a conductive sealant, sealed against heat, moisture and handling damage.
Abstract: A food defrost and cooking apparatus includes a drum and a stand. The drum's position may be freely changed on the stand to shift the food in the drum during defrosting and cooking, but motion of the drum is limited by a camming arrangement between the stand and drum and a stop. The drum is also optionally vertically supportable on the stand for convenient loading.
Abstract: A grinding wheel in which at least one core material of open-mesh fabric woven of glass fiber yarn and at least one core material of floral design made by forming glass fiber yarn in floral pattern of long and short petals are embedded as reinforcing core materials.
Abstract: An elevated dual-rail transit guideway in which the structural spanning members are shaped so as to serve also as baffles for suppressing the propagation of noise into the surroundings. The interior surface of the baffles may be treated with sound absorbing material to further improve their effectiveness.
Abstract: A multipurpose bushing having maximum useable internal space has snap means outside the periphery of the bushing collar and spacers that fit in with round and flat sided apertures.
Abstract: An electric pickup for a lute-type musical instrument such as a guitar, has generally circular axial adjustment openings with internal wrench flats in unhardened steel or iron pole pieces. Two bar-type permanent magnets are disposed with like polarities adjacent and straddling one end of the pole pieces. A keeper of steel or the like bridges the permanent magnets.
Abstract: This invention relates to a variable speed power transmission provided with rotary units which are mounted on an input axis and an output axis in parallel with each other, with a phase angle difference therebetween so as to maintain static balance on the whole.
Abstract: An electro-optical display device comprising a multitude of liquid crystal display elements arranged in a predetermined order to represent analogically expressed quantity by counting numbers of said display elements sequentially and accumulatively turning on. Said display elements include a layer of liquid crystal material confined between a pair of electrodes. On the one side of said pair of electrodes one pulse signal is applied transmitted selectively from a plurality of different pulses and on the other side of said pair of electrodes another pulse signal is applied transmitted selectively from a plurality of different pulses. The combination of said two selected pulses produces a plurality of combined pulses equivalent to an alternating current pulse which have a certain effective value of a voltage.
Abstract: A safety device for a conveyor belt which comprises a pair of magnets buried in a joint of a belt or buried in the belt with the joint therebetween, with a certain space left therebetween in the lengthwise direction of the belt, a magnetic inductor arranged oppositely to said magnets, an oscillograph connected to said magnetic inductor for self-recording or a detecting device connected to said magnetic inductor for detecting any elongation at the joint in its early stages.
Abstract: A one-piece strain relief bushing includes independent means for grasping the wall surrounding an aperture and open and closeable means for grasping a cord or cable so as to relieve strain while being able to release the cord or cable without having to detach the strain relief bushing from its position in the aperture.

Abstract: An expansion joint comprising a joint member having opposing horizontal fixing bodies, such composed of a horizontal cushion course and a vertical cushion source made of elastic material on or under a steel flat horizontal base course, which are connected together by an expansion plate of elastic material that is formed in wave shape and comprises a flexible, flat part and an apex part, and stepped holes composed of a nut hole and an anchor bolt hole concentric with said nut hole made in said horizontal base course at regular intervals, and a method of installing such expansion joints by using an anchor bolt setter.
Abstract: An electronic timepiece comprising a time indicating body which is composed of a multitude of liquid crystal display elements arranged in hour indicating sections and minute indicating sections respectively, said display elements for hour indication being activated to be turned ON one after another, said display elements for minute indication being activated to be turned ON successively and accumulatively in response to the application of controlled electric signals transmitted from an electronic circuitry for driving said display elements, said hour and minute indications creating various display patterns on the surface of said indicating body so that the time is indicated analogically by said display patterns with time information.
