Abstract: An applicator device for a fluid, gel-like, pasty or powder product comprising a storage compartment in which the product is accommodated in free form, and an outlet for the product. Abstract: Shock absorber containing a flow channel (16), provided with a valve assembly, made in the piston section. This valve assembly is designed to be actuated hydraulically. To this end there is an auxiliary chamber (22, 42) which on one side is eliminated by a movable valve body (18). This valve body is provided with an inlet for oil from the flow channel to the auxiliary chamber. There is an outlet (21, 41) (that can be closed off). The surface area of the valve body acting on the valve seat (19) is less than the surface area of the valve body in the auxiliary chamber, so that fluid flowing through the inlet of the valve body results in an increase in the volume of the auxiliary chamber and thus in closing movement of the valve body. Because filing of the auxiliary chamber takes some time, a frequenncy-dependend closing characteristic of the flow channel is obtained.

Abstract: A control circuit 8 of a switching power source comprises a voltage detector 31 for detecting a voltage VDC of a DC power supply 1 to produce a detection voltage VDT; a comparator 41 for producing an output signal VCP when detection voltage VDT from voltage detector 31 exceeds a reference voltage VR2; a bottom voltage detector 51 for detecting a bottom point of voltage VDS across a MOS-FET 3 after energy has been discharged from transformer 2; and a switching controller 61 for selectively turning MOS-FET 3 on depending on existence or absence of the output signal VCP from comparator 41. When the input voltage VDC from DC power supply 1 so rises that detection voltage VDT of voltage detector 31 is above the reference voltage VR2, switching controller 61 serves to late turn MOS-FET 3 on at the time bottom voltage detector 51 detects the second or later bottom point of the voltage VDS across MOS-FET 3, extending the off period of MOS-FET 3 to reduce switching frequency of MOS-FET 3.

Abstract: When an aluminum plate is bonded directly to a ceramic substrate by cooling and solidifying molten aluminum which is injected into a mold so as to contact the ceramic substrate arranged in the mold, an additive, such as a TiB alloy, Ca or Sr, for decreasing the grain size of the aluminum plate to 10 mm or less while preventing the drop in thermal conductivity of the aluminum plate from the thermal conductivity of a pure aluminum plate from exceeding 20% of the thermal conductivity of the pure aluminum plate is added to the molten aluminum. When an aluminum alloy plate of an aluminum-silicon alloy is bonded directly to a ceramic substrate by cooling and solidifying a molten aluminum-silicon alloy which is injected into a mold so as to contact the ceramic substrate arranged in the mold, an aluminum-silicon alloy containing 0.1 to 1.5 wt % of silicon and 0.03 to 0.10 wt % of boron is injected into the mold.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of in-situ monitoring a reduction process of uranium oxides by lithium metal, wherein a conversion yield of uranium metal from uranium oxides upon production of uranium metal through a reaction of uranium oxides (UOx, x?3) with lithium metal in the presence of a high-temperature molten salt is measured according to an electrochemical analysis based on an oxidation of an oxygen ion and a reduction of a lithium ion dissociated from lithium oxide obtained as a by-product of the reaction, by use of a measuring device composed of a potentiostat/galvanostat and a reactor provided with an anode and a cathode. The in-situ monitoring method of the current invention is advantageous in terms of fast and simplified measuring techniques, by directly measuring the reduction process of uranium oxides at the anode and cathode connected to the potentiostat/galvanostat in the presence of the high-temperature molten salt.

Abstract: RF and gradient pulse combinations (30, 32, 36, 38) are applied to limit or define a region of interest in two dimensions (42) by pre-saturating surrounding regions (34a, 34b, 40a, 40b). A 90.degree. RF pulse (50) is applied in the presence of a slice select gradient (60) to excite selected dipoles in a slice or slab, defining the region of interest or voxel in the third dimension. Phase encoding gradients (62) and (64) are applied to encode spatial position in two dimensions of the slice. A binomial refocusing pulse (52) suppresses the water and refocuses the metabolite resonance into an echo which is acquired (68) by a receiver (26). A Fourier transform means (72, 74) transforms the received magnetic resonance signals to create a two dimensional array (76) or matrix of spectra (78) corresponding to a two dimensional array of spatial positions within the slice.
