  • Patent number: 5546269
Abstract: A housing includes a base with blade terminals insertable into jaw contacts in an electrical watthour meter socket. First and second watthour meter receiving shells are mounted on the housing, each having a pair of line jaw contacts connected in parallel to each other and to line blade terminals in the base. Electrical conductors extend from the load jaw contacts in one of the shells to a junction box mounted on the housing to provide a connection to an external electrical conductor. An electrical power disconnect device is mounted in one of the shells, and is connected in series by conductors between the line jaw contacts in both shells. The power disconnect device includes a movable external member having an end portion which slidably extends through the side wall of one of the shells. In one embodiment, the end portion is a separate rod which is biased into contact with the movable member.

  • Patent number: 5522212
Abstract: A single rod three chamber fluid cylinder is driven in an initial rapid advance forward stroke by a main pump, pumping fluid through a proportional directional control valve to act against a first equal area at the head end of the piston. Fluid expelled from a second equal area at the rod side of the piston is returned to the reservoir through a proportional directional control valve which is in a first position while a two position valve is in its first position allowing an accumulator to fill a third chamber exposed to a third area of the head side. When shifting to the feed stroke, the two position valve switches to its second position disconnecting the accumulator to the third area and connecting the main pump to the third area while also connected to the first equal area. Upon the return stroke of the piston, the fluid from the first equal area is returned to the sump and the fluid from the third area is routed to the accumulator.

  • Patent number: 5507942
Abstract: A fuel filter assembly that provides a constant level of least restricted fuel flow through the fuel filter assembly during the useful life of the filter media by utilizing the least possible amount of filter media to provide the least possible pressure differential over the filter media while also providing a constant level of fuel additive by exposing an amount proportional to the filter media required for the least possible restricted fuel flow. The fuel filter assembly utilizes a vertically upward housing that houses a filter media and a fuel additive. The fuel level slowly rises in the housing as the filter media becomes obstructed with contaminants and as the fuel additive dissolves over the life of the filter media. The top portion of the housing is made of a transparent material so that the level of fuel level may be easily determined, thereby allowing for an accurate and simple assessment of the useful life of the filter media and the fuel additive.

  • Patent number: 5501871
Abstract: Hollow microspheres produced by the present method each have a hollow interior evacuated of gases to a predetermined pressure. A reflective material layer coats the exterior of each microsphere and, optionally, an outer layer of a protective material is applied over the reflective material layer. Permeant gases are dissolved into glass or plastic frit particles prior to heating of the frit particles to form hollow microspheres having the permeant gases contained therein. The permeant gases are subsequently out-permeated in a non-permeant gas atmosphere to substantially evacuate the interior of each microsphere. The exterior layers of reflective material and protective material are then coated about each evacuated microsphere.

  • Patent number: 5492443
Abstract: An apparatus for automatically handling a workpiece between automated workstations wherein the workpiece is lifted from an unloading workstation, moved along a predetermined linear reciprocal path between work stations while simultaneously inverting the workpiece, and lowering the workpiece into a loading workstation. The apparatus provides a vertical lift portion and an articulating portion for manipulating the workpiece. The vertical lift portion utilizes a compact design to minimize space requirements and moving parts by providing both vertical movement and rotational movement within a common structure. The articulating portion is attached to the bottom of the vertical lift portion and provides a pivot arm that is pivotally attached to a workpiece holder. The vertical lift portion provides a rotational input to a harmonic drive unit which has its output coupled to the pivot arm. When the pivot arm rotates, a continuous timing belt provides for counter-rotational movement of the workpiece holder.
