Patent number: 4209174Abstract: A weight means disposed in a casing of a phonograph is capable of being swung and urged normally in a predetermined direction. The weight means is associated with a lifting means. The lifting means is able to mechanically lift a sound transmitting member to move it in a direction away from a record disc against which, said transmitting member is urged under stylus force by means of a stylus force spring.According to this simple and correct mechanism, the stylus force exerted on the sound transmitting member is released by means of a shock without fail. Hence, a pickup will return to a starting point of sound reproduction by a return spring. The weight means is then able to return to its original location so that the necessary stylus force may be imparted again to the pickup through the sound transmitting member.Type: GrantFiled: May 29, 1979Date of Patent: June 24, 1980Inventor: Yutaka Shiseki

Patent number: 4208960Abstract: Apparatus for compacting and storing cans comprises a device for crushing cans and storage and collection containers. The can crushing device comprises a ramming head and linear drive means for raising and lowering the ramming head to crush the cans. The cans are positioned upright, in open topped storage containers, beneath the ramming head. When lowered, the ramming head engages the tops of the cans and applies an evenly distributed force thereon so as to crush the cans with minimum bulging, preserving the tops and bottoms of the cans substantially intact. The storage containers are stackable, having upper and lower portions dimensioned to nest together to permit containers of crushed cans to be stacked and stored conveniently and securely.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 1979Date of Patent: June 24, 1980Inventor: Dennis R. Patent number: 4207678Abstract: A dental shade guide system for increasing the accuracy in matching an artificial tooth coloring to a patient's natural teeth by providing a plurality of primary shade guides, each guide having a specific chroma percentage made from a predetermined formula. Each primary shade guide has a corresponding plurality of secondary shade guides such that each of the corresponding secondary shade guides has a decreased chroma percentage which is determined by varying the value ratio of the primmary shade guide formula. This is accomplished by mixing the primary shade guide formula in varying amounts with a gray or white modifier. In one embodiment of the invention the secondary shade guides provide a chroma range which in selected applications overlaps with the chroma range of several of the primary shade guides providing the practitioner with a more accurate match. A method for making and using the secondary shade guides is disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 1977Date of Patent: June 17, 1980Inventor: William W. Jeannette

Patent number: 4207049Abstract: A device and method for mold coating plastic parts producing a class A finish is disclosed. The method of mold coating plastic parts includes the steps of molding the part; allowing the part to solidify; opening the mold a controlled distance and maintaining a seal between the parts of the mold, while holding the part in the core of the mold; injecting a measured amount of coating material into the space; and closing the mold to form and cure the coating material. The device includes a seal disposed around the perimeter of the mold at the surfaces separating the halves of the mold. The seal is configured to allow the halves of the mold to be separated by as much as 0.100 inches or greater without breaking the seal between the mold halves. When the halves of the mold are separated to create the space a vacuum may be created in the space between the surface of the mold and the surface of the part to augment dispersion of the coating.Type: GrantFiled: February 16, 1979Date of Patent: June 10, 1980Inventors: Richard J. Patent number: 4203482Abstract: The improved process comprises placing in an open top, walled enclosure a pattern plate carrying the pattern for the core or mold part to be produced. The height of the pattern plate is adjustable relative to the tops of the walls of the enclosure so that when sand coated with a polymerizable resin is poured onto the top of the pattern the excess sand flows over the tops of the walls, covering the pattern with a mound of sand the slope of the walls of which is determined by the angle of least repose of the sand. A squeeze head having a surface corresponding to the surface of the pattern is now pressed downwardly onto the top of the pile of sand, to compact the sand about the pattern. While thus held by the squeeze head, material such as gas is passed from the bottom of the mold or core up through the now compacted sand, thus to polymerize the resin. The squeeze head is removed and the now cured, resin sand core or mold part is removed, ready for use in the usual way.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 1978Date of Patent: May 20, 1980Inventor: Leo J. LeBlanc

Patent number: 4201271Abstract: A quill drive comprising a housing adapted for mounting on machine tools. A quill is slidably mounted in a longitudinal bore in the housing, and is longitudinally positioned by a ball screw. The ball screw is driven for longitudinal positioning of the quill by a variable speed, reversible motor. The quill rotatably supports a spindle for driving various cutting tools. The spindle is advanced longitudinally by the quill and is rotatably driven by a second motor. The quill drive can be used singly or in a multiple arrangment on transfer machines or other automatic equipment. The unique design has fewer parts resulting in a simple reliable, relatively inexpensive device which is compact and easy to use.
