  • Patent number: 7419496
Abstract: A trocar having a cutting shaft with a cutting surface at a distal end. The cutting shaft moves longitudinally with respect to an obturator such that in one position the cutting surface is in an exposed position suitable for application of a piercing force. Upon interruption of the piercing force to the cutting surface, the cutting surface moves longitudinally with respect to the obturator such that the cutting surface is in a retracted position within the obturator. The trocar may include a first spring urging the cutting surface to an exposed position and a second spring urging the cutting surface to a retracted position. The second spring has a slightly stronger biasing force than the first spring to bias the cutting surface to the retracted position.

  • Patent number: 7414727
Abstract: A method for etalon suppression in a gas detection device by determining an etalon fringe period during a calibration step without gas in dependency of the DC drive current. A measuring signal which is a function of the gas absorption and substantially independent of an intensity modulation of an initial light signal at an initial frequency (f) is generated by determining a first pre-measuring signal when the laser source is operated at the center of the gas absorption peak, a second pre-measuring signal when the laser source is operated with a DC drive current below the gas absorption peak of the gas to be detected, and a third pre-measuring signal when the laser source is operated with a DC drive current above said gas absorption peak, with a difference between said DC drive currents which corresponds to the etalon fringe period determined in a calibration step before.

  • Patent number: 7406892
Abstract: A plastic molded gear capable of reducing teeth knocking noises due to backlash during engagement. A protruding portion 5 for eliminating backlash is formed so as to protrude from both end portions in facewidth directions on one tooth flank 6 of each tooth 2, and the protruding portion 5 is not formed on the other tooth flank 12 of the tooth 2. If the protruding portion 5 is elastically deformed so as to absorb backlash, the protruding portion 5 has the same plane as that of the one tooth flank 6, and the other tooth flank 12 of the tooth 2 serves as a main power transmission surface. With this construction, the protruding portion 5 elastically contacts the tooth flank of a companion gear engaged with the plastic molded gear, so that the elastic deformation of the protruding portion 5 absorbs rotational energy of the companion gear during intermittent rotation.
