  • Patent number: 4849604
Abstract: A heating device for mounting on an air inlet manifold of a compression ignition engine to heat the air flowing to the engine comprises a thin walled tubular element closed at one end and having a fuel inlet at the other end. A ceramic plug is located in the element to direct fuel flow against the interior surface of the element. A heating element is wound about the tubular element to heat and vaporize the fuel which flows out through an opening adjacent the one end. The fuel vapor forms an air/fuel mixture which is ignited by an ignition element.

  • Patent number: 4848668
Abstract: An inwardly opening fuel injection nozzle includes a first spring which is coupled by means of a push rod to the valve member of the nozzle. The nozzle includes a second spring positioned between the first spring and the valve member and acting upon a slidable abutment member which is engaged by the valve member after a predetermined movement of the valve member away from a seating. The valve member is lifted against the first spring by fuel under pressure supplied to an inlet to allow restricted fuel flow through an outlet and further against the action of both springs as the pressure at the inlet increases to allow unrestricted flow through the outlet.

  • Patent number: 4844033
Abstract: A fuel injection pumping apparatus for supplying fuel to a compression ignition engine has an annular cam ring which has internal cam lobes for imparting inward movement through cam followers respectively to pumping plungers mounted in a rotary distributor member. Stop rings are mounted alongside the cam ring to determine the maximum outward movement of the plungers. The stop rings are angularly adjustable to enable the maximum amount of fuel supplied to the engine to be varied. Two adjusting devices are provided the first being a piston which is subject to a fluid pressure varying with speed. The piston is biased by a spring and sets the stop rings to allow an excess of fuel for engine starting purposes and the second is a diaphragm assembly responsive to the air pressure in the engine inlet manifold.

  • Patent number: 4842480
Abstract: A multistage in-line rotary pump which comprises a closed pump body, a base element provided with suction and delivery connectors, and a head element. The pump body is surrounded by a cylindrical jacket or casing spaced from the pump body to form an annular return space, which casing is clamped between the base and head elements by means of stay bolts. Flat joints are provided between the base and head elements and the respective axial ends of the casing. To prevent high areal compression stresses in the area of the flat joints, the two extremities of the casing are plastically deformed to obtain a wall thickness which is greater than the wall thickness of the rest of the casing tube.

  • Patent number: 4838526
Abstract: Disclosed is an improvement of final cooling of the steel strip by immersing in cooling water, which strip has been cooled through a cooling zone in a continuous heat treating line. The improvement is achieved by injecting cooling water to the surface of the immersed strip to rapidly cool the strip to a predetermined temperature until the strip reaches the first sink-roll and resulted in that any dirt adhesion on the surface of the strip caused by contacting with the first sink-roll is prevented without increment of cooling cost.

  • Patent number: 4836454
Abstract: A fuel injection nozzle of the inwardly opening type includes a valve member which is biased into contact with a seating by a spring. The valve member is surrounded in part by a sleeve and both the valve member and sleeve are subject to fuel pressure so that axial forces are produced which act in opposition to the spring. When the forces are large enough the valve member and sleeve move but the sleeve movement and hence the movement of the valve member, is limited by a stop. Fuel is allowed to flow through an outlet at a restricted rate and only when the fuel pressure rises is the valve member moved further to allow unrestricted flow of fuel. The further movement of the valve member is limited by the engagement of an abutment on the valve member with the end of the sleeve.

  • Patent number: 4834025
Abstract: An automatic feeding machine having a pivotally supported gravity lever for controlling a pivotally supported feeding lever. One side of the gravity lever has a weight overlapping an arch on one end of the feeding lever, on the other side of the gravity lever there is mounted a water container for receiving water from a source. The feeding lever has a feeding stopper on the other end to seal the feeding bucket. The levers are pivotally supported by shafts mounted inside a housing, the levers lying along a common longitudinal axis. A predetermined amount of water in the water bucket will initiate pivotal movement of said gravity level to free the arch end and cause pivotal movement of the feeding lever to unseal the feeding bucket, which may also be provided with a damper to control the amount of feed being dispensed.

  • Patent number: RE33006
Abstract: A novel low C-Cr-Mo steel having an excellent weldability and a high erosion-corrosion resistance under wet steam, which consists of, in % by weight, 0.02-0.14% of C, not more than 0.90% of Si, 0.30-0.80% of Mn, 0.70-1.60% of Cr, 0.40-0.70% of Mo and the remainder being susbtantially Fe. This novel steel is a very excellent material for fabricating the portions in the feed-water heater, for example, for a nuclear power generation plant, the portions being used under wet steam condition. The above described weldability and erosion-corrosion resistance can be improved, by additionally adding the second components of Cu, N, or B, the third components of Nb or V or the fourth components of Al, Ti or Zr in the respectively defined amounts.
