  • Patent number: 5443304
Abstract: A combination chair and walker comprises a frame having laterally spaced apart front legs and rear legs spaced rearwardly thereof for movement over a floor in a stable, upright configuration. A seat has a forward edge spaced rearwardly of the front legs and defining an open space extending rearwardly of the front legs for accommodating a person's legs while in a standing, walking and sitting position. A mechanism, adjustably attached to the frame and selectively positionable, supports at least one of a person's side and arms. A frontal cross bar extends laterally between the adjustable side and arm support mechanism, the cross bar having one end portion pivotally connected to one side of the adjustable side and arm support mechanism to permit ingress and egress of the person from a front side of the chair/walker. A crotch strap is attached to the frame and extends between a person's legs into the open space, the strap being releasably attachable to the frontal cross bar while in a closed position.

  • Patent number: 5442159
Abstract: A method of bonding two structural members, such as two metal sheets, by heating a bonding material disposed between juxtaposed perimeter edges of the two sheets. An induction heater is disposed adjacent one sheet surface and adjacent the juxtaposed perimeter edges of the two sheets to induce heat to the bonding material from one surface of one sheet and from the perimeter edges of both sheets to cure the bonding material. The induction heater is formed of first and second elements disposed in a non-parallel arrangement adjacent one surface and along one perimeter edge of two juxtaposed structural members. The first and second elements are joined together at adjacent ends. A base and a riser are connected to intermediate spaced ends of the first element for attaching the first element to a high frequency electrical current source.

  • Patent number: 5440832
Abstract: A fly hook includes a shank with first and second ends. A first end of a bend of the shank extends from the second end at a predetermined angle from the axis of the shank. The bend terminates in a rolled-in point which is bent inward toward the shank. Further, the spear end of the hook is further bent inward toward the shank to bring the point into a substantial parallel position with respect to the shank. A body of buoyant material is disposed about the first end of the shank and, in combination with the offset bend, maintains the point of the hook in an upward position during drawing in of the hook. In another embodiment, the point is rolled out from the shank and a barb is formed exteriorly of and extending outward from the bend of the fly hook.

  • Patent number: 5439364
Abstract: An apparatus for delivering and depositing groups of continuous threads or filaments, which are conveyed by means of a gas flow and which are introduced substantially parallel into a passage having a corresponding cross-section is proposed, the gas flow accompanying the threads upon entering the upper part of the passage is accelerated to high speed and is then decelerated and the threads are deposited on a moving depositing surface. The gas flow delivering the threads flows at high speed through the passage preferably provided with parallel walls and then is decelerated by the suction of part of the gas in the lower passage area laterally through openings in the passage walls.

  • Patent number: 5438884
Abstract: A gas emission sample container has a fitting mounted in an aperture formed in one side wall of an expansible body. The fitting includes a sleeve with a through bore and an enlarged diameter end collar. A ring member is mountable over the sleeve in surrounding engagement with the collar and traps the edges of the side wall of the container surrounding the aperture in the container therebetween. A lock nut threadingly mounted over the sleeve removably fixes the ring member over the collar with the exterior end of the collar being disposed substantially flush with the end of the ring member and the major portion of the side wall of the container. A coupler nut is connected to the sleeve for connecting the interior of the container and the fitting to a gas flow conduit. A seal is mounted about the sleeve between the collar and the ring member to form a seal between the edges of the side wall of the container surrounding the aperture in the container and the fitting.

  • Patent number: 5432999
Abstract: A process for forming a multi-layer integrated circuit utilizes a rigid substrate covered by a dissolvable material layer, which is in turn coated by a protective material layer. Electrically conductive posts and a semiconductive material layer are then sequentially formed on the protective material layer. An integrated circuit is formed in the top surface of the semiconductive material layer. Upper conductive pads are formed on exposed ends of the conductive posts. The substrate, dissolvable material layer and protective material layer support each thin integrated circuit layer during fabrication and are removed to enable the integrated circuits to be interconnected into a stack via the conductive posts and pads. In another embodiment, the rigid substrate is formed of a dissolvable material layer which is in turn coated by a protective, insulating layer.

  • Patent number: 5427300
Abstract: A framing apparatus that accurately and efficiently clamps and welds a loosely assembled vehicle body with a high degree of repeatability between consecutive vehicle bodies while also having the ability to adapt to a plurality of different, predetermined loosely assembled vehicle body configurations in a quick and efficient manner. The framing apparatus provides a first and second framing means that move between a raised position for introducing and removing the vehicle body from a welding station and a lowered position for clamping and welding the loosely assembled vehicle body. The first and second framing means are pivotally connected to a carriage which is supported on a pair of substantially parallel inner rails for movement along a first path of travel. A pair of substantially outer rails support the first and second framing means for movement along the first path of travel when in the raised position.

  • Patent number: 5424013
Abstract: A closed loop thermoplastic recycling process includes the step of testing particulated processed plastic material to determine the properties thereof. The tested properties are compared with targeted near virgin properties of the processed plastic material to determine any difference(s) therebetween. Additives based on the property differences determined during testing are admixed with the particulates in a twin screw extruder. During extruding, volatile constituents are simultaneously withdrawn from the fused particulates. The twin screws of the extruder are provided with a number of screw sections, each having a thread with predetermined degrees of chamfer and pitch length. Kneading blocks are mounted on certain screw sections prior to a vacuum vent port disposed along the feed path of the melt stream in the extruder. The extruded material is tested to determine if any property differences exist.

  • Patent number: 5423651
Abstract: A service cart transportable in a van or truck is comprised of a vertically oriented pyramid-shaped profile. The pyramid shape offers a high degree of stability, making it virtually impossible to tip over during normal operating conditions, especially during transport. The cart has a four-wheel base. One set of wheels is preferably swivel casters for turning sharp corners. A second set of wheels is larger and located externally of the cart. These wheels increase the base of the pyramid profile and add to the cart's stability. The service cart may be transported to and from a job site. The cart fits into a van or truck bed. To remove the cart from the vehicle, a ramp system is provided. A mechanical or electrical winch may be used to transport the cart into or out of the vehicle.
