  • Patent number: 5667734
Abstract: A carburetor in which no deviation or change occurs in the adjusted position of a fuel regulating needle valve and when a cap for limiting the adjustment is mounted on the fuel regulating valve the cap cannot be intentionally broken or removed. A flow area of a fuel pasage of a carburetor body is adjusted by a needle valve received in a threaded hole in the body. Adjacent the threaded hole the carburetor body has a cylindrical cavity having a larger diameter than that of the threaded hole. A larger-diameter threaded portion is provided on the needle valve adjacent its head. A stop ring in contact with a shoulder in the cylindrical cavity is fitted on the larger-diameter threaded portion of the valve. A cup-shaped cap is fitted on the serrated head of the fuel regulating valve. An axial protrusion formed on the outer peripheral wall of the cap is engaged with an axial groove opening into the peripheral wall of the cylindrical cavity.

  • Patent number: 5664470
Abstract: A tool turret has a brake to retain the turret in an an index position. The brake has stationary and rotatable brake members, each formed with a cone-shaped braking surface and a radial or face braking surface. A tooling plate carries a plurality of cutting tools and is mounted on the rotatable brake member. When the brake members are moved toward one another, the cone-shaped braking surfaces engage and the face braking surfaces engage in an indexed position in which one of the cutting tools is brought into a position for engaging a workpiece. When the brake members are disengaged, a motor turns the rotatable brake member and the tooling plate to another indexed position. The cone-shaped braking surfaces are mounted on flexibly resilient braking elements of the brake members to enable them to flex upon initial engagement of the cone-shaped braking surfaces, so that further movement of the brake members towards one another into full engagement with the face braking surfaces is permitted.

  • Patent number: 5664887
Abstract: A collapsible bulk bag which when filled with material has a generally cubical configuration with a pair of end walls and rectangular sidewalls extending between them with all of the walls being of a flexible material. Bowing and bulging of the sidewalls from a planar configuration is retarded and restrained by loops of cord operably connected with the sidewalls. Preferably the loops of cord having portions inside the bag extending obliquely between adjacent sidewalls when the bag is filled. Method and apparatus for making the bag with the double knotted loops of cord are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5664424
Abstract: A refrigerant handling system that includes a closed chamber having an inlet for directing refrigerant in liquid phase into the chamber such that the refrigerant collects at a lower portion of the chamber and non-condensibles are trapped in the upper portion of the chamber over the refrigerant. The rate of increase in level of refrigerant in the chamber is measured as liquid phase refrigerant is directed thereto, and non-condensibles are purged from the upper portion of the chamber when the rate of increase of refrigerant level is less than a preselected threshold.

  • Patent number: 5663983
Abstract: A differentially matched filter for spread spectrum or code division multiple access communication systems comprises a delay line, a multiplication stage, two adders, and an additional delay element. In one embodiment, the delay line comprises elements of delay T with taps therebetween connected to respective elements of the multiplication stage. In another embodiment, the delay line comprises elements of delay T/M with taps after each Mth element connected to respective elements of the multiplication stage. The multiplication stage is connected to a first adder connected in turn to a first input of a second adder. The output of the second adder is the output of the filter and is also connected through the additional delay element to a second input of the second adder, to produce an output sequence.

  • Patent number: 5660206
Abstract: A filler neck of a fuel tank extends from the gas cap to the interior of a fuel tank, and a fill valve insert is positioned adjacent the tank-interior end of the filler neck in a tank/neck coupler construction. The insert carries a flexible valve to close the interior end of the filler neck, and the valve is designed and mounted both to flex open and bodily move downstream to both open and rapidly enlarge the valve opened passageway in response to rapid inflow of fuel to the tank, and to return and revert to a closed position upon cessation of fuel inflow. The fill valve insert is positively positioned and held in the interior of a threaded spout on the fuel tank and is retained and sealed against the filler pipe by a threaded collar screwed onto the threaded spout.

  • Patent number: 5660268
Abstract: A power drive unit for aircraft cargo handling systems that includes a motor and a drive roller carried for engagement with cargo to be driven by the unit. Planetary gears rotatably couple the output shaft of the motor to an output gear coaxial with the motor output shaft. Idler gears extend laterally from the planetary output gear and rotatably couple the planetary output gear to the roller drive shaft. A pair of angularly spaced reaction gears are coupled to the planetary output gear in opposition to the idler gears for supporting the output gear against reaction forces imparted thereto by the drive roller through the idler gears.

  • Patent number: 5660511
Abstract: An end mill for simultaneously milling two intersecting perpendicular surfaces of a part. The end mill is subjected to side cutting loads causing side deflection of the end mill, with the result that both the side-milled surface and the end-milled surface are not cut true to the part. To compensate for end mill deflection, a cam arrangement is provided to adjust the position of the end mill.

  • Patent number: 5656708
Abstract: A process for making a water-insoluble, graft copolymer of lignite-(ethene or substituted ethene monomer) having a central lignite network and at least one grafted side chain, R, having "m" repeating units of (1-phenylethylene), 1-methyl-1-(1-oxo-2-oxypropyl)ethylene, a polymerized 2-methyl-3-oxo-4-oxybut-1-ene-(p-ethoxy-(3*p+3)-ol), or any other substituted ethene monomer which has a dipole moment of less than 1.2 or a water solubility of less than 5 g/100 g water at 30.degree. C. The ethene monomer forms the sidechain by free radical polymerization and, in the sidechain, m and p vary from 1 to 300,000 such that the central lignite network has a molecular weight of about 1,000 to 1,500,000; the total number of random units in a grafted side chain is in the range of 1 to 300,000 units; and the total number of sidechains attached to lignite, x, is in the range of 1 to 500; such that the total copolymer molecular weight is in the range of 1,500 to 30,000,000.

  • Patent number: 5655892
Abstract: A thermally actuated vapor vent valve in a fuel pump module allows hot vapor to escape from the fuel pump module when the module is at a temperature significantly above normal operating temperatures. The vent valve is carried by a retainer in the fuel pump module and, at normal operating temperatures, the vent valve is closed on a valve seat of the vapor outlet to prevent vapor flow through the vapor outlet. The valve and the retainer are formed of materials having different coefficients of thermal expansion such that when the fuel pump module becomes heated to a temperature sufficiently above normal operating temperatures the retainer expands and disengages the valve from the valve seat. This allows the hot vapor within the fuel pump module to flow out of the module and thereby prevents the fuel pump from overheating or reaching temperatures which can damage the electric motor that drives the fuel pump.
