Abstract: A cooled mirror device for laser systems or the like, comprising a main mirror body and a mirror cover rigidly connected to the main mirror body, wherein the main mirror body and/or the mirror cover have a cooling device, wherein the mirror cover is made from an aluminum material, and coated with copper or another reflection-enhancing material to form a reflection-enhancing mirror surface.
Abstract: A fluid motor has a rotor mounted within a housing internal space. A piston positioned within the rotor and may be mounted to an output shaft. The output shaft is driven by applying pressure difference from a fluid both across the rotor within the internal space and across the piston so as to bias the rotor against the housing and produce a camming action to rotate the rotor.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for fabricating an integrally bladed rotor which comprises providing a hub section, preferably formed from a titanium based alloy, and welding an airfoil, also preferably formed from a titanium based alloy, to the hub section. The method further comprises partially aging and cooling the hub section prior to welding and aging the airfoil and the weld joint between the airfoil and the hub section subsequent to welding. The post welding aging step is preferably carried out using a novel encapsulated local airfoil heating device having a plurality of heating elements woven into a jacket made from a high temperature cloth material. The method of the present invention may also be used to repair integrally bladed rotors.

Abstract: In a system for coupling a toothed starter ring to a support connected to the output shaft of an internal combustion engine, a complementary substantially cylindrical peripheral surface of the ring is fixed over at least a part of its extent to a substantially cylindrical peripheral surface of the support in such a manner that the ring can deform slightly in the radial direction toward the shaft to reduce the maximum stresses exerted on the ring during a starting operation.

Abstract: Concrete's durability to freeze-thaw cycles is dependent on its level of air entrainment, the appropriate level of which is achieved with the aid of surface active or air entraining agents. These agents promote the fragmentation of large air voids into smaller ones and stabilize air voids in the concrete. The carbon matter found in fly ash when used as a pozzolanic component of concrete, adsorbs the air entraining agents, reduces the air voids and concrete's ability to withstand many freeze-thaw cycles. This invention teaches a process for a partial removal of the carbon from the coal ash, used in concrete, through a partial combustion of only a fine carbon fraction of the carbon residue of the coal ash responsible for adsorbing the air entraining agents, in a reactor with a controlled ignition system. The process of the invention thus limits the adsorption of the air entraining agents and improves the freeze-thaw properties of the concrete produced.

The central processing unit includes a staging table module for receiving and gathering the inputted data, a master table module for receiving the inputted data from the staging table module and for analyzing, organizing, and standardizing the inputted parts data, and a temporary table module for aggregating transactional records about the parts, which transactional records contain performance metrics on the parts.
Abstract: A water soluble bactericide is obtained by ozone-oxidizing glycerin. Specifically, a 0.1 to 20% glycerin aqueous solution and gas phase ozone obtained by ozonizing oxygen through contact between oxygen and a silent discharge field, are brought into gas-liquid contact with each other, thereby to ozone-oxdize glycerin. Alternatively, a 0.1 to 20% glycerin aqueous solution is electrolyzed, thereby to produce ozone directly in the glycerin aqueous solution.
Abstract: Semiconductor components in a wafer assembly, in which the components are connected to a frame by means of in each case one holder and are formed from the same silicon wafer. The holder connects the respective component to the frame on one side and has a desired breaking point. The desired breaking point is designed as a V-shaped groove, the surfaces of which form crystal planes. According to the method, the patterning for production of the holder takes place on the wafer back surface, with subsequent wet chemical anisotropic etching of the V-groove. In this way, the holder is produced independently of the processing of the wafer front surface, and when the semiconductor component is removed a defined broken edge is formed without there being any risk of the semiconductor component being damaged.
Abstract: There is provided a method for producing a metal/ceramic bonding article, the method including the steps of: bonding a metal plate 12 of an alloy containing copper and nickel directly to at least one side of a ceramic substrate 10; applying a resist 14 on a predetermined portion of the metal plate 12 to remove an undesired portion of the metal plate 12 by etching; and removing the resist 14 to form a pattern having a predetermined shape of the alloy on the ceramic substrate 10. According to this method, it is possible to reduce the displacement failure of parts to improve productivity and to prevent bonding failure during the mounting of a semiconductor device or the like thereon.
Abstract: The present invention concerns the improvement of the supercurrent carrying capabilities, i.e. the increase of critical current densities, of bicrystalline or polycrystalline superconductor structures, especially of high-Tc superconductors. By providing an appropriate predetermined dopant profile across the superconductor structure, in particular within or in the vicinity of the grain boundaries, the space-charge layers at the grain boundaries are reduced and thereby the current transport properties of the superconductor significantly improved. Simultaneously, the influence of magnetic fields on the critical current densities is significantly reduced, which in turn enhances the overall supercurrent carrying capabilities while keeping the supercurrent transport properties of the grains at good values.

Abstract: A lift/swivel drive comprising a working element which can traverse rotationally and linearly in relation to a housing element. In order to displace the working element in a controllable linear and rotative manner in relation to the housing element, at least one linear motor and at least one rotative motor are assigned to the working element and/or the housing element.
Abstract: The invention relates to a computer application in the field of control, monitoring, modification and/or optimization of processes which comprise real process sequences of discrete events, so-called “discrete event dynamic systems”, which cannot usually be described by systems of (differential) equations. Such processes occur for example in technical developments as well as in other business activities in the industrial or tertiary sector. Such a real process is reflected in a process model which is connected to the real process via at least one interface. If the interface(s) is/are bi-directional, real process data can be transmitted into the model directly, i.e. without data conversion, and thus the real process can be monitored; in the model, simulations can be carried out with changed process data; and finally if the result of the simulation is successful, process modifications can be transferred directly to the real process.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is an apparatus and method for similarity searches using hyper-rectangle based multidimensional data segmentation. The similarity search apparatus has MBR generation means, first sequence pruning means, second sequence pruning means, and subsequence finding means. The MBR generation means segments a multidimensional data sequence to be partitioned into subsequences, and represents each subsequence by each Minimum Bounding Rectangle (MBR), such that sets of MBRs are generated from the multidimensional data sequence, and the MBR sets are stored in a database. The first sequence pruning means prunes irrelevant data sequences using a distance Dmbr between MBRs extracted from an inputted query sequence and the MBR sets stored in the database in a multidimensional Euclidean space.

Abstract: Drive system for an all-wheel driven motor vehicle having a first and a second driven axle (3, 9), which drive system has a differential-speed-dependent clutch (6) for driving the second driven axle, and an at least partially lockable differential (8) between the wheels of the second driven axle (9). The differential-speed-dependent clutch (6) comprises a pump (10) which, when a differential speed occurs, produces a pressure which leads to the transmission of a torque to the second driven axle (9). In order to ensure that the differential lock responds in a manner coordinated neatly in terms of time and taking account of the driving state, a connecting line (18) leads from the delivery side (11 or 12) of the pump (10) to an actuating member (27) of the lockable differential (8), with the result that, when a differential speed occurs, the pressure produced by the pump (10; 67) makes it possible to at least partially lock the differential (8) by means of a positive locking clutch (26).
