Patent number: 5627762Abstract: A centrifugal balancer is combined with a computer system programed to suggest trial weights and placement and correction weights and placement to be used in interactive menu driven balancing sequences. Vibration responsive transducers provide inputs to automatic multi-gain amplifiers in a computer interface. The signals produced by the amplifiers are filtered by adjustable bandpass filters which are driven to match the rotational frequency of the work piece being balanced. Peak detectors rectify the output of the filters and an analog-to-digital converter processes the output of the peak detectors. A counter, reset by a sensor monitoring work piece rotation, is incremented until disabled by zero crossing detectors monitoring the outputs of the filters to provide relative phase information.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 1995Date of Patent: May 6, 1997Assignee: Dynamics Research Corp.Inventors: Wayne B. Cameron, Roger J. Morella, Jr., Donald W. Davis

Patent number: 5595530Abstract: A reciprocating abrading, polisher or buffing tool is disclosed in which a counterweight for a shoe adapted for the mounting of an abrading, polishing or buffing member is driven by the shoe for oppositely directed reciprocating movement. Pairs of guides for supporting the shoe and counterweight for reciprocating movement are mounted on a shroud having halves fixed to each other and to depend from a rim of a body of the sander or polisher, so as to permit selective rotational displacements of the shoe and counterweight relative to the body. In one form of the invention employing suction to withdraw dust from adjacent the shoe, the shroud is employed to positionally locate an L-shaped connecting duct relative to a dust discharge opening in the shoe and a dust collecting duct leading to an aspirator.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 1995Date of Patent: January 21, 1997Assignee: Dynabrade, Inc.Inventor: Richard A. Patent number: 5587748Abstract: An alignment override control for effecting automatic vertical alignment of a test axis of an ophthalmic instrument with the center of an eye is disclosed. The test axis is associated with optical alignment means of the instrument vertically movable by an elevation motor controlled by a motor drive. A joystick and a pair of directional switches are connected to the motor drive for manual positioning of the test axis. When the eye comes within a field of view defined by the optical means, the override control disconnects the switches and automatically signals the elevation motor to effect automatic alignment using signal information originating from the optical means.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 1994Date of Patent: December 24, 1996Assignee: Leica Inc.Inventors: David A.
