  • Patent number: 4743408
Abstract: A device for continuously introducing a gas into a liquid, in connection with a flotation operation, a deinking unit or the like. The liquid issues from an endless annular gap (6) which does not have any internal obstacles whatever such as boundary walls or the like and, after absorbing the gas, flows into a radial diffuser (14) from which the liquid, enriched with gas bubbles, issues into the treatment container of the apparatus. Therefore, for a treatment tank of circular cross-section, a single gasification device which is disposed centrally in the vicinity of the bottom is sufficient. An optional swirl flow may be produced by suitable deflection in the region of the diffuser or in the chamber for the liquid, which is disposed upstream in the annular gap.

  • Patent number: 4707236
Abstract: The invention pertains to an electrophoretic technique for fabricating a progressively graded concentration of dye in a hydrophilic polymeric matrix or gel. A charged dye or dye precursor is caused to migrate under the influence of an electrical potential through the gel matrix. An area is formed in the hydrogel matrix which is progressively graded in optical density as a function of the distance from the point of application to the hydrogel matrix. The insertion of the dye through the hydrogel matrix of a contact lens it may be used to form a contact lens with an optically graded central spot.

  • Patent number: 4591532
Abstract: A flooring to be used for vehicles, vessels, etc. The flooring comprises a lowermost rubber layer which makes direct contact with a floor board of a vehicle, a surface layer which constitutes a surface layer portion of the flooring and an intermediate layer interposed between the lowermost layer and the surface layer. The lowermost rubber layer contains a hydrate which discharges water of crystallization at the temperature of 150.degree.-300.degree. C. and accordingly prevents rise of surface temperature by discharging water of crystallization in case of fire in a vehicle and the intermediate layer checks heat conduction from the lowermost layer and thus rise of surface temperature of flooring can be controlled for many hours.

  • Patent number: 4552356
Abstract: The invention features an exercising harness wherein the arms and legs are moved in unison providing a rhythmic exercising routine to be achieved. The harness comprises right and left hand grips, each having an inelastic leg strap attached thereto. An elastic cord is connected between the hand grips and allows a tension to develop between the movement of the limbs on either side with respect to the other side. In a typical routine, first the right arm and leg are raised, while the left arm and leg are held steady. The procedure is reversed, causing an alternating raising and lowering of limbs on each side. This provides a highly rhythmic exercise.
