  • Patent number: 4545843
Abstract: Adhesive tape is manufactured by laminating at least one layer of a heat activated adhesive film to one layer of a substrate material, and coating the thereby obtained laminate with a pressure sensitive adhesive. Because the substrate is laminated with a film, typically a random copolymer of ethylene and acrylic acid, the adhesive which is thereafter coated on the laminate will not flow through the substrate, even if a porous substrate is used.

  • Patent number: 4528750
Abstract: A connector assembly for metallic wires comprises a tapered spring coil member made from stiff elastic wire having a distended end at the apex and a thermoplastic member having an elongated shell with a central bore closed at one end by a wall and having on the other end a substantially circular opening. The inside of the bore is substantially tapered such as to be adapted to house the tapered spring coil member. Two recesses are provided in the tapered inside wall of the thermoplastic member running on opposite sides substantially parallel to the central axis of the bore for providing a locking position to the distended end of the inserted spring coil member. A protrusion near the open end of the thermoplastic member retains the tapered spring coil member inside of the thermoplastic member. The thermoplastic member preferably on its outside forms a frustrum of a cone with, in addition, two substantially conical section planes being provided to allow for easy gripping of the connector assembly.

  • Patent number: 4529087
Abstract: An antistatic sheet or bag for electrostatic sensitive devices is obtained by uniformly mixing a thermoplastic polymer such as polyethylene with about 0.1 to 0.7 per cent by weight of an antistat, extruding the mixture in the form of a tubular sheet, subjecting the sheet to a corona discharge, printing on the sheet or both sides of a tube forming said sheet, with a carbon conducting ink, cutting the sheet into units of desired length and sealing the end of each such cut unit to form a bag.

  • Patent number: 4522614
Abstract: An automatic tension maintaining power transmission belt, a method of making the same and a method for maintaining tension in a rubber belt transmission. The belt is made by embedding polyester fiber cord employing a polyester of high relative viscosity and after being subjected to a hot stretching process as a tensile member in rubber forming the belt. The thermal contraction force of the polyester cord is to be substantially maintained by avoiding shrinkage of the belt during vulcanization. The belt of the present invention is characterized by exhibiting shrinkage of said polyester fiber cords through thermal contractive forces caused by frictional heat generated by slippage of the belt upon lowering of belt tension during belt running. The minimum tension necessary for transmission of power is recovered, the slippage is eliminated for a while and proper tension is maintained. Such automatic action repeats when it becomes needed again.

  • Patent number: 4519338
Abstract: An apparatus and method for covering and sealing dumped waste is provided wherein hardenable plastic foam is sprayed in a swath as waste is compacted by a roller. The roller is wider than the treads of the tractor vehicle, the spray nozzles are angulated alternately, spraying any projection. The configuration of the wheel and nozzles reduced gaps in the foam layer by a large factor over the prior art using less foam and labor and in less time.
